Cheers to almost-Friday, friends! Y’all absolutely blew me away with your response to our One Room Challenge reveal yesterday! I knew we loved the room like crazy, but it’s always a little nerve-racking putting yourself out there…especially when your aesthetic isn’t exactly mainstream!
I’ve read every single comment and email on both the blog and social media, and haven’t stopped grinning since. So thank you! Thank you for your kind words and sharing our enthusiasm. I only wish I could have you all over for dinner in our new Dining Room! Takeout tacos, of course. 😉
Mr. SP has a business trip today, and Isweet-talked him into letting me tag along since it’s my birthday this weekend, so I thought I’d put my next installment of Dressing Room Diaries up a day early.
Dressing Room Diaries is where I hunt down some of the cutest new arrivals from my favorite retailers, and review them for you. You know the drill…the shots aren’t good, the lighting is bad (especially now with the time change!), my hair is usually past it’s expiration, and many of the items aren’t a good fit for me…but it’s real life, real girl, real clothes…and hopefully helpful for you to see them this way, instead of perfectly styled on a model.
Fit Note: I’m 5’4″-ish, 120 pounds-ish, with a slight pear shape. My usual size is an XS/0.
Might as well start with one of my favorite finds…this sweater had me at pink ruffles. But somehow, it’s just the right amount of sweet, without it looking like I stole my daughter’s clothes. I especially love it paired with these plumy/cranberry booties! In fact, I’m so smitten with both, I’m doing a whole post around them soon!
Fit Tip: Topshop is a European company and runs a tad small, so I always size up to a US4. The booties are true to size, and crazy comfy thanks to the wedge heel.
To quote my mother-in-law, ‘I’m really into those tops that cover you whole bum!’ Yes ma’am, so am I! This tunic is super soft, not too heavy, and just enough length to for leggings, but not so long that it doesn’t work with jeans, too. (See it fully-styled here.)These are my favorite leggings, too (wide waistband that doesn’t roll down and extra opaque fabric so no skin shows through), but I nabbed them in navy to mix things up a bit. I think I’m digging the color!
Fit Tip: Sweater is a generous fit, I’m wearing an XS. Leggings are true, and I’m wearing XS.
This was my favorite dress all Summer (see it fully-styled here), so when it was restocked in fun Fall colors (and on sale for only $25!!), I couldn’t help but try it in this plum shade. I’ll throw on a jean or utility jacket to keep me warm…but it’s also available in a long-sleeved version here.
Fit Tip: True to size for me, and I’m wearing an XS.
How fun is the texture and color of this tunic sweater? It looks great with blue, black and gray denim, and of course my new plum booties. It’s also long enough for leggings.
Fit Tip: Generous fit, so I sized down to XS petite. The regular XS fits the same, but it a bit longer.
The upside of trying things on at home, is I get to pair them with different shoes and accessories to see how they’d really fit in with my wardrobe. (And free returns means no risk!) An ivory sweater is one of the most versatile pieces you can have, and this one is extra soft with cute front pockets and a mock neck. Plus it looks darling with literally every scarf in my closet.
Fit Tip: Sweater runs true, and I’m wearing an XS. The scarf is very airy, so a great plaid option for those of you who don’t care for wool.
Sweater dresses are typically too figure-hugging for my liking, or hang there like a potato sack…this one is neither! It’s got just enough stretch to hug, but not so much that I felt exposed. Plus the ribbing on the side and notched hemline makes it so flattering. I’d add tights as the weather cooled even more.
Fit Tip: The dress runs large, so I wanted to show you the different fits. On the left I sized down to an XXS, and the right is my usual XS. I think I prefer the ivory color, but in the XXS fit on me. (And because I know my mom will ask me, yes you can totally wear this! And to work!) 🙂
I must be planning on hibernating all season, because all I want to wear are long, cozy cardigans! And the softer the better! This one is crazy-soft, in a flattering pink hue…and the circle hem keeps it from overwhelming my frame. (Please note the plum booties again…who knew they’d be so neutral!!??)
Fit Tip: Cardigan is a generous fit, but I’m still wearing an XS.
I’ve had a utility vest for several years, and love the extra layer it adds to my outfits. This one has a cute hood, and drawstring waist to create more shape. The color is off in my photos, as it’s closer to a traditional army green. My obsession with shades of plum are a little ridiculous right now!
Fit Tip: Vest is slightly oversized, but I’m still in an XS. Adjust the drawstring for a better fit. Also, the striped tee is true (I’m wearing an XS), but the dress runs small (I’m wearing a small). The dress in my usual XS fits more like a tunic, and super cute with these navy leggings.
The only like I love more than plum right now? Plum paired with pink!! #swoon Wouldn’t this preppy argyle be so cute paired with this pleated leather mini and tights?!
Fit Tip: Sweater is true, I’m wearing an XS. If you plan on layering it over a shirt though, I’d size up.
This dressing room pic doesn’t do this lace peplum top justice, but it’s really pretty and comes in several great colors. It’d be beautiful paired with these bootcut jeans and leopard heels for a more casual holiday party look.
Fit Tip: My usual size wasn’t available, so I’m wearing a 00, but I’d prefer a 0.
Soft pink is so unexpected this time of year, which is probably why I love it so much. This pullover is a nice weight, and soft, stretchy material makes it perfect for wearing alone, or layered.
Fit Tip: Go with your regular size to pair with jeans (I’m wearing an XS), or size up to wear with leggings. #coveryourladybitsladies
I featured a fun bird-print blouse earlier this week, that unfortunately sold out quickly. This is another pretty option, and I love the dark background. It’d be perfect with slacks or a pencil skirt, or dressed down with bootcut jeans and heels.
Fit Tip: The blouse runs large…this XS was swimming on me a little.
I featured this sweater last year in this {1 Outfit | 3 Ways} post, and it’s still my favorite affordable cashmere option. While I love the bright colors, this tan is so chic and classic, and would be darling layered over most plaids. And I couldn’t resist adding another peacoat to my collection (I’m up to 3 if you’re keeping count), but at only $38, it really can’t be beat!
Fit Tip: The sweater runs true (I’m wearing an XS), but the coat is small and requires sizing up one or two. I’m wearing a Med in this pic.
I discovered this long cardigan last month, and have the urge to grab it in every single color! The fit is great, I love the pockets, and you can’t beat the price!! And while I love a striped top layered under, I didn’t love this tee. The neck was too wide and the fabric too flimsy.
Can you even stand how adorable this hoodie pullover is?! The hood lays normally in the back, but has a cute shawl-collar front, and I love the pouch pocket. I just wish it were a tad softer on the inside…it’s not scratchy or anything, but it could be perfection if it were lined with fleece.
With holidays around the corner, several of you are asking for party dress ideas…well, you don’t have to twist my arm! I love dresses, especially party dresses. This lace option is a gorgeous deep green, and I adore the little sleeve, and flattering fit-and-flare shape. The length makes it appropriate for a range of events from work parties to weddings.
Fit Tip: I typically wear a 2 in this brand, but I think I’d prefer sizing down for a better fit through the torso.
Another lace option, but this one fits like a trapeze dress…aka, room for the dessert buffet! The length provides more coverage, but the deep-v makes it subtly-sexy.
Fit Tip: Dress runs large, so I’d recommend sizing down if you’re not gifted with ‘girls’. I’m wearing an XS.
I have this jacket in pink (remember this 3 Ways with it?), so I was thrilled to see they brought it back in more Fall-friendly colors. This one is actually more khaki than baby-poop, and a great neutral.
Fit Tip: Jacket runs large, so size down if possible. I’m wearing an XS.
This is just a snap of what I wore to the mall this day…I have this blouse in a few colors, but in different sizes for different fits. This is an XXS petite and works great for tucking in pants and skirts, but I also have a regular XS and wear that as a tunic with leggings.
Never mind how dark this pic is (thanks time change!), but this is the same long pocket cardi shown above, but in black. #iheartthiscardi Of course I love it paired with stripes, and this tee is super soft option.
Fit Tip: Cardigan runs large, so sized down one. I’m wearing an XXS.
This mock neck pullover sweater has been one of the most popular this season…for both it’s easy-fit, and great price. It also comes in great Fall colors.
I love dresses paired with jackets and booties for Fall, but this one was a tad thin and short for my liking. You could size down and wear it as a tunic with leggings and a scarf though.
Fit Tip: Dress runs small, so I sized up in this pic.
This swing dress is thicker with a ribbed texture, but I’m undecided on the pockets. I’m not one to turn down a pocket, but these have a slouchy, pouch-like look to them.
I think I already reviewed everything in this pic, but I loved this combo…and my photobomber…to much not to share. Both this sweater and scarf are so versatile. And you can’t beat the price of this little crossbody…definitely a great size for travel, too.
Mr. SP accompanied me to the mall for ‘a quick return’…but of course a few things caught my eye. 😉 This plaid would be cute for holidays, and the cotton flannel is super soft.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small in this pic for a relaxed fit, but my usual size works, too.
And finally, I had to try the long-sleeved version of my favorite cowlneck swing dress, and it did not disappoint! The ribbed fabric gives it a heftier feel (and camouflages lumps & bumps), and the length not-too-short. I loved both the black and plum shades, but there are several great Fall colors.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS, so it’s true…but if you’re in-between sizes, I’d recommend going up one.
I never intend for these posts to be so long, but once I get started, I have a hard time narrowing down which pieces to share with y’all! What’s your favorite from this round of Dressing Room Diaries? You may want to check out the previous installment because many of the items featured are now on sale, and check the codes below for additional percentage off!

SO MUCH GOOD STUFF, but the ribbed sweater dress on you is definitely my favorite!!!! It fits you perfectly! I also loved that first lace dress on you!
Cassie, this is one of my favorite lists to date. You make everything look good! So many items I would have passed over just seeing them on a website, but you SELL them. 🙂 I've bought several of the pieces you've modeling like the the Wit & Wisdom stretch jeans (BEST jeans ever!) & the rug in your living room. Are the cute Lucky booties you're wearing the 'beet suede' color? Cause…errr…I gotta get those!
Thanks so much, Sandy! Yes, my wedge booties are the beet color. I'm crazy about these boots!! They are so comfy, but give me some added height, too! I just told Mr. SP I wanted another color for my bday! #oops 🙂
It's your bday…therefore, you are allowed! Mine is next week so I think I'll join you in this. Never would have thought much of this color until I saw them on you. Glad to hear they are comfy too – very importante!!
So much cute things and you look terrific in them all. I adore that pink ruffle sweater!! Enjoy your birthday weekend. I have a November birthday too. Great time of year!
I think Mr. SP was your dressing room photo bomber. Too funny! Have a fun trip! It's so nice to get a break, however short. And, an early Happy Birthday wish.🎂
This is always my most favorite post to see. Your certainly make all the clothes look good. Now if I could just borrow your body 🙁 Wish more items were on sale though. Thanks and enjoy your get-away.
Cheers to Friday, friends! Thanks so much for your enthusiasm over the ORC update…I’m glad to hear you’re as anxious as me to see that wallpaper installed! I have a few more big decisions to make as soon as it goes up, so I’ll have to kick it into another gear soon!
Today it’s time for the next installment of Dressing Room Diaries, where I hunt down some of the cutest new arrivals from my favorite retailers, and review them for you. You know the drill…the shots aren’t good, the lighting is bad, my hair is usually past it’s expiration, and many of the items aren’t a good fit for me…but it’s real life, real girl, real clothes…and hopefully helpful for you to see them this way, instead of perfectly styled on a model.
And this time I brought my darling Mama Sugarplum with me! She’s a little smaller than the last time you saw her (thanks to strict doctor’s orders!), but it’s still fun to see how she translates the outfits for her petite frame and age.
Fit Note: I’m 5’4″-ish, 120 pounds-ish, with a slight pear shape. My usual size is an XS/0. Mama Sugarplum is 5’1″, with an hourglass figure. Her usual size is S/4.
Our game plan this time was to walk the store together, and see what we each gravitated towards. And funny enough, we seemed to like all the same stuff, and usually in the same color! Starting with this cowlneck pullover. The website refers to it as a sweater, but the thick knit makes it more of a heavy shirt…and oh so soft!! We both kind of hugged ourselves with glee when we pulled it on. I also love the curved hem and longer back.
Fit Tip: Size up one if you want to wear it with leggings…I’m in an XS & mom in a S.
We’re both suckers for the kitten cardi, so of course we had to try this new version with a peplum back and drape front. It’s just as soft as the button version, but has a little more shape thanks to the back darts.
Fit Tip: True to size, I’m in an XS and mom in a S.
I don’t know where these jeans have been all my life, but in the span of a week, I hit the jean-jackpot three times! And all are under $40!?! #saywhat I first stumbled on these dark ones, and could hardly believe how comfy and flattering they were. So I quickly tried the light wash, and loved them even more! And I’ll show you the black ones later in this post.
Fit Tip: The tricky part is the fit…these dark wash run 1-2 sizes big #trustme and the light wash run one size big.
If you follow my #SugarplumStyle on Instagram, you know this is a regular uniform for me…and just look how darling it is on my mom! She’s pretty much head-to-toe in my must-haves…favorite striped tee, utility jacket, and newfound jeans.
Fit Tip: Size down in all three…she’s wearing an XXS jacket, XS tee, and 26 jeans.
Many floral prints overwhelm my frame, but this one was both lovely and striking. I’m crazy for the ruffle neck, and it’s perfect paired with jeans for a night out, or with a pencil skirt or slacks for work. And these are the black jeans I was referring to earlier…I love the mid-rise, dark rinse, and no distressing. The booties are pretty much perfect, too, and comfy thanks to the block-heel.
Fit Tip: The blouse runs large…this is the XS, and the armholes are a little too big for me (nothing a cami can’t fix!). The black jeans are true to size, I’m wearing a 26.
You know the bootcut jeans that make me look tall and leggy (worn here & here)…yeah well, mom joined the bootcut bandwagon, too! I insisted she size down one, which she of course fought me on…but guess who was right in the end?! #thisgirl She fell in love with them, and ordered the 2P for a perfect fit. #mmmmhmmm
Fit Tip: Mom has a larger chest than me, so the blouse was a good fit for her. And like I said, size down in the jeans! I wear a reg 0, and mom a 2P.
I never met a ruffle I didn’t love, including this little top. I liked the sweetness of the top paired with rugged jeans and boots, but it’d be darling with a skirt, too.
Fit Tip: Top runs a little small through the arms, so I’d recommend sizing up one. I’m wearing an XS in the pics, and my circulation was in danger.
My mom’s work environment is more corporate than mine, so she likes to find pieces that fit both work and weekend vibes. She loved this sweater and pencil skirt combo…I’d pair the look on the left with these block-heeled pumps for work, then add the drapey jacket and booties for a night out.
Fit Tip: The skirt runs large & long…she’s wearing a 2P (I wore a 0P), and the sweater a tad small, but not enough to size up. The jacket has a stretchy-knit back, so it hugs the torso for a flattering fit. She’s in a small in both the sweater and jacket.
We both loved this lace blouse with the sweet scalloped collar, and the booties give the pants a bit of an edge. I had her turn her head for those of you always asking about her hair! 😉
I lived in this lightweight cowlneck tunic last year, so was excited to see they brought it back in new colors. It’s great for leggings, but looks darling with skinny jeans and low-ankle booties, as well.
Fit Tip: It’s a tad big, but not enough to be shapeless. I’m wearing a regular XS.
I’ve tried this twist-front blouse several times, but my lack of chest makes it a poor fit for me. Obviously it’s darling if you are blessed with ‘girls.’
Fit Tip: Top runs large, mom is wearing an XS with a cami layered under.
I think I’ve converted her to a stripe addict…she ended up wearing this exact outfit (except with red converse) to a family reunion the next day. The cardi is really lightweight, so it doesn’t add any bulk or overheat you on these warm early-Fall days.
This classic t-shirt dress is nice and thick, with just enough stretch to give it shape. And look how cute she is pairing it with booties!! Update: I goofed this graphic…the dress on the left is actually different…more of a swing shape.
Fit Tip: The swing dress runs large, mom is wearing an XS, and the striped boatneck is true to size, she’s wearing a S.
I love a good shirtdress, and this was is extra-darling with the ruffle trim. And pockets! #swoon I liked the longer length, but I’d recommend going with a petite if you’re shorter than me.
Fit Tip: Dress runs large, I’m wearing a reg XS and it felt too big.
They call this the ‘perfect plaid shirt’, and I’d have to agree. It’s a stiff cotton with no give though, so it’s definitely more tailored than relaxed.
Fit Tip: Shirt runs small…I’m wearing a 2 and it’s a little tight in the shoulder.
Slouchy cardigans are kind of my obsession this season…maybe it’s the heat we’re still having, or the laid-back vibe of them paired with my favorite tee…but I can’t seem to stop reaching for them. It’s hard to see in this crap-ball pic, but this one is a pretty deep green. (It’s also under $50!)
Fit Tip: The sweater runs large, I’m wearing an XS, but plan on swapping it for the XXS.
I raved about this dress in yesterday’s Five Under $50, and I can hardly wait to take it for a spin this holiday season! Great length, flattering neckline, exposed back zipper, fully lined and under $50! #bamwhat
Fit Tip: Runs true to size, I’m in an XS…and the red has a definite pink undertone.
I took Little Miss shopping for some longer tunic tees to wear with leggings, and ended trying this funnel-neck pullover for myself! I love layering them over collared shirts, too.
Fit Tip: I sized up one in the pullover for a relaxed fit.
Puffer vests are one of my Fall’s Essential Seven, and this classic black plaid would be a great addition to any wardrobe. The quilted one on the left is thinner and adds pattern, while the frost-free on the right is bulkier and adds warmth. I’ve got a fun post featuring one of these next week!
And finally, both Mama Sugarplum and I fell for the cozy softness of these v-neck sweaters…and of course both chose pink. #itsoursignaturecolor One of us liked it so much she also got blue, but I’m not pointing fingers. #mom
Woo-Wee, this post was a doozy! I do hope you found it helpful, and maybe discovered some new goodies. I know Mama Sugarplum and I had a great time…but being with her is always fun!
What’s your favorite from this round of Dressing Room Diaries? You may want to check out the previous installment because many of the items featured are on sale, and check the codes below for additional percentage off! Happy weekend, lovebugs!

SO FUN! Love both of you in that floral ruffle top, your mama is precious in that little lace number, and my favorite on you was that black top with the ruffle sleeves!
Oh my gosh your mom is the cutest! I love seeing how the outfits work on multiple generations! My mom is always worried things she likes on me will look too young on her (and I don't dress super young lol).
You both look so cute! And your mom looked beautiful before but looks great at her new size! I have my eye on the BP tunic sweater but can't decide on color. Is the red more of a muted red or cheery red?
Thank you! It's definitely muted…more of a burgundy red, than true red. The pic is a pretty good depiction of it. It'd be stunning with your dark hair! xo
The three jeans I was referring to (all new to me this past month), are the BP dark, light and black jeans. The other jeans linked in the post (like the bootcut) I've had for awhile (but still under $100). And my mom hit her goal weight already…so she's not going to get any smaller. She was having glucose issues, but now she's on the right levels! xoxo
Ok. That was confusing on the jeans. And although "but still under $100" may sound good to you, I personally think that's expensive for a pair of jeans…unless you just own 1 or 2 pair.
Dressing Room Diaries with your Mom are my favorite! It's just so sweet to see you gals having fun together! There's nothing better than a shopping day with Mom.
Omg Cassie, this post was amazing! I want it all. 🙂 Your mom is the cutest and so stylish! My age is between the two of you (52) and I love expressing myself through fashion. So many of the fashion bloggers are under 40 and it's really awesome to see your mom and you repping for the over 40 crowd! I love your realness, you're adorable.
Your mom is so cute! I love the matching outfits. I always wonder how long it takes you to try on all those clothes, but it must be a lot of fun! I just love everything and I am pinning those pink lined PJ's, may have to get them!
I ordered the BP mid rise jeans in light wash, dark version is sold out. Can't wait to give them a try and see if they are keepers. Thanks for the recommendation. 🙂
Cheers to almost-Friday, friends! I’m absolutely blown away by your thoughtful comments on yesterday’s Kitchen post!! I was hoping for a few ‘yes, go for it’ or ‘heck no, you’ve lost your mind’s…but you guys took it 10 steps further and suggested some really great ideas.
Adding more warm wood tones is definitely on the agenda…starting with bar stools and counter-top accessories. I loved your ideas of ceiling beams or open shelves, but I don’t know that our Kitchen has the space for either.
And funny enough, we considered painting the vent hood dark…and even did photoshop renderings in this post. What do you think? I still really love the idea of all tile on the back wall, but we’ll take it in baby steps. Thank you so much for taking the time to weigh in!! You know I’ll keep you in the loop with any changes.
Today it’s time for the next installment of Dressing Room Diaries, where I hunt down some of the cutest new arrivals from my favorite retailers, and review them for you. It’s been awhile since my last one, so this is a doozy! And be sure to check the end of the post for discounts on many of these items!
You know the drill…the shots aren’t good, the lighting is bad, my hair is usually past it’s expiration, and many of the items aren’t a good fit for me…but it’s real life, real girl, real clothes…and hopefully helpful for you to see them this way, instead of perfectly styled on a model.
Sidenote: Everything fits true-to-size unless I indicate otherwise. And fyi, I’m 5’4″-ish, 120 pounds-ish, with a slight pear shape. My usual size is an XS/0.
I really wanted to love this layered top, and even though it’s intended to be a relaxed fit, it overwhelmed my frame a bit. It’s by one of my favorite brands for cozy wear, and the crisp cotton layer is a fun touch. Maybe cuffing the sleeves a few times would have helped.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS, so size down one…even if you prefer loose fit.
Same was true for this top….I adored it, but the armholes were just too big. It’d be so cute tucked in a pencil skirt or slacks, or worn casually with jeans and boots, and comes in three great pattern combos.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS. It’s also fairly long.
I like to try new and different styles out for you guys, so I gave this cold-shoulder top a whirl, and was surprised by how much I liked it. It’s as soft and easy to wear as a basic tee, but with fun details to make it different.
Fit Tip: It runs big and is full through the body…I’m wearing an XS.
Okay, plaid shirts are certainly in my comfort zone…and this one has a silky-cotton feel, with high-low hem. It comes in four great colors, and can be worn as a tunic with leggings.
Fit Tip: Size down to wear with jeans, or stick with your regular size for legging-appropriate length. I’m wearing an XXS, and the back is still below my bum.
Shirt dresses are pretty much universally flattering, especially with a cinchable waist. This utility dress is a nice sturdy material, but still drapes well. And while I love the look of peep toe booties, these come up a little too high on the ankle for me. Boots should hit at either the small part of your ankle, or just below or above the knee. I think these particular booties are best for small calves or taller girls. I much prefer these for my height.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing a reg XS in the dress, but petite is available if you prefer shorter length.
Another fun twist on the tee…this one is a pullover, but has a tucked look. It’s silky soft, and surprisingly really cute!
Fit Tip: It runs a tad big if you look at how it fits me, versus the online model. But not enough to size down…I think it’s just a better fit for girls with boobs.
Leather moto jackets are a darling addition to so many outfits, but feminine ones are hard to come by…especially affordable ones that look cute worn open or closed. I love the fit of this one, and would throw it on with everything from jeans to skirts.
Fit Tip: It’s true to size, and I’m wearing an XS.
The deep coral of this faux-wrap romper makes it a great transition piece for Fall…especially for those of us who experience Summer temps well into Fall months. It’d be cute with wedges now, or a military jacket and ankle booties later.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS, which fit well everywhere, but was a little short in the bum.
These type of pullover tops are the easiest Fall outfit when paired with jeans and boots, and later, a scarf. The material is a thick stretchy knit, and has a fun high-low hem.
Fit Tip: I’d prefer a slouchier fit for this style top, therefore I’d recommend sizing up one.
You know a top is good when you seriously consider buying it in both colors. I went back-and-forth, but ultimately took the ivory home…it will be so cute paired with both dark denim, and white jeans. The sleeveless fit makes it great for transitional weather, but you could easily carry it through Winter by adding a jacket. Bonus: it’s half off!
Fit Tip: The XS was perfectly relaxed, but consider sizing down if you like this style of sweater extra-fitted.
Darling puppy on a pink sweater? It doesn’t get any cuter! I have the navy version of this sweater from several years ago, and still get asked about it every time I wear it (see it here). I love it layered over a chambray, gingham, or plaid shirt, too. And the fit of these jeans is pretty much perfection! I love that you can order your exact waist and inseam size, so I get the best ankle length.
Fit Tip: I’m wear an XS in the sweater, and 26×28 in the jeans.
Striped long sleeve tees are wardrobe staples…perfect paired with jeans and skirts, or layered under a jacket. I’ve slowly amassed almost every color in the rainbow, and I’m thrilled to finally add pink to the mix!
Fit Tip: I sized up to a small for a little more arm room, and to withstand the dryer.
This dress made me wish I still worked in a traditional office everyday. Every thing about it is perfect…the color, feminine flutter sleeve, flattering a-line shape, and modest length. Oh, and pockets! #swoon
Fit Tip: I’m wearing a reg 0, but would prefer it a tad more fitted through the waist. It’s available in petites, but I’m usually just a tad too tall and/or long-torsoed for petite dresses or rompers.
This poncho is so thick and heavy I almost had a heatstroke trying it on…but it’s too-cute-for-words, right!? I love that the sides tie, so you have the security of a sleeve (I’m not a fan of ponchos that fit like a bib), and I love nothing more than a chunky turtleneck in Winter.
Ruffles and flutter sleeves look to be everywhere this season, and I’m thrilled with the uber-feminine details. This darling top combined it with little ruffle peplum, for a doubled-dose of girly…so cute paired with slacks, a pencil skirt, or distressed jeans.
I was obsessed with sweaters in this soft pink hue last year, but they sold out before I could get my hands on one. Not this year though!! The soft peony is on it’s way to me now, thanks to a good sale! I love the unexpected soft color in the colder months.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing a S on the left, and XS on the right…I went with XS. It’s fitted, but still enough room to layer over a shirt.
Why yes, more ruffles and peplum…but how can a person be expected to resist when it’s paired with a sporty stripe?! It’s a good thing this shirt only comes in one color. #broke (See how I’ve already worn it here.)
This leopard skirt was a tad big in the waist, but the tie allowed me to get a better fit. It’s a thick silky material, but still had some give to it. (See how I style my leopard skirt here.)
Fit Tip: The skirt and chambray shirt are true to size, I’m wearing a 0 and XS. But the ruffle blouse runs big, so I’d size down one. I’m wearing a 0, but it’s too low in both the chest and armholes.
If you follow me on Instagram, then you know I already own this tee….since I’ve worn it almost exclusively for weeks already! But I wanted to try the next size up in-store, to be sure I had the right fit.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing a S in the pics, but I went with the XS (see that here).
I already have this dress in green (see it here), but had to have the cobalt now that’s it’s on super sale. It’s so chic as a swimsuit coverup, or paired with wedges or sneakers.
Fit Tip: I sized up to a S for a more relaxed, less body-con, fit.
This top had huge potential on the hanger, but I felt like I was working the Clinique counter once I got it on. I think it’d be incredibly chic on a tall girl, when paired with ankle jeans and flats.
This darling dress is a nice sturdy material, but still drapes well. It’s different than the usual off-the-shoulder dresses, in that it has a little more ruffle to the trim and arms…giving it an elevated look. And hello, pockets.
I was drawn to the fit and shape of this dress (and sale price!), but was surprised by how much I liked the orange, too. It’s a flattering fit, and easily dresses up or down.
When you really want to wear just pajamas, but you need to actually be dressed…this is your dress! Insanely soft and stretchy, but thick enough to not show bumps and lumps.
This blouse is wildly popular, and for good reason…it’s a great price (it’s actually on sale for $25 right now!) and comes in tons of colors…plus it’s the right amount of ‘dressed up’ to elevate your jeans outfits. It’s a bit low-cut for my comfort level, so I’d layer a cami, but it should be fine without for those of you with boobs. It comes in this longer tunic version too, perfect for leggings.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS, so I’d definitely recommend sizing down one.
I never met a gingham I didn’t need love…and this one has a fun texture and cute little french cuffs. The smaller collar makes it a little more delicate, too.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing a 6, but would prefer the fit of a 4 (European sizing).
Easiest outfit for night’s out…throw on wedges or booties, add some bling and a clutch, and BAM, mama got a babysitter! Plus it’s comfy with just enough stretch, but doesn’t cling to the stuff you don’t want clung to.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS, but size down for a body-con fit, or size up if you prefer oversized, the fitted sleeves will still give it shape.
I feel like Oprah right now because I want to yell, ‘IT’S ALMOST SCARF SEASON!!!!’ But really, aren’t scarves pretty much the best thing about Fall? This plaid has great colors and pairs beautifully with both solids and stripes.
This dress isn’t one I’d typically try for myself, but thanks to this series and trying new things out for you guys, I loved it! The pattern is small, so it doesn’t overwhelm my frame, but not so small that it’s sweet. It’s cute now with booties, or later with tights.
Fit Tip: I sized up for a more relaxed a-line fit, and am wearing a S.
Ask me how many times I chanted, ‘I do not need this dress. I do not need this dress.’ while in the dressing room. #probably20 But man do I want this dress! Please someone get married or throw a fabulous party so I can have an excuse to buy and wear it!!
Fit Tip: I’m wearing a reg 0, but it also comes in petite if you prefer shorter length.
I was walking out of the store when I spotted this perfect military jacket. #myweakness This one fits like a shirt, but looks like a jacket. I love the length and shoulder flaps, too.
I shared this plaid top in my last Five Under $50, so I figured I’d show you the fit! It’s soft and a little flannely (I know that’s not a word, but you know what I’m talking about!), and has a feminine fit. Sometimes plaid shirts can go a little lumberjack. I’ve been looking for some light wash jeans, but these were a little too stiff.
Fit Tip: Shirt runs small, I sized up to a S and it’s still fitted.
I’ve had a military vest for years, but have yet to find another worth sharing…until now. This one has just enough rugged touches, but the drawstring waist gives you some shape.
Fit Tip: Runs really big, I’m wearing an XXS petite.
Love the relaxed fit of this striped tee, and the soft, lightweight cotton. It’s also long enough to wear with leggings if you throw a long cardigan over it.
I hope you found this post helpful, and maybe discovered some new goodies. I certainly missed Mama Sugarplum shopping with me, but hopefully I can drag her along on the next one!
What’s your favorite from this round of Dressing Room Diaries? You may want to check out the previous installment because many of the items featured are on sale, and check the codes below for additional percentage off! Happy long weekend, lovebugs!

I'm a weird combination of exhausted (trying on that many clothes is a lot of work!) and READY TO SHOP MY FACE OFF after this post! So many good things!!!!!
So many great items! I just ordered a denim shirt dress from Old Navy that looks to be the "fall" version of a short sleeve one I have lived in all summer. And also found a plaid one much like the gap one you tried on. Fingers crossed! And can you believe the "lower" temps Texas has had so far in AUGUST? Insane. I have that BP striped shirt and got to wear it a few times already on a rainy day (staying inside- ha!). Do a post on wearing blanket scarfs. I love the look and started wearing them last year but they can feel overwhelming. Happy weekend!
Great post, Cassie! As always, tons of inspiration and I'm headed to jcrew mercantile this weekend in search of the leopard skirt. One note on the cold shoulder tee-I bought it this summer in the stripe and loved everything about it. Unfortunately after one wear, the thin material was full of holes where it rubbed against my belt buckle, and I had to return it.
You can pretty much rock anything you put on. So many goodies to comment on, but my fave is the little tank with ruffles and then the little triangle in the front. In tan. Obsessed!
I love these posts because it is so helpful to actually see the clothes on a human. I would like to purchase several of these items! Thank you for sharing.
I love these posts so much! Your style is so cute and you inspire me to try new things. I really want to get the pink dog sweater and I love how you pair your navy one with gingham. What color gingham might work with the pink one? I think black or navy would be so cute but I'm afraid that the pattern would show through the sweater and ruin the look.
i was late on the Kitchen suggestions. What if you put a really great molding at the top of the tile. It seems like it needs a finished edge. Maybe a wide wood of some sort. Tiled all the way is cool but a little overwhelming. Might seem just fine if I were in the room.
The apricot plaid flannel shirt is adorable, definitely what I will be trying for myself. As for the beautiful coral layered dress – wouldn't it be a wise investment to purchase it now while it's in stock and have it hanging in your closet ready for the next event which will inevitably come up? (Sheaffer girl-shopping logic…?) Surely you're bound to be invited on another cruise at some point and you'll need to have something for formal nights, right? Kitchen post: I love the look of whole wall of tile, but when others mentioned doing something with the hood vent, that sounded great too. What about some type of wood or metal trim on it like Pam's from Simple Details..?
Hi Cassie! I couldn't get my comment to post yesterday, but I was thinking you could add a "baby mantle" to the front of your hood in your kitchen and then use it as a fun spot to decorate, break up the look of the hood, and add interest to that wall. Love your blog! Maggie
Wow, this post was a whopper, full of super cute stuff! I love that cold shoulder knit top! Buy the coral dress. You'll surely have something to wear it for! I just bought a floor length red "ballgown" type dress, just because it was a steal and fit me great. Now, what ever will I wear it for? I don't know but I'm ready for something fancy!! Think it would be too much for a new profile pic? 😉
Cheers to the almost-weekend! Thanks for all your kind comments this week…I’m thrilled you liked the travel and organizing posts. We’re looking forward to a great holiday weekend…celebrating the Fourth, but also our son’s 15th birthday. I can hardly believe our precious boy is a full-blown young man now (or that I was only 10 when he was born). 😉 He makes me so proud I could burst.
Today it’s time for the next installment of Dressing Room Diaries, where I hunt down some of the cutest new arrivals from my favorite retailers, and review them for you.
The shots aren’t good, the lighting is bad, my hair is usually past it’s expiration, and many of the items aren’t a good fit for me…but it’s real life, real girl, real clothes…and hopefully helpful for you to see them this way, instead of perfectly styled on a model.
Sidenote: Everything fits true-to-size unless I indicate otherwise. And fyi, I’m 5’4″-ish, 115 pounds-ish, with a slight pear shape. Correction, I was 115-ish…before 2 weeks of eating my way through the Mediterranean. #worthit
Let’s get to it…My favorite girls-night or date night look is a loose camisole top that exposes a bit more skin, paired with jeans. This one is a little low, but I’m crazy for the back. I can get away with no bra if the lining is thick like this one, but it’s probably not for you gals that need support.
Fit Tip: The top is true-to-size, but size down in the white jeans (still my favorites, but mine are hemmed for ankle-length).
These eyelet shorts look a little like bloomers in the pics, but they were actually quite cute in person! I wouldn’t necessarily pair them with this cami (all I had in the dressing room with me), but they’d be super cute with a tied-up gingham shirt and flat sandals.
My off-the-shoulder obsession continues, and this one is so soft and gauzy. I loved the material and fit, but not necessarily this color. The blue is definitely a keeper though!
Fit Tip: The top runs a little big, I’m wearing an XS.
Here’s a similar one in dress form, which I didn’t love as much…funny enough, because of the thinner, gauzy fabric. I just feel more comfortable in dresses that are lined or made of thicker fabric. But those of you who are fit will have no jiggle problems!
This boho tank has the cutest embroidery and tassel tie. It’s a soft cotton knit with a billowy shape, too, perfect for hot days. And I could wear these linen shorts every day!
Fit Tip: The top runs really big, I’m wearing an XXS Petite…but the shorts were a little tight across the bottom. I’m wearing a Regular XS, but would prefer a size up.
This flutter panel top is less revealing than the first black one, but also has the cutest back (see it here with more colors, also on sale!). It would be cute with black shorts and wedges for a night out, or under a blazer for work.
Fit Tip: Top runs true-to-size, I’m wearing an XS.
I loved this combo, especially the shirt, if you can’t tell by my face. Now that it’s finally on sale, I’m scooping it up. The popover shape, soft cotton, and combination of colors…I love it all. It will transition well to Fall with jeans and booties, too.
Fit Tip: It’s an oversized fit, I’m wearing an XS.
The only thing I love more than gray with white, is blue with white…and I was cuckoo for this off-the-shoulder chambray top with cute tie-sleeves. The cotton was crisp, yet soft, and the elastic is comfortable on the shoulders. The dress version looks cute, too (I haven’t seen it in person). Considering Loft is having their best sale all year (50% off everything plus free shipping!!), consider this mine!
Fit Tip: The top runs large…this Regular XS was a little wide for me.
When I saw this dress on the hanger, I thought the drop-waist would be too juvenile for me…but couldn’t resist the large gingham print. There’s no denying it’s darling, right!? I love the crisp cotton, too.
Fit Tip: I normally wear petite in Loft dresses, but I think this one needs added length to make it age-appropriate for me, so I’d stick with regular on it.
You should be used to seeing this silhouette on me…definitely a go-to! They’re just so easy to throw on (and eat!), yet the neckline makes it flattering. The stripe on this one makes it feel a little sportier, but I’d wear it with sandals or wedges.
Fit Tip: Runs a tad small, I recommend sizing up one.
I have a few rompers that I love for day-wear, but this one is perfect for nights out. It’s the sister to my lace midi dress, and has a super cute back. You could easily add a jean jacket for when you need to be more covered up.
Fit Tip: Like the lace midi, it runs a little snug…I sized up to a small in this.
I’ve tried a few lace off-the-shoulder dresses, and none have been very comfortable…until now. This one is fully-lined with a soft cotton knit, so it feels like a t-shirt dress, but a heck of a lot cuter! The price is great, too.
Fit Tip: It runs true-to-size…I’m wearing an XS. See it here dressed for date night.
Over the years, I’ve slowly collected long-sleeve boatneck tees in almost every color stripe…they look so cute with shorts, skirts, jeans, solids, and floral…but this might be the cutest one yet. Maybe it’s the holiday this weekend, but I’m feeling all sorts of love for this red and blue combo.
I hope you found this post helpful, and maybe discovered some new goodies. What’s your favorite from this round of Dressing Room Diaries? You may want to check out the previous installment because many of the items featured are on sale! Happy long weekend, lovebugs…I’ll see you back here Monday with some holiday style inspiration!
{Big Holiday Sales} (These are as of Wednesday night, so check each site’s home pages for updates throughout the holiday weekend!) Nordstrom // Major markdowns on Summer, including tons of wedges! Loft // 50% everything, plus free shipping with code JULY4TH GAP // 35% off with code THURS Old Navy // Up to 60% off entire site J.Crew // 40% Summer styles with code COOLSTYLES J.Crew Factory // 50% off everything! Anthropologie // Extra 30% off sale with code EVENBETTER Sole Society // 50% off tons of styles
I'm wearing the 'Nomad', but I think all three would be a great neutral. And I find them true-to-size, if not a tad snug, actually! But not enough to chance my size. Hope this helps! xo
That plaid shirt with hot pink shorts…Oh my…maybe my favorite ever!! Of course it looks phenom on you!! That being said, as we move into July, I am not buying anymore summer clothes!! Although here in TN we still have a lot of hot time left, I am just not feeling anymore summer shopping. Bring on the fall wear!!!
I love the off-shoulder lace dress, but am afraid it will be too short for me. I put the off-should chambray shirt in my cart though….would work into fall.
Trying hard to convince myself I do not need one of everything you featured in this post. Everything looks so much better on you than in the website photos, I swear I'd never order half the stuff I own if I didn't see it on a blogger first! Thanks for all the great finds. If I can't stop obsessing over that plaid popover it will be mine!
Props to women who can wear the off the shoulder and halter types. My larger-than-necessary chest stops a lot of design options from being a good idea.
This is my 5 year anniversary of reading your blog! I was days away from having a July 4th baby and I was stuck inside and decided to decorate for the holiday; a search brought me to your son's 10th bday party, and I've been checking in ever since! And yes, my 4th of July baby is turning 5 this year!
I LOVE LOVE your Blog!!! I do miss your DIY Projects you use to have….please, can you add in any of them sometime? Your Dressing Room posts are GREAT!! Travel too, I know it is where your Blog has taken you too…but DIY some more for us who loved that also PLEASE!!! BTW~You are cute as a Button!!!!
I miss the crafts and projects, too…but with all the travel and the kids home, those have taken a backseat lately. I've been working hard on this new house though, and include several of those posts each month, I hope they've been enjoyable!! Thanks so much for your kind words & hanging with me!! xoxoxo
May I ask which size you are wearing in the "Favorite Tee" from Nordstrom? I think you and I are about the same size, and I would like to order that one! Thanks, and thanks for all the great ideas!
Cassie I was told that the butt cheeks sticking out of shorts are referred to as fibletts hahaha and I agree they should not be sticking out of shorts!!!
Cheers to Friday! Thanks for all your great tips and insight on yesterday’s post, I’m thrilled you liked it! It’s been a whirlwind week speaking at the Bloom Workshop in Florida, and was inspiring to be around such creative and talented women. I hope to share some of the gorgeous images and ideas with you soon. But it was so good to get back home last night, and now I’m ready to spend a spoiled Mother’s Day weekend with my people! (Hint-hint, Mr. SP!)
You may want to grab a drink and a cookie…it’s another doozy!
Sidenote: Everything fits true-to-size unless I indicate otherwise. And fyi, I’m 5’4″-ish, 115 pounds-ish, with a slight pear shape.
I spotted this floral romper from across the store, and couldn’t get it to the dressing room fast enough! The colors are so vibrant, and it has a very feminine (but not little-girly) shape to it. I can see it dressed up with heels for a night out, or with flat sandals and a jean jacket.
Fit Tip: It’s true-to-size, unless you carry more weight through your middle, in which case order a size up.
It’s ridiculous that I even tried this dress on, seeing as how I already own it in three colors…but hello, emerald green!!! If you follow me on Instagram, you know I took two of them with my to Florida this week. They just work for almost anywhere and anything, and pack like a dream.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS. I do get lots of questions about what bra to wear, because the armholes are a little lower…I usually go braless #scandalous, wear a strapless bra pulled down a bit, a lacy bralette, or one of these nubras.
The front straps made this floral maxi stand out, but the fit is better for taller girls with a willowy frame. My usual size was a little big on top, but tight across the bum. I loved the unexpected touch of lavendar.
This darling fit-and-flare was a bit more midi-length on me than the model #shocker, but the lace overlay still allows it to show a little leg. The crossover neckline is unique and so flattering, and fabric thick and structured enough to hold ‘the girls’ in place. It’s definitely a memorable little black dress for all your Spring and Summer functions.
Fit Tip: It’s true to size, unless you’re busty, in which case I’d suggest ordering up one.
This is actually what I wore to the mall, with my pink striped bag…but loved it with the black and white stripe, too. My favorite white jeans have been getting a lot of wear!
Funny, I didn’t know I was on a romper-streak until I put this post together…but clearly I’ve been drawn to them lately! I’m pretty much obsessed with the racerback cut of this one, and the comfy drop-waist.
Fit Tip: It’s a tad big, but I think sizing down would take away the relaxed fit that makes it so cute.
Did you catch the off-the-shoulder top I posted to Instagram last weekend? I figured I’d give the trend a whirl with that $17 shirt, and now I’m smitten. This one is really soft and comfy, with a cute stripe…it’s a little sheer, but not enough to rule it out.
Fit Tip: True-to-size and works well with a strapless bra.
The first thing I do when I get home everyday is change to PJs, so I figured they might as well be cute! Love the lightweight of these, and of course, the pink gingham.
Fit Tip: Size up one, and plan on them shrinking a bit in the dryer.
Shirtdresses are so easy, and universally flattering…and this one is no exception. The fabric is a soft rayon, so it drapes beautifully, and the geo pattern makes it modern.
Fit Tip: It’s a good length for the office, but if you’re shorter like me and prefer dresses to hit above the knee, then order petite.
Colorful or printed camis are an easy chic outfit when paired with jeans or shorts, and this palm print is very on-trend, yet still classic. The jewel-tone colors are so pretty in person.
Fit Tip: I prefer camis to have some length to drape, so I’d stick with regular sizing instead of petite on this one.
These pics don’t even come close to doing this white fit-and-flare dress with emerald green lace overlay justice…it’s so lovely in person. The material is a soft, thick knit, so even though it looks dressy, it’s very comfy and could be dressed up or down. (Sidenote: Unheard of sale for Anthropologie…use code XOXO for 20% off this weekend!!)
Fit Tip: I also tried it in petite size, but it was much too short and made the dress look more cutesy than classic.
I spotted a handful of cute dresses online I wanted to try for myself…starting with this striped number. It’s certainly darling with the cross-back, but too short and thin for my liking. It’d make a cute swimsuit coverup though!
We have a big trip coming up, so I’m on the lookout for fun dresses that work for day and night…and I think this might be a winner. You have to see the back!! It’d be so cute with wedges and a jean jacket for day, and heels and jewels for evening. What do you think? Cute enough to go through the trouble of hemming it??
I shared this swing dress in my last 5 Under $50, and was won over by the pockets. I tried it in a size small in denim blue, and XS in navy (the next pic). I much preferred the denim…for some reason, the fabric of the denim color is definitely much thicker and sturdier, even though it’s not actual denim, than the fabric of the navy. It’s a super cute Summer throw-on kind of dress, best paired with flip-flops or flat sandals.
I loved the rich pink of this maxi, and the halter makes it great for evening. It doesn’t come in petite sizes, but the price is so good it’s worth hemming for the shorter crowd.
How cute is the scallop trim on this shift dress? I love the classy length, and it’s wear-to-almost-anything-ness. And speaking of length, can we talk about how leg-lengthening my nude wedges are!? #obsessed
This dress is pretty much my spirit animal…fit and flare shape, a bow, and pockets! The color makes me swoon, too. I’ll wear it dressed up with these pink shoes, and more casual with my nude wedges or leopard sandals.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing a petite size for knee-length fit.
Whew! I told you this was a doozy! I hope you found this post helpful, and maybe discovered some new goodies. What’s your favorite from this round of Dressing Room Diaries? You may want to check out the previous installment because many of the items featured are on sale! Happy weekend, lovebugs!
{Weekend sales worth checking out} Nordstrom // Tons of sales going on, including a special Triple Points Event! Loft // 40% off Spring new arrivals & extra 50% off sale. GAP // 30% off with code SHINE Old Navy // 30% off all women’s styles J.Crew // 30% off total order with code TIMETOSHOP Anthropologie // 20% off everything with code XOXO…I adorethis dress, too.
This was a long one but I say the longer the better! I have the loft shirt dress and love it so much i have since bough 2 more (loft and old navy). Dresses make getting dressed easy! I hope you are keeping the blue wrap dress… It's made for you! Happy weekend and Mother's Day!
I'm about to be ungirly but I hate hate hate to go shopping. However since finding your amazing blog a couple of months ago you have inspired me 🙂 and thanks for the promo codes, its always fun to save money (plus I can say 'but Baby look how much money I've saved'). Anyways thank you, and this has been my favorite dressing room diaries by far.
It's not ungirly to hate shopping…I totally get it!! But I'm thrilled you find inspiration here and I've hopefully made it a little easier for you!! xoxo
I have that gingham popover and love it! I"m going to check out the blue J Crew dress for a possible graduation (COLLEGE!) dress. Loving all the rompers on you!
I absolutely love all of the picks you've picked out!! Also, I won't lie, I really only came on here to see if there were any funny photo bombs from your husband hahaha
I love these posts, and especially the family photobombs 🙂 Little Miss reading Kondo upside down really got me this week. Your family seems like so much fun!
I love the striped strapless dress! Definitely worth hemming! I am so jealous…so many cute things right now that require a strapless bra. That is just not happening. My 'girls' require straps. Sigh.
The bag charm is a favorite of mine and I switch it often between bags. I have attached empty key rings to several bags so I can easily and quickly switch the charm from bag to bag. Clip and go! Patty
Thank you!! You know, I don't have a good strapless bra I'm able to recommend…I'm not a big fan of the one I have! (hence why I end up braless sometimes!) 😉 I do love those nubras though!! I'll look into strapless bras and let you know if I find one I love! xo
Hope you don't mind me cutting in on the convo but I am obsessed with my strapless bra… I am way bigger than you but I've turned so many people onto the company called thirdlove, small chested, larger chested and everything inbetween! Some of their bras are sold at Bloomingdales but not sure about the strapless one. If you shop their website you can get $15 off with this link: http://share.thirdlove.com/x/6hEjc1
I even wrote about my obsession on my blog! Good luck!!! Xx Dana
You're so funny! I seriously thought everything looked good on you, am I wrong for thinking that?!?! I want that off the shoulder top from gap! Love so much!!
I never talk to anonymous people but you really made my Saturday morning! Your style SO suits you! 😉 And you have given me some renewed inspiration as to how to wear some of my existing wardrobe! 🙂 I like your top shopping outfit with the white denims and shopper! I am going to wear it today! Wishing you and all the girls that made positive comments an AWESOME weekend! x!
I absolutely love the first romper! The colors and the pattern are beautiful. Wish it came in a dress, as it would be perfect for a wedding I am attending:):) I love these post…keep them coming!!!
can I just say your daughter is SO adorable sleeping/reading in the background of these pics. reminds me of when I used to go shopping with my mama. precious.
Cheers to Friday! Thanks for all your kind comments this week, I’m thrilled you enjoyed the posts! I’m off at a blogger conference this weekend…basically a fun few days with girlfriends where we eat a lot of tacos and talk about blogging! I packed some old favorites, a few new pieces, and even rented a fun dress for the final night…hopefully I’ll get some pics to share, but plan to post on Instagram and Facebook, so follow along there if you’re interested.
You may want to grab a drink and a cookie…this one is a doozy!
Sidenote: Everything fits true-to-size unless I indicate otherwise. And fyi, I’m 5’4″-ish, 115 pounds-ish, with a slight pear shape.
Now that I’ve cornered the market on gingham shirts, my focus has turned to stripes. I loved the slightly wider stripe of this one, and the high-quality of the crisp cotton. Definitely a timeless classic that pairs beautifully with jeans, shorts, skirts and slacks.
The pattern and hemline of this dress is striking, but the top is definitely cut for younger boobs than mine. #wholettheairout If you’ve got perky boobs and a tropical vacation this year, scoop this up! Heck, even if you’re only going in your own backyard…if you have perky boobs, please wear this for me!
Shirtdresses are so easy, and universally flattering…and this one is no exception. The fabric is a soft rayon, so it drapes beautifully (don’t you hate when dresses cling to your backend??), and the diamond pattern makes it modern.
Fit Tip: It’s a good length for the office, but if you’re shorter like me and prefer dresses to hit above the knee, then order petite.
I’m pretty loyal to the fit-and-flare shape, simply because I know it works for my figure…but in an effort to branch out, I tried this drop waist flounce dress. The laser cut is a nice detail, and it would be darling with a fitted blazer for work.
Fit Tip: This is a petite, which was great for length, but I’d need to size up so the dress would hang straight and not get ‘stuck’ on my booty.
We don’t do a lot of Spring and Summer sweaters in Texas…the season for them is just too short. I’d rather throw a jean or military jacket over a lighter top. But if you have longer Springs, or cool evenings well into the Summer, you’ll love this extra lightweight textured pullover.
I’m having a love affair with crisp white cotton tops this season…and the ruffle detail of this one had me swooning. Unfortunately, I have a long torso, so it was a bit tent-like in the front for me. I still shed a little tear when putting it back.
This twist front dress does a beautiful job of showing off your shoulders, but still allows you to eat dessert. So basically, perfect for wedding season! The navy and coral is a pretty combo, and softer than a typical little black dress, too.
I was surprised by how lovely this dress is, especially given the price! Once I steam out the wrinkles and start my self-tanner routine, I think I’ve got a winner. So pretty for showers and lunches, right?
Fit Tip: This dress is generously sized, I’m wearing an XS.
Another lovely floral option, with a pretty neckline (pretend I’m wearing a strapless bra)…it comes in a white floral, as well. Unfortunately, I think it’s a little voluminous for my frame. I’m also in desperate need of a hairbrush.
I love a full midi skirt (see one 5 Ways here), but this midi dress felt a tad dowdy on me. I think it would be gorgeous on you taller girls though, and great for so many occassions.
This weekend’s conference is hosting a ‘White Party’ for the final evening…which meant I tried a countless number of white dresses in the last few weeks. I added my favorites to this post in case you’re drawn to pretty white dresses.
This is the white version of the hot little cobalt number I wore in Miami. It got the text-votes of my friends, but the form fit definitely rules out tacos for the weekend. #notworthit
The cotton knit of this colorful dress is a tad too thin for me to wear as an everyday dress, but the price was so good, I almost scooped it up as a swimsuit cover-up. If you don’t jiggle when you wiggle, this is a great sundress option for you. And also, we can’t be friends. #ikid #kindof
Every couple of years, I replace my basic tees and tanks…after literally wearing them out. I was so instantly smitten with the shoulder cut and soft feel of this muscle tank, I grabbed it in three colors…so it’s safe to say this will be this year’s new tank of choice. And finally a pair of relaxed-fit jean shorts that don’t have holes or expose my butt cheeks!
Fit Tip: Both the tee and shorts are true to size for me, I’m wearing an XS and 2, respectively.
I love the idea of this dress…and maybe if it were ironed I’d actually love it, but the top was a little deflated on me. I think if you have a larger chest to balance out the hips, it’d be darling! And certainly different!
Ah, here we go…back to my sweet spot, the fit-and-flare. Probably 90% of the dresses in my closet are this style, but it’s my wheelhouse…and looks good on just about everyone. This one is incredibly versatile…jazz it up with a statement necklace, wear it to work with pearls and a cardi, or keep it casual with wedges or flat sandals. Maggie, however, is not impressed.
Fit Tip: I had a little trouble zipping my usual size, so it runs a tad small.
I adore the Sporty Spice meets Baby Spice of this rugby racerback cami. It will be too cute with white jeans! My new perfect white jeans, to be exact!!
Fit Tip: When I added a bra, the top was a little tight…so I’d recommend sizing up.
Again, I don’t have a lot of need for light sweaters, but that didn’t keep me from reeeeeaaaalllly wanting this one. The lace around the hem was a bit scratchy though, so you might need to layer a tank.
I like boho style on others, but never really gravitate to it for myself. Mostly because the colors tend to be really muted. This vibrant blue was an exception though, and I thought it was really cute. Especially the detailing on the back.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS, and thanks to adjustable straps, I was able to keep it from being too revealing.
I fell hard for this mock collar swing top, and could hardly choose between the colors and the polka dots. It’s made of a thick woven fabric, and has a cute exposed zipper in the back.
Whew! I told you this was a doozy! I hope you found this post helpful, and maybe discovered some new goodies. What’s your favorite from this round of Dressing Room Diaries? Which was your favorite of the white dresses?
You may want to check out the previous installment because many of the items featured are on sale! Happy weekend, lovebugs!
Soooo many cute things! Thanks for sharing – now I need to go shopping. (Especially love that you featured items like the muscle tanks….I've been on the hunt for cute, inexpensive, casual tees for summer.)
Just picked up a cute striped shirt too. The midi does over power you but may work for me as I'm tall so thanks for that. Love the polka dot sleeveless top!! Great picks thanks for sharing 😍
I'm embarrassed by the number of sites I had open at once; I was clicking on nearly each and every thing!! For the white dress option, I vote for the woven fit and flare; super flattering and sexy!
I love every time you do an episode of dressing room diaries! I always find something I have to have. And your real life pictures are so much better than the pics on the website. Thanks! 🙂 https://gwingal.blogspot.com/
I'm really surprised at how adorable that Adelyn scarf dress is….looks so much better on you than on the website! Loving the bobeau polka dots and I grabbed the racerback tank a few weeks back in magenta and I love it! Lots of greatness….can't wait to see what white dress you actually did pick!! Hope you are having a blast!
So many good picks! I was really considering that geometirc shirtdress from Loft last time I stopped by. And that scalloped top from Nordstrom is now on my wish list! If it's still available once April's over (on a spending ban this month) I'll probably buy it!
I love everything! I got the same sandals from Old Navy but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to tie them.. are you double wrapping and then knotting in the front? I only have enough length for one bow in the front and then I would still have to trim the straps!
Yes, I double wrap, then do a single knot in the front. I'm toying with the idea of a single wrap and bow in the back, then just cut the extra length. I don't think you can go wrong with either, just however you prefer! xo
So how was your weekend? I hope it was grand! Ours was full of soccer games, movie dates, school projects, and lots of fun family time. Have you seen ‘Zootopia’ yet? We loved it…so hilarious, and sweet.
Today it’s time for the next installment of Dressing Room Diaries. Y’all seem to like the occasional dressing room snaps I post on InstaGram and Facebook (under #HSPDressingRoomDiaries), so now I expand it for the blog once a month.
The shots aren’t good, the lighting is bad, my hair is past it’s expiration, and many of the items aren’t a good fit for me…but it’s real life, real girl, real clothes…and hopefully helpful for you to see them this way, instead of perfectly styled on a model. You may want to grab a drink and a cookie…this one is a doozy!
Sidenote: Everything fits true-to-size unless I indicate otherwise. And fyi, I’m 5’4″-ish, 115 pounds-ish, with a slight pear shape.
I’m a sucker for hats and scarves, and was immediately drawn to these. I’ve yet to find the scarf online, but spotted several I love as much…like this one, this one, and particularly this colorful option. And the cute hat has me ready for pool season. #exceptthebathingsuitpart #wewontspeakofthose
Loved the same combo with white jeans…so fresh for Spring and Summer. These jeans are the white version of my favorite dark rinse jegging-jeans(they are real crowd-pleasers…even my mom’s a fan!). They cut down on the muffin-top with the a mid-rise, and the ankle length make them perfect for booties and wedges. It was still pretty chilly on this day (hence the booties), but can’t you just see the outfit with wedges like these or these?!
My military jacket gets more wear than anything in my closet during Spring and Fall, and this one is a total winner. I love that it nips in at the waist, and has a little popped collar.
Fit Tip: It runs a tad big, but not enough to size down. I’m wearing an XS.
The navy version had me all swoony, too. It’d be darling with lighter-rinse jeans, white jeans, and most any color skirt or dress. It’s the same fit and shape as the previously shown one, but the navy hue makes it a bit more feminine. I’d pair this outfit with this necklace and these wedges.
I love the contrasting trim and racerback arms of this fit-and-flare dress…all such flattering features. And the color combo is really fresh, too. I felt like it was a tad young for me, but still darling.
Fit Tip: This dress runs a little small, I’m wearing my usual XS and couldn’t (comfortably) zip it all the way. #ormaybeitwastacos
They didn’t have my size in store, but I liked this dress enough to try it anyway. Hard to tell since it’s too big (I’m standing on my tippy-toes), but I think it has real potential. It works with a strapless bra, too.
I’ve been coveting this dress for three years, and now that it comes in pink (and petite!!), I may have to pull the trigger. The green and navy is gorgeous, too. And check out all the perfect reviews!
Fit Tip: I’m wearing a 2R…but the petite is 7-inches shorter, so should be perfect with wedges.
I thought this pattern might overwhelm me, but surprisingly, I liked it. I think because it sticks to just three colors, it’s not overly loud. The sleeve is a nice length for those of you who prefer to cover more arm, and the thick, stretchy jersey material skims over the lumps and bumps. As opposed to clinging to said lumps and bumps.
This is one of those throw-and-go outfits…dress and accessories all in one. (And now it’s 40% off!) You know those days when you don’t have the time/energy/attitude to put an outfit together? This dress has you covered. Although, I thought the bust darts looked a little nipply on me?! #nowyourestaringatmyboobs
Fit Tip: I sized up one for a straight sheath fit. This is a 4R, but again, I’d prefer a petite for shorter length.
When I grow 2 or 3 more inches, I’m totally getting this romper! Do you think it’s possible I’m not done growing yet?! Clearly you can’t wear a bra, so you busty girls might want to skip it. But if you’re tall and lanky, please get this and send me a pic!
You may recall my Tips for Transitioning to Spring…this swingy tank pairs perfectly with jeans, and boots or wedges, for the change of seasons. The keyhole back and side split elevates it from a basic tank, so you could easily dress it up a bit. It comes in lots of fun colors, too.
Fit Tip: Top runs large, but is also intended to have a fuller shape.
This cute striped tee is by the maker of my beloved kitten-cardi…and clearly they’ve mastered soft and cozy fabrics. I’d throw this on with white jeans, shorts, or even tuck into a pencil skirt. The all-stripe version is super cute, too.
I can practically hear my mom swooning over this top. She’s always loved sweet stuff like this on me…which horrified me as a teenager, but now I can’t get enough. I love a crisp white top in the Spring and Summer, and the little flutter sleeve on this one is perfect. So cute tucked into a skirt too, don’t you think?
You’d think someone challenged me to find every gingham shirt, and add it to my closet. #challengeaccepted #namethatshow No one does gingham better than J.Crew…thankfully for us budget-minded folk, J.Crew Factory carries it too.
Spring in Texas could easily mean 80-degrees, in which case, even a cotton sweater is too heavy. But on those wonky days when it turns 50 again, I’d pull this darling boatneck out. And who says blondes can’t wear yellow!?
Popovers are my favorite style of button-up…in fact, if I had my way, all button-ups (or is it button-downs??), would be popovers. They just lay better (or is it lie better??) when tucked in, or left out. I give this pinstripe one, with the roll-sleeves, two thumbs way up.
The first-cousin to my beloved military jacket, is the the military vest. (See it in action on me here.) It’s the perfect layer when a jacket is just too heavy…plus it puts the sleeves of your cute shirt on display. This is another good option, too, with more colors.
Fit Tip: This one runs a little large, but I have a feeling it would shrink in the dryer. It’s almost too long on me though, so you extra-petite girls might want to skip it.
Enough of the military #obsessedmuch, let’s move back to something more girlie…like this cute scallop lace dress. It’s a great shift shape, and sturdy material…yet looks delicate.
Fit Tip: I sized up so it would hang a little straighter. Stick with your usual size if you like it to hug your figure.
If you follow me on Instagram, then you know I had major buyer’s regret for walking away from this pullover…it’s all I could think about when packing for our Spring Break trip. Mr. SP was sweet enough to grab it for me, and it was the perfect top for travel…practically like pajamas!
Fit Tip: I sized up and am wearing a S in this pic, but much preferred my usual XS.
If we could, we’d all wear t-shirts everyday, right? Well this cute top feels like a tee, but the lace tricks people into thinking you made an effort. It’d be darling with shorts or a skirt, too.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing a S in the gray, and XS in the navy…both fit depending on the look you prefer.
I have this utility blouse in two colors already…such a great staple for your work wardrobe, or dressing up jeans. The coral is a fun new color for the season.
This is actually what I wore to the mall…proof of my military jacket/gingham obsession. And my sweet little soccer stud scored her first goal that day!!
The perk of trying stuff on at home, is you can style it to get a better idea of how it will look and wear in your real life…outside the dressing room walls. This top wouldn’t have translated had I tried it with my usual booties, but seeing it with sandals showed what a great evening look it’d be!
I don’t normally gravitate to body-conscious dresses (read my post about that here), but I try to look outside my comfort zone sometimes, too. This dress is actually very forgiving, and had a lot of give. The three-quarter sleeve kept me from feeling too exposed, and the longer length keeps it classy. This is easily one of those dresses you’d find yourself reaching for regularly…pair it with everything from a jean jacket and flip flops, to heels and a statement necklace.
I prefer peplum tops with more structure and a thicker material, but if you like a good boho top, you might want to check this one out. It’s sheer enough to require a cami though.
This is another top that benefits from trying it at home…seeing it with my favorite pom-pom clutch totally sealed the deal for me! I can’t wait to pair it with patterned shorts.
I’ve always been a Nike girl, and they typically last a year or two, depending on my dedication to walking. Usually I go for bright colors #shocking, but I’m actually digging these black ones. They look less like athletic shoes (for days when this becomes my outfit!), but still feel like my good ole walking shoes. Dare I say, almost chic?!
I’m a proponent of selfies not just for blogging, but also as a good way to objectively see your outfit. Many times, I’m not feeling something in person, then see it in a pic and change my mind. And many more times, it’s vise versa! Something else to look for in your selfie, is your body language and expression. If you feel good in something, it will show…like me in this striped number. #maggiesugarplumbomb
Whew! I told you this was a doozy! I hope you found this post helpful, and maybe discovered some new goodies. What’s your favorite from this round of Dressing Room Diaries? You may want to check out the previous installment because many of the items featured are on sale!
I love everything! I did some Spring shopping the other day and now it's chilly outside again here in Austin…buuut 80 tomorrow and then 70 the next! I'm sure you can relate in Dallas!
You should get that body con dress if you haven't already! #hot I saw that dress you've been coveting for 3 years when we were prom dress shopping and I said (to myself of course) "Cassie's dress!". It's pretty in person! Loving all these spring looks and hoping it warms up for good around here soon (snowed last night). 🙁
I think this is your best dressing room diaries to date! I loved all of the white tops! They just scream summer and I love pairing white with fun, bright prints.
This is like the best idea for a post EVER! I love it!! You've tried on some pretty adorable stuff and I think you look great is everything… and I wouldn't say it if I didn't mean it!! I especially like that fit and flare dress! Adorbable!!
Gah! I've been dying for a green military vest but haven't seen anything I've loved yet. YOU DID IT! I jumped on that GAP vest so fast! (And thanks to a spring promo code, I get it in 2 days for free!)
Also, ditto on the love for your low ponytail! I'd love to see a style post on that- mine always end up looking so sporty, and that's only acceptable if I'll actually be sweating 🙂
Love all white eyelet tops! I'm tall and lanky but that romper won't fit me. I'm long waist-ed (and long legged) and the banded waist won't line up on me. I have trouble with sheath dresses even where the hips cut in. Tankini tops cut me off at my widest point rather than being long enough to cover. See? Tall girl problems.
Cheers to Friday! Thanks so much for all your kind comments this week with our Miami Beach {Trip Report} and the House Updates! I’m already feeling like I was a bit ambitious with the spaces I hope to tackle this year, but maybe that will just be a motivator! I’m still playing a little catch-up from being out of town, so we’re looking forward to being home this weekend…and Little Miss’s first soccer game! What’s on your weekend agenda?
Today it’s time for the next installment of Dressing Room Diaries. Y’all seem to like the occasional dressing room snaps I post on InstaGram and Facebook (under #HSPDressingRoomDiaries), so I started expanding it for the blog once a month.
The shots aren’t good, the lighting is bad, and many of the items aren’t a good fit for me…but it’s real life, real girl, real clothes…and hopefully helpful for you to see them this way, instead of perfectly styled on a model.
Sidenote: Everything fits true-to-size unless I indicate otherwise. And fyi, I’m 5’4″, 115-ish pounds, with a slight pear shape.
I used to be a hard-core Loft fan, but ventured away from them for awhile as it didn’t seem to fit my style anymore. But in the last year, I’ve found myself gravitating back, and always find at least one or two things I’d love to wear every time I go in. They are good classic clothes that are stylish, comfortable, and always appropriate. Like this open cardi…love the longer length, and looks great thrown over most any top, but especially a striped one!
I don’t know if it’s here to stay, but Spring came early to Texas this year. This cute boatneck sweater is a great transition piece, and I love the added details of the buttons.
There are several upsides to taking pics of your outfits…you can get a more objective look at how things fit, and go together, and better see if something is flattering. Another is a big-picture overview of your style. and in my case, I’ve noticed I almost always look the same. Which in some ways is good…my style is pretty defined, and I know what I like and what fits my body.
But I also don’t branch out and try new shapes and styles very often, so I’m consciously looking outside my norm now…and that’s how I stumbled on this cute top! It’s not my usual aesthetic, but I was surprised by how much I liked it. So even if you aren’t a selfie-obsessed blogger, I encourage you to snap shots of your outfits…you may be surprised by what you see and discover!
I love Anthropologie for their home goods (and sale room!), but honestly don’t look at their clothes too often…mostly because of the price tag. But this wouldn’t be a very helpful series if I stuck to only my favorite retailers month after month…so at your request, I’ve added a few new spots this go-round, and scoped out some fun pieces…like this colorful infinity scarf. You had me at pink + tassels.
Of course I couldn’t resist the sale room while there, and found this lace dress….which I think has a lot of potential for you taller girls. I don’t see it online right now, but here are a bunch of other sale dresses.
This is actually what I was wearing that day, but I snapped it to show you how something as simple as a striped top can make a basic outfit more fun. (See more ways I jazz up a sweater and jeans here.)
And you know I’m obsessed with this $28 peacoat…so much so, I grabbed it in black. I snapped this to show how the coat + scarf give my casual outfit a more pulled together look.
In keeping with the ‘looking outside my norm’ mantra, I tried a completely different top from my usual style, and thought it was pretty fun! The sweater portion is fairly thin, so you may feel more comfortable with a tank. The lace makes it long enough to pair with leggings, too.
I always gravitate to black and white stripes, so I had to try this one. I think it’d be cuter sized up one or two, and worn as a tunic with skinny jeans or leggings.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS, which fits, but I would prefer a Small so I could wear it tunic-style.
Sidenote: How much do you love my new phone case? It’s from my latest artist crush, Carolyn Joe, and I’ve been obsessing over her pieces on her site and Instagram. I couldn’t be more thrilled for all the successes of my favorite Dallas artists!!
This striped fit-and-flare dress fits great, and is a steal! The back is darling, too. My utility vest is in heavy rotation during transition months, but they are hard to come by, so I was excited to find this one for you. It’s a little more green than olive, but would be cute with jeans.
Popovers are my favorite style of collared shirt because they work so well either tucked or untucked…and throw in chambray, and you’ve got a near-perfect shirt.
I’m a clutch junkie. Amendment: a cheap clutch junkie! And I’d add either (or both!) of these to my collection in a heartbeat! Colorblocking + tassel??? #cometomama
I think every wardrobe needs a well-fitting white oxford…the crisper, the better. I wear them alone or layered under sweaters and blazers, with collar almost always popped. #duh This one has been my go-to for the last several years.
I’m a sucker for gingham and buffalo check, and should be embarrassed by the rainbow of colors I have in my closet. But I’m not. I own several brands, including this one, and love them paired with jeans, skirts, solids, and florals. #ginghamismysignaturecolor
I ordered this poncho when it went on clearance…I thought it a little long on me, but the color was a nice change. It’s now sold out, but here are more options on sale.
Remember that show, “What Not to Wear” with Clinton Kelly? They always put the women in dark, floor-skimming, bootcut jeans. Reason being, they are always flattering…no matter your size or shape, it’s the most universally-flattering fit. I know not all of you are in to skinny jeans, so I tried on several boot cuts to share, and these were hands-down the best.
They aren’t the cheapest, but the fit was spot-on…slightly higher waist, enough room for a butt and thighs, nice dark rinse, and just enough bootcut flare. They were long on me, so you petite girls would need a quick hem. (Mom, you need to try these!)
Between the frozen tundra of NYC and our upcoming ski trip, I’ve been on the lookout for a parka. This one was warm, but still stylish, but a little too small for me. Fortunately, there are tons on clearance this time of year!
You saw the pink version of this sweater in last week’s One Outfit | Three Ways post…I was torn between the pink and black. With the sale price though, I’m tempted by both!
Fit Tip: I sized up to a Small in this pic because I prefer a more relaxed fit, but it’s not necessary. And actually, I probably wouldn’t because it did stretch out a bit.
I discovered this brand thanks to my funny friend, and I’m a hard-core fan of this wrap…so I tried this circle cardi that’s more suited for wearing in public. It’s made of the same insanely-soft fabric, so of course I wanted to wear it to bed out of the store!
Fit Tip: This one had a little static issue…not sure if it was from people trying it on and the carpet, or what. But just a little fyi.
This cowl neck tunic is from my other favorite brand for cozy tops you want to live in. This one has a fun contrasting color, and a fitted hem. And now on super sale!
Fit Tip: I’d probably size up one if you have a fuller behind like me.
I adore pullover ponchos on others, but don’t usually wear them myself…mostly because I’m not sure what to do with my arms! They feel pinned to my side for some reason. But if I get over that, this would be the poncho I’d live in…I can’t even tell you how freaking soft. I thought it was more flattering to have a bit of skin showing, so I layered a tank under and pulled it off the shoulder.
This is the v-neck sister to the previous crew neck…you really can’t beat the price for a cashmere sweater! You’ll see more of this one in an upcoming post.
Fit Tip: I sized up to a Small for a relaxed fit, hence why I had to layer a tank. If you order your usual size, the vneck won’t be too low.
And finally…is there anything better than a good striped tee? I love them paired with floral or plaid scarves. And apologies to the ladies in our surrounding dressing rooms…I should have known better than to bring my aspiring gymnast and her friend! #thegigglesisters
I hope you found this post helpful, and maybe discovered some new goodies. What’s your favorite from this round of Dressing Room Diaries? You may want to check out the previous installment because many of the items featured are on sale!

Thank you for these! I've lost 70 pounds over the past year and have to completely rebuild my wardrobe! You are such a big help :). And a side note… Thank you for posting so early in the morning. It makes 5:30am wake up calls that much easier ;).
SO. MANY. GOOD. THINGS. Your "funny friend". Hahahahahaha! And I tried on that split back LOFT top as well and loved it! And your new Anthro scarf is DARLING.
Loved all the options in this post. I'm always on the search for a classic white shirt. I've been wanting to check out the new J.Crew Mercantile store near Northpark…I'll be on the hunt for a shirt now!
I've been loving LOFT lately as well and have found so many great tops there! And for the record, I don't think one can ever have too many gingham shirts 🙂
GReat variety this week, Cassie!! I've been back at the LOFT as well and my 22 year old daughter shops there for basics as well. Good quality, style, not too trendy, and absolutely the right price point. Thanks for sharing! have a great weekend ~ xo Heidi
Showcasing your blog at my Weekend Spotlight. I spent a 1/2 hour on your blog this morning! Since you share your sizes can I ask what size you buy the Nordstrom denim skinny wash jeans linked to today's blog post on the LOFT finds! xo xo laura {not a trophy wife}
Hi Cassie, another lovely post. My favourite pieces are the whole Antropologie outfit – love that store (especially the scarf) and the split back top from loft – I just love the detail on that. Do you actually buy all the clothes you photograph? You really have mastered taking a lovely mirror selfie – I seem to generally have more luck with my selfie stick – have you got one of those yet?
Thanks so much, I'm thrilled you like the finds. And no way do I buy all this stuff! Maybe one thing from each post. Although I usually wish it could be more, but I'd rather travel! 🙂 xo
I adored What Not to Wear (don't forget with Stacy, too!), and I have my dvr set to record it if they ever air reruns. No matter what jeans are the current "in" style, I will always love a dark wash bootcut with heels; it's the most flattering to me. Idk if you caught the Fuller House cast on Jimmy Fallon, but Lori Loughlin was wearing such a simple basic outfit of fitted sweater and dark bootcut jeans, and she looked the best out of all of them, imo!
Also, I love those DV wedges at Target, and I've seen several bloggers talk about them. Anyone who wants them better snatch them up, because I'm certain they'll sell out!
Funny I felt the same way about Loft but this fall/winter I picked up quite a few things and I've already ordered two t-shirts for spring. Love the black and white gingham shirt nice alternative to the black and white stripe long sleeve T that also was a winter Loft favorite. That Anthro scarf – FABULOUS!
hair ON FLEEK! also, can i ask what size you purchased the denim popover in? i'm 5'4" and small chested; usually am an XS top but sounds like it'd need a S. thanks!!
Thank you!! I'd actually just had it done one of the days I was trying on!! 😉 The popover didn't come home with me…but I was wearing a small in the pic. I'm usually an XS too, but the Small was def a better fit. xo
Is the red and white striped tee in the last photo from Loft or J Crew? I've had my eye on that J Crew one for a few weeks and am afraid they'll sell out in red.
Just had LOFT hold the black cardigan for me. I've needed a new black cardigan. My old one is so faded! Love the length. Thanks for all your great ideas and so great that you shop with your girls! My daughter and I enjoy shopping together…. especially shopping the sales!!
What size do you wear in the JCrew gingham shirts? I am a short pear and have the hardest time finding button-downs that fit well – always too loose up top and too tight across the hips. I want to add a new gingham to my spring wardrobe. Popovers fit me better, but they don't come in as many color/print choices.
Each style fits a little different, but I usually stick with a regular XS (not petite), and they work great for me! Hope this helps…their patterns are so cute!
Holla…Friday!! We’ve had a busy, cold, rainy week, so I can think of nothing more than sleeping late tomorrow and staying cozy all day! I may actually crack a book…any suggestions for a good Winter-read? Who am I kidding…I’m incapable of sitting still all day. I’ll likely be working on the Office Closet project, which, by the way, thank you so much for your input yesterday! It’s cleaned out and demoed, and I’ll hopefully have Elfa install progress for you next week.
But, today it’s time for the next installment of Dressing Room Diaries. Y’all seem to like the occasional dressing room snaps I post on InstaGram and Facebook(under #HSPDressingRoomDiaries), so I started expanding it for the blog once a month.
The shots aren’t good, the lighting is bad, and many of the items aren’t a good fit for me…but it’s real life, real girl, real clothes…and hopefully helpful for you to see them this way, instead of perfectly styled on a model. And you’d think I’d bother to put on make-up and comb my hair before snapping these, but in most cases, you thought wrong. Real life, right? 😉
Sidenote: Everything fits true-to-size unless I indicate otherwise. And fyi, I’m 5’4″, 115 pounds, with a slight pear shape.
I actually discovered this darling hoodie pullover tunic a month ago, but had to wait impatiently for it to hit the website before sharing! It’s the perfect mix of relaxed, but not sloppy, and long enough for leggings. I have a thing for layering hoodies over collared shirts, so that will be my next combo.
Fit Tip: It’s meant to be a relaxed fit, so size down if you don’t want that look. I’m wearing an XS.
I think most every outfit is cuter with a military jacket, but great ones are hard to find! If I didn’t already have one, I’d scoop this one up in a second…great fit, material and details.
I just so happened to be wearing leggings the day Mr. SP and I stopped by the mall, which is funny because I hardly ever wear them. #sarcasm Anyway, I used that as an opportunity to search for mostly tunic-style tops to try on for you. This sweater has cute ribbing, and I loved the added detail of the side zipper, but it felt a little wide on my short frame. Sizing down would probably help that, yet still leave enough length for leggings.
I tried my beloved kitten-cardi in a new color…not sure I love it on me, but would be gorgeous on you dark-haired beauties. When I do wear these cardis with leggings, I layer a long black tank underneath. #coveryourladybitsladies
Pretend I’m wearing an actual shirt under this drapey cardigan, mmmmkay? It’s silky soft cotton, with cute pocket details, but a tad long for the petite crowd. If you love it though, they offer it in petite sizing online, along with a whole slew of colors.
This sweater doesn’t actually work as a tunic (unless you size up), but I pulled it down to cover my lady bits. #yourwelcome I love the deep v-neck…flattering without being too low. It’s a nice change from all the turtlenecks usually seen this time of year. It would be great layered over a blouse and paired with slacks, or tucked into a skirt, for work.
This sweater feels like cotton candy and I wanted to love it so much…but the slight bat-wing was too much for my frame. The color is gorgeous and it’s cozy enough to sleep in.
Many things I spot online, but aren’t available in my store…so my bedroom becomes the dressing room. #maggiephotobombs They call this a cocoon cardigan…which basically means it hugs your body around the bottom, instead of hanging straight. It’s whisper light and soft, and a great outer layer for the hot-natured crowd. And it’s on sale! #bonus
Same get-up, but with a darling leopard scarf. I love that this is a year-round material and not bulky around the neck. It’s a total wardrobe staple and will go with virtually any outfit. I have a feeling it won’t last long, so grab it if you’ve been looking for a good leopard!
I love tops with something extra…and not only is this one a cute stripe, but has a fun contrasting hem and cuff. It’s super soft, but on the thin side, so I layered a nude tank under because of the white stripe. You wouldn’t need the tank for the darker color options.
Fit Tip: Runs large, so size down if you want it more fitted. I’m wearing an XS.
You’ve seen this shot already, but I snapped it in the dressing one day because I was getting so many questions about the peacoat. Which I’m now the proud owner of in black, too. Who am I to argue with that crazy price tag??
It’s not easy to find a sweater that’s relaxed, but doesn’t fit like a potato sack. This is a good one because of the fitted crew neck and placement of the shoulder seams. The asymmetrical hem makes it fun.
This pic is two-part…the first being the sweater. It’s soft, flattering fit, and long enough for leggings. However, I didn’t like it layered over a collared shirt (neckline too wide), so it limits your styling options. It would be darling with leggings or jeans, and a pendant necklace though.
Second, I figured if I were going to continue praising my favorite leggings, I should try some others for comparison. These fit nice on the waist, and I like the charcoal color, but were definitely thinner than the others I’ve grown accustomed to….they just left me feeling a little exposed. But when I see them in these pics, they look fine. So they are definitely a great lower-priced option!
Fit Tip: I would recommend sizing up one in the leggings.
Darling tunic that feels like clouds. Enough said. I think side slits are a thing this season, too, since they appear to be on every other sweater I try on!
I was so instantly smitten with this open cardigan that I stripped a poor mannequinn for it. It feels like pajamas, but thick and structured enough to make people think you got dressed. It’s got all the details of a great throw-on cardigan…shawl collar, pockets, cuffs, and brushed cotton.
This two-in-one top isn’t usually the sort of thing I’d go for, so I was surprised by how much I liked it. It’s not long enough for leggings, but would be darling with jeans or straight-legged slacks.
I actually wore this outfit to the mall, but wanted to show you how I layer a long black tank under tops that don’t fully cover lady bits in the front or back. Also, I had my hair done that day…hence why it’s clean and looks presentable. I’ve not been able to style it like this again, but thanks for the compliments on Instagram! 😉
Speaking of classic sweaters, it doesn’t get anymore stylish and chic than a cable knit turtleneck, and this one is perfection. My stalking skills paid off when I finally scored this fun pink shade, but I want it in literally every single color.
Fit Tip: Runs true to size…I’m wearing an XS Reg, but a S Petite would work, too.
This tie-wrap sweater looked super cute on the mannequin, but not so much on me. Maybe because it’s too small and I tried it on over a sweater?!! Creeper in the back thought it had a sexy librarian feel, but what does he know?
Pretend I’m wearing actual pants (because leggings aren’t pants, right Sheaffer?!)…this sweater has the cutest fair isle print I’ve seen all year, but it was itchy! We’re headed to the snow for Spring Break though, so I tried, and loved, the hat!
I turned the camera on my photobomber, and caught him trying to wiggle his way into new pants. Nice to see the deep-squat isn’t reserved for just us girls!
Whew, that was a doozy! I hope you found this post helpful, and maybe discovered some new goodies. What’s your favorite from this round of Dressing Room Diaries? You may want to check out the previous installment because virtually every single item I featured is on sale!
Also, it’s now embarrassingly obvious I haven’t been exaggerating my obsession with leggings lately! Maybe it’s time I put real pants on. #nah Happy weekend, lovebugs!

Lol…I recently taught my dtrs about the power of the deep squat! As always, love your post! You know, the Fair Isle I got from Loft is incredibly itchy too! I love the J Crew turtleneck sweater. A little pricy for my budget though!
Thank you! My glasses are ridiculously old…both the frames and prescription, but I keep procrastinating getting checked again. They are Kate Spade brand and from just a local optometrist, so I'm sure they are sold everywhere. xo
Since you are an excellent shopper I need a recommendation. My son lives in Dallas and may or may not be looking for an engagement ring. If he was in the market what jewelry store would you suggest?
Congrats to you guys!! So I don't shop for 'real' jewelry, so I wouldn't have any idea! There is a big place I've seen from the Tollway called Robbins Bros, and it calls itself the 'engagement superstore.'Hope that helps!
The deep squat? What is that? I've never done that. I've also never almost pulled a muscle trying to stretch out my jeans in other manners. 😉 So many good things in one post, and you're right m'am….#leggingsaren'tpants
Baaahahahaha!!! The deep squat 😀 The other day my go to jeans came out of the dryer feeling a wee bit more snug than usual #iblamecadbury and I looked like a yoga guru trying to make those puppies work.
I'm crazy for it, too! I stalked it, literally daily, until this color popped back up! When I first posted the sweater, it had 12 or more colors, so I'm hoping they'll restock it, or bring it back! I now have two colors, and would literally wear them all!
The deep squat, lol! Your photobomber cracks me up! If you do get the chance to cuddle up with a book this weekend, here is my recommendation. It is not just a military book, it is one of the best "human" stories you'll ever read.
Oh my goodness! So many great options! What do you use to keep your Hunters so shiny? Mine have a white film over them, and I can't figure out what to do to make them shiny again! Thanks!
My black Hunters are only about 3 months old, so they are shiny mostly because they're new. I will buff the white scuffs with a dry cloth, and that helps. I've also heard Goo Gone works wonders! xo
Do you have any issues with your kitten cardi pilling? Mine is gross on the sides and under the arms, and I've only worn it twice. First, I thought my bag was the culprit, rubbing against the side, but now I can see its just the arm rubbing against the side. So frustrating!
Oh no…that's a bummer! I don't have any issues with piling, and I've had mine for several years. I'd definitely take it up with Nordstrom, they'll more than likely exchange it. xo
Okay, Mr. SP was cracking me up this entire post!! I've never commented before, but love your blog, and just had to say that it made me laugh and I'm glad I'm not the only one whose husband does deep squats (mine does kicks too!) while trying on new pants. He did it in a SUIT the other day and I kind of died. Happy weekend! 🙂
I'm typically an XS, but am wearing a Medium in the coat…a Small fits me, as well. I decided to go with the med for more room with layers and sweaters. The Med is a tad long in the sleeves, which I don't like in a blazer, but I'm okay with in a coat. You know? Maybe order one and two sizes up and try both? Free shipping and returns makes it pretty easy. xo
Boo! The J Crew sweater sweater is sold out in that color and in every other color in a small. But I'm content laughing at Mr. SP photobombing nearly every pic–with new pants or just mugging for the camera.
I became obsessed with that leopard scarf when you showed it last week with the camel sweater. Well, I ordered the scarf plus you sent me on a hunt for a cute camel sweater (found on deep discount at Loft!!) And now I have to buy that black cocoon cardi because it looks so good with the leopard scarf. And that's not all! I also had to tract down a pink gingham blouse because of that same post last week ~ and that's not easy to do in January, but I did it 🙂 Talk about a stalker :0
Love your style, Cassie! I've found so many great items lately because of your blog!! One question, what kind of long black tank do you have and what kind of nude camisole? I haven't been able to find something that doesn't shimmy up all throughout the day. So frustrating! Thanks for all the smiles you provide. 🙂
Thanks Jen! I like the Long and Lean tanks at Target…H&M makes a really long one, too. As for nude, I grab them from Old Navy when on super sale…they make a great under layer to smooth and hide! 😉 xo
Dressing Room Diaries must be scrolled through twice…every time! Once for the great fashion finds and a second time for the hilarious dressing room photobomber 🙂 Thanks for all the great ideas and inspiration!
Cheers to Friday! I’m sure you don’t need me to tell you it’s the last weekend before Christmas! I did a fair amount of gift shopping online during Black Friday and Cyber Monday (see my sale picks here & here), but that just gave me a false sense of accomplishment, and I haven’t done any since!
So I’ll be scrambling in the coming days to finish up! Fortunately, many retailers are offering expedited shipping, so everything can arrive by next Thursday. (See the end of this post for my list of top sales!)
But, today it’s time for the next installment of Dressing Room Diaries. Y’all seem to like the occasional dressing room snaps I post on InstaGram and Facebook using #HSPDressingRoomDiaries, so I thought it’d be fun to expand it for the blog.
The shots aren’t good, the lighting is bad, and many of the items aren’t a good fit for me…but it’s real life, real girl, real clothes…and hopefully helpful for you to see them this way, instead of perfectly styled on a model. And you’d think I’d bother to put on make-up and comb my hair before snapping these, but you thought wrong. Real life, right? 😉
Sidenote: Everything fits true-to-size unless I indicate otherwise.
This is actually what I wore to the mall one day, but made a beeline for this cross body bag and had to snap an immediate pic. #totallynormalbehaviorright Of course I’m a sucker for a tassel, and I love the fold over style. It comes in gorgeous colors and priced unbelievably low considering the quality. And how cute is the leopard one??
I’m having a moment with relaxed sweaters…they are just so comfy, not to mention, hide the evidence of my holiday indulging. This one is a soft, chunky weave, and great length for skinny jeans or leggings.
Fit Tip: I happened to be wearing a white tank that day, but I’d layer a dark one under this sweater. Simply because the weave is larger.
Plaid and stripes are my pattern-mixing nirvana, and this vest is two words….Dar. Ling. It’s on the pricey side, but I haven’t seen anything like it anywhere else.
This cute striped number is part sweater and part poncho. I love the loose turtleneck and peek of shirt under the shorter sleeves.
Fit Tip: If you’re on the shorter side like me (5’4″), size down so it doesn’t overwhelm your frame. I’m wearing a Small in this pic, but an XS would fit better.
Now that I have the world’s best leggings(which are back-in-stock and on sale!), I’m on the hunt for longer sweaters and tunics to cover the lady bits. This cowl neck is a soft, lightweight fabric, and fitted enough to still show your shape. It also comes in tons of great colors.
You may recall this dress actually came home with me…I’m excited to layer it over a long-sleeve tee and tights. Love the big turtleneck and modest length.
Is it still considered a cardigan when it’s longer than your coat? Either way, this marled cardigan is super cozy and soft, I just wish I were a bit taller for it. If I did wear it, I’d opt for ankle booties in order to show more leg.
This sweater dress is a total winner…soft, slightly fitted through the torso, and great length. It’d be so cute with a vest and pendant necklace (like I styled this one). I’d pair it with tights and booties when the weather is chillier.
I loved the stripe and softness of this tee, but was on the fence with the sizing. I suggest either sizing up (and layering over a tank) to wear with leggings, or size down for a fitted first layer under sweaters and vests.
For these Dressing Room Diaries posts, I’m typically just looking for things I want to buy in order to share them with you….but not actually buy them. Clearly I can’t shop like this once a month! But every trip usually turns up at least one thing I can’t bear to part with…and this cable knit cardigan was it this time. It just says ‘Winter Chic’ to me…something so Ralph-Lauren-classic about it. I’ll wear it with jeans, skirts and pants all season long.
Another cute open-cardigan, this one with fair isle trim. It’s a good thing this plaid shirt wasn’t in my size because I’d have surely brought it home. And Lawdy knows I don’t need another plaid shirt!
You’d think I lived up north the way I love coats…if I needed another coat, I’d get this one for sure. The toggles, the fur trim, the hood, the length….all greatness. And yes, people saw me snapping this pic. #noshame
The website shows this cocoon cardigan (which is just a fancy word to say it hugs the front, rather than hangs or drapes) with pajamas, but I think it’s just as cute (not to mention soft!) with jeans. I also liked the fitted sleeve with draped shoulder…gives it a relaxed, yet chic, look.
I really wanted to love this top, and the reviews are great, but it’s just too big for me. The lace sleeves are a fun touch…comfy like a tshirt, but jazzed up a notch. I’d wear it with a gold pendant and leopard heels for a night out.
Fit Tip: Size waaay down unless you want a boxy, off-the-shoulder fit.
I can’t believe I actually tried on PJs…I’ve wanted a matching set for three years, but am always shocked by how pricey they are. These were definitely a great find, and I can’t wait to wear them Christmas morning!
Pink is pretty much my signature cullah #namethatmovie but I love the unexpectedness of it this time of year. Obviously, since every sweater I gravitated to at Loft was shades of pink. This one was particularly soft and stretchy, covered lady bits, and had a fun side slit.
The color of this one isn’t as intense in person as my crapball phone pic…but I loved it. I’d totally wear it with a black striped turtleneck and black leggings. It’s part of Loft’s Lou & Grey line, which is all on a rare sale!
This one has the opposite problem…it’s crazy long. I want it to work so badly, but am still on the fence about the fit. It’s slouchier than I anticipated, but would be awfully cute with leggings! #twistmyarm To be fair, this is a size up from my normal.
Someone tell Mr. SP he already got me this tunic. The website calls the fabric a lovechild of your favorite cashmere sweater and beloved sweatshirt. Okay, the lovechild part was mine. But it’s a perfect descriptor…I don’t know if I want to wear it everyday, or sleep in it. Likely both.
Fit Tip: I sized up for a more relaxed & longer fit.
Sorry no Mr. SP photobombs this round…no way he was going near the mall during holiday season! And you may have noticed my frequent wearing of the tassel-tie chukka booties…obsessed is all I can say. They are truly the most comfortable shoes I own. Even more than tennis shoes! I’d scoop them up in taupe if I didn’t already have taupe booties. My mom actually has the orange ones and loves them!
So what are your favorites from this installment of Dressing Room Diaries? See anything you want to try for yourself? Are you just about done with your Christmas shopping, or just getting started? Maybe some of these things will be a good match for someone on your list!
We’re hosting our first big party in the new house tonight, and I haven’t decided if I’m wearing this dress, or this one. But as long as we don’t run out of wine, no one will care, right? Happy weekend, lovebugs!

I could seriously buy one of each!! I got that Fair Isle from the Loft and plan to wear during the holidays. It's comfy cozy! You look great in all of it! I'm trying to be good and not buy much else, but you've got me wanting a few things!!
Love everything! Thanks for doing these post it really helps. I have a similar long cardigan with pockets that I got Black Friday and never know what to call it either so it's been dubbed my cozy sweater. Have a fun party!
This post must have taken for-ever! Thanks for your dedication. Never commented but you have inspired my wardrobe…I too love mixing prints, stripes, plaids, florals. You do it so well. Have a wonderful holiday!
I clicked on the link for the leggings and they don't seem to be on sale. Are they the right ones? I have a pair of Hue leggings but not the Blackout ones. I adore those chukka boots!!
I got my Chukka boots yesterday! I got the gray ones. They have received mixed reviews from my tween/teen children!! But I plan to wear them to the mall today!
Cassie, you could wear a burlap sack and look good. But really, my favorite is the simple black turtleneck sweater dress. You can wear it 100 different ways. I also agree with others…. You provide great inspiration with these posts!
Cheers to Friday, friends! Thanks for your excitement over yesterday’s ORC news. Knowing you’re following along is added motivation to git ‘er done! I guess I don’t have to tell you what we’ll be doing this weekend!
Today I’m excited to share the next installment of Dressing Room Diaries. You guys seem to like the occasional dressing room snaps I post on InstaGram and Facebook using #HSPDressingRoomDiaries, so I thought it’d be fun to expand it for the blog.
The shots aren’t good, the lighting is bad, my hair is usually past it’s expiration (or completely unbrushed, as is the case in some of these!), and many of the items aren’t a good fit for me…but it’s real life, real girl, real clothes…and hopefully helpful for you to see them this way, instead of perfectly styled on a model. There’s also a few ridiculous Mr. SP (and his sidekick, Little Miss) photobombs!
Sidenote: Everything fits true-to-size unless I indicate otherwise.
This laid-back, casual look is easily one of my favorites for Fall…it’s a no-brainer outfit that always works. Sometimes simple is best! The scarf is a nice lightweight gauzy material, so no heatstrokes during these early Fall days.
Sometimes the cute stuff is only available online, so in those cases, my bedroom becomes the dressing room. I’ve been scouring the internet looking for the perfect plaid shirtdress, and this one is a winner. I love the pattern, front pockets, and collar…it even has a cute contrasting cuff. It doesn’t come in XS, so it fits a little looser than I’m accustomed, but I think that lends to the relaxed feel. Stay tuned for a {Now & Later} post with a similar one next week!
Hot dang…this is a real Date Night contender. Mr. SP’s eyebrows shot straight up when he saw me try it on. It’s made of a thick, stretchy crepe, so it smooths the lumps and bumps. How fun is the asymmetrical hem and back cut-out?? Not sure I need it, but I sure do love it.
Other than jeans, I don’t wear a lot of pants. I think skirts and dresses are just more flattering to my figure #bigbootie, but I’ve had some requests now that the weather is cooling off to find pants. I actually really liked these fitted pants…nice thick material, and wide waistband. They feel like leggings, but have pockets like pants…kind of the best of both worlds! And these were excellent leggings as you can see by their perfect reviews!
Fit Tip: This blouse is a great staple, and is perfect for work and weekend, but runs reeeeally big. In fact, I’m wearing an XXS Petite.
The muted colors and subtle pattern of this dress were really pretty, and great for transitioning to Fall. The back has a fun, unexpected cut-out, and as you can see, it’s not nearly as short on me as the willowy model. I loved the simplicity and color options of this black dress, but feel like it overwhelmed my frame a bit. It’d be great for taller girls.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS in both, so they run a tad big.
I love the feminine and flirty shape of this blouse, and was surprised that I actually liked the color. I usually go for colors that contrast my hair. It’d be gorgeous on you brunettes, but I’d pair it with a bright lip to avoid looking washed out.
Fit Tip: It photographs sheer (thank goodness I actually wore a bra this shopping trip!), but isn’t in real life.
I haven’t worn a drop-waist dress in, well, a lot of years. But this one is actually darling. I can just hear my mom now, ‘Oh!! That’s so cute on you!!!!!’ Love it for work with heels and a cardi, and weekend with boots and a jacket. Update: the dress is on sale for $34 when you add it to your cart!
I may have remembered my bra, but not my make-up…so never mind my naked face. Cute rugby striped dress in a substantial-weight cotton…even cuter with a rugged jean jacket. Update: This dress is $34 too! Just add it to your cart and the price drops again!
Fit Tip: Jean jacket runs big…I’m wearing an XS and it’s still too big.
This darling striped swing dress is crazy-soft, but thick enough to not let everything hang out. #knowwhatImean Can’t you just picture it with a vest and booties?! And the plaid shirtdress was another contender, but I didn’t love the unfortunately-placed crotch pleat.
The upside of trying on at home is I get to pair things with the right shoes and jeans. If I didn’t have an arsenal of puffer vests already, I’d scoop this one up. I’m working on a {5 Ways} Puffer Vests…but love them so much I could easily show you 20 Ways!
Yep, this is the plaid shirt from my {Work to Weekend} post earlier this week. This look is kind of a work/weekend hybrid…casual with the jeans and boots, but a little jazzed up with the pearls. #swoon
This is a similar plaid, but a lighter material and longer, boyfriend shape. Bonus for being long enough to wear with leggings! #coveryourladybitsladies And since we’re all friends here, let’s pretend I combed my hair and put on a little makeup before shooting this batch. And we’ll assume my teeth are brushed, too. #theyarent #itwasearlysaturdaymorning But of course my bed’s made! #priorities
I like the nubby texture and color block of this top so much, I immediately added it to my Sugarplum Picks(click the shopping bag graphic in my sidebar for more of my seasonal favorites).
So what are your favorites from this installment of Dressing Room Diaries? See anything you want to try for yourself? And don’t worry, Mr. SP, I don’t buy all the clothes, I just enjoy sharing them! (I also return them all back to the racks…I remember what it’s like to work retail!) Happy weekend, lovebugs!
The reviews will say to size up or down in many of the Vigoss, because depending on the style, the fits are different. But I just always order my usual size in all styles (26), and some are looser than others. I just reach for those on 'those' days. Knowwhatimean? 🙂
You should keep the floral swing dress, it's adorable on you. And the black drop waist is classic and fresh at the same time, you could do a lot with it. We are heading into cold sweater season here in Illinois, so I'm interested in swetaeters. The textured ON one is on its way to me, they carry tall for us long waited girls, can't wait to see how you tell me to style it.
I'd love some of that cold weather! I sweated my face off trying to shoot next week's plaid dress post yesterday!! Hope you like that ON sweater, they are having a really good season with these new styles!!
Enabler!!!! 😉 I love the color and shape, but it might be a little too VAVOOM for me!?! I still have it, so obviously there's a reason I haven't returned it yet! 😉 xo
I always wondered why you don't wear dress pants or pants other than jeans. Must be a southern climate thing. Maybe you could indulge us Northern readers and try some dressing diaries outfits with dress pants? Skirts and dresses just aren't options during our colder seasons…and I can't wear jeans to work 😉 Love from your biggest fan!
When it cools off enough, I add tights to my dresses and skirts, but they can really ruin a look quickly! I'll keep my eye out for pants! Gap used to be my go-to for them. xo
Okay, the band reference is hilarious! I was totally going to write that (Mr. SP always says 'I love that band' when I say random phrases like that!)…I wondered anyone would get it though. 🙂
And girl, I love that racerback dress. It packs like a dream, and works for everything from a swum suit cover up, to casual lunch, and even dressed up for dinner. And it's less than $50! #bam It's in my Sugarplum Picks xoxo
It's a tad tight getting on (mostly because you pull it over your head and shoulders), but once on, I found it TTS. I'm wearing an XS. I guess if you want a slouchier fit you'd size up. xo
I have that Rugby dress and love it and I've had that polka dot top in my cart for a week trying to decide whether or not to pull the trigger. Think you sold me! Trying to figure out how I've missed that striped swing dress…would be perfect for an Aggie football game.
So many fabulous pieces! I own a bunch of them and have several more in my cart so it's fun to see them on you too! I think we'd be shopping besties 🙂 Have a great weekend!
Love all of these combos! I am getting the rugby dress and the asymetrical hem, too cute. The only one I don't think you should go for is the plaid shirt dress – you have wayyyyyyy too gorgeous a figure to hide it in that dress, it's sort of shapeless! I hope that's ok to vote on, I love your style 🙂
It's always okay to weigh in!!! Thanks so much, Katie…I went with a different plaid shirtdress, it's got a bit more shape (I hope) I'll share it this week! Hope you love the dresses you picked up!
i agree with Katie – but u cud always dart it in the sides if u really like it. i luv all of them, but that baseball t – looks just like its calling for fall! give me a starbucks pumpkin spice latte, and i;m good!
Thanks Lauren!! I do watch what I eat (for the most part) during the week, and splurge on weekends. And walk the dog almost everyday. But I do think genetics has a big role in it. Happy Tuesday!! xo
This is hilarious and awesome. I take these kind of photos all of the time to send to my hubby for a quick buy or don't buy decision. Haha You are a brave woman for posting and what a fun post it is to flip though! It is neat to see what these clothes looks like in real life–not an edited clipped in the back version.
I am especially loving the black shift dress and Old Navy vest. Super cute!
Cheers to Friday, friends! Today I’m excited to share the next installment of Dressing Room Diaries. You guys seem to like the occasional dressing room snaps I post on InstaGram and Facebook using #HSPDressingRoomDiaries, so I thought it’d be fun to expand it for the blog.
The shots aren’t good, the lighting is bad, my hair is usually past it’s expiration, and many of the items aren’t a good fit for me…but it’s real life, real girl, real clothes…and hopefully helpful for you to see them this way, instead of perfectly styled on a model. There’s also a few ridiculous Mr. SP (and his sidekick, Little Miss) photobombs!
Sidenote: The shoes and jewelry I’m wearing in these pics just happen to be what I had on that day, not necessarily what I’d pair with the outfits. Side note to the sidenote: Everything fits true-to-size unless I indicate otherwise.
This striped cardigan was hands-down, my favorite find. And from the response on social media, it was a favorite for most of you! It’s the same brand as my beloved kitten-cardi, but a completely different weight and feel. It’s thin and a bit stretchy, with no front closure, and longer in the back. It comes in a few color options, but stripes are my weakness.
You may remember this dress from yesterday’s {Trip Report}…I couldn’t wait to get this baby to the beach. But instead of putting it away when we got back, I paired it with a jean jacket for work (see that look here). I wear it braless, but you could convert your bra to backless with this strap, or pasties if you need some coverage.
Fit Tip: I ordered up one size, my usual size made breathing difficult.
I love a feminine plaid, and this one is spot-on. The material is crisp, yet soft, and the color is so flattering.
Fit Tip: These are my go-to brand of jeans…some styles suggest sizing down, but I stick with my same size for each. Some do run a little bigger, but I just reach for those on my bloated days. #justsayin
I loved the pattern of this dress, but I’m not a fan of mock turtlenecks, or turtlenecks with sleeveless tops. For me, if it’s warm enough for sleeveless, then I certainly don’t want to be wearing a turtleneck! #hotflash But the thin, stretchy knit makes up for the hot factor, so you might love it.
This dress has a similar shape, minus the turtleneck. It’s also lined, making it more suitable for wearing {Day to Night}. Note too, the shape of the straps…it’s so flattering when they cut in showing more of your shoulder. This dress also has a good work-appropriate length, and would transition easily to Fall with a cardi and booties.
This flirty number screams {Date Night Style} to me, and I really wanted to take it home, but am on the fence if the color is good for me or not. I let the mock-turtleneck pass since it’s for the fun tie in the back.
I really wanted this dress to work, but I think the pattern is a little overwhelming for my frame. I’m also wearing the wrong size in these pics (it runs true-to-size, they just didn’t have my size in-store). I did love the sleeves, front pleat, and length…so I’m hoping one of the solid colors will work better.
I love a good shirtdress, and I’m having a love affair with this olive color lately. This dress is a good sturdy material, and would be cute belted, and worn with low booties.
This pull-on skirt has a fun stripe, and handkerchief hem…and is on super sale.
Fit Tip: It was a tad tight around the wide waistband, but not enough to size up. Now that I think of it, I’d just had tacos for lunch. Yes, it must have been the tacos.
The picture doesn’t do this skirt justice…it’s the perfect a-line shape, and the sturdy material means you can wear it into the Winter with tights, as well. The sleeves of this tee are a flattering longer length, and has the cutest zipper in the back for a touch of edge.
If I didn’t already have a utility jacket I loved more than my luggage, I’d scoop this one up! It is a bit thicker than mine, so it could serve as both a cute layer, and an actual jacket. Seriously, it’s a good one! And trust me, you’ll wear it constantly…I’ve got a {5 Ways} coming up with one.
Fit Tip: If you prefer yours fitted, size down. I’m wearing an XS in the pics.
Here I am, reaching for this olive color again…it’s just too good for Fall, and pairs well with every other color. These roll-tab sleeves are my favorite part of this blouse, and the shape and drape is subtly sexy. And who doesn’t want to look subtly sexy?? (Pssst, it’s also 50% off!)
My old standby combo…stripes and floral. Both of these pieces are soft against the skin, and would mix and match with a large percentage of your closet.
And let’s focus on the jeans in this pic (and the one above)…many of you ask for denim options outside the Juniors dept, and I’d highly recommend these! They are straight-leg, so you don’t feel like you’re being squeezed into pipe cleaners, the rise is a bit higher, so no muffin-top, and they are a soft denim with just enough stretch. Flattering and grown-up, but not a ‘mom jean.’ #winnerwinnerchickendinner
Fit Tip: I sized down, and went with petite sizing so I wouldn’t have to hem.(I’m 5’4″ish)
I wasn’t real impressed with the new offerings at Old Navy, but I found a few keepers…starting with this striped cross body bag. Talk about a {Look for Less}…check out the similarities to this pricier one! And this knit sheath dress would be an easy work staple.
Fit Tip: Size up one in the dress if you don’t want a body-conscience fit (I’m wearing a Small).
I love a cozy, easy-to-wear draped cardi, and this one fits the bill. I prefer to pair them with a low tank so the collarbone and neck stays exposed. And according to Mr. SP’s body language, my time is up!
Did you notice how good my black earrings looked with every single thing I tried on? I had no idea I wore them that often…but now I know why I reach for them all the time.
So what are your favorites from this installment of Dressing Room Diaries? See anything you want to try for yourself? And don’t worry, Mr. SP, I don’t buy all the clothes, I just enjoy sharing them! (I also return them all back to the racks…I remember what it’s like to work retail!) Happy long weekend, love bugs!
P.S….It wouldn’t be a holiday without major sales! Many of the items shown above are on sale, and here’s a round-up of my favorite retailers, and their big blowout end-of-season sales!

I seriously tried on that same buffalo check with a chambray shirt. I really think I need to go back and grab the vest..loved the weight and the fit. Have a great weekend!
I have the zipper back longer sleeve top from gap and love it! I'm loving olive right now and have my eye on the ON vest but in the olive color. Love these post. Keep 'em coming!!
Ok, question. I purchased that olive shirt dress you showed above. I really like it! You mentioned belting it. Have any suggestions? I always struggle in the belt department. -Amy
Hi cutie! I prefer a belt on the thinner side, so you're just accenting the waist, not shining a spotlight on it. Like 1-inch or so. And a good cognac leather would be great….then you could still pair the dress with gray/brown/black booties and bag. Does that help?? OH, you could also do a thin leopard belt!!! #calmdowncassie #itsjustabelt xoxoxo
Oh honey….my phone is FULL of the things that didn't look so good! But if it's truly awful, I don't post…not bc I look bad, but because I think it will be bad for most people. These are the things that I feel would work for lots of different peeps. Glad you like the series!! xoxo
Ooo I like the Buffalo Plaid so much, I wish it came in green!! I'll just say my spouse and I are calling number 6 The Used Cupcake Liner Dress and leave it at that.
I saw that vest in Old Navy and passed it up. Now I feel like I need to go back. I bought the jeans you're wearing in that last pic. I not a fan of Old Navy jeans in general, but those fit me so well. I got to buy a size smaller than normal, so that was a plus!
That spotted dress, IS SO cute! I am just not sure where I'd wear it… but, I love it! I also love the red plaid vest and the b/w skirt with the white knotted tee! Now I need to go back and pin, pin, pin… Happy Friday!
The spotted dress was perfect for summer parties and vacations…but I was surprised by how easily I could wear it in my everyday life by just adding a cardi or jean jacket! The pattern and shape is darling, it's just the back that limits it some. xoxo
Hi Kathryn…I'm wearing a regular XS. If I were to get it, I'd likely order a Petite XS online. It runs a tad big, and even though it's a more relaxed fit, you still don't want to drown in fabric! #notacutelook 😉 xo
Thanks for your comments and questions on yesterday’s Alaska {Trip Report}! I’m planning a post profiling the ship, along with tips I picked up along the way, so I’ll be sure to include answers to your questions then. Feel free to leave any questions you have about cruising Alaska here.
Today I’m excited to share the second installment of my newest series…Dressing Room Diaries. You guys seem to like the occasional dressing room snaps I post on InstaGram using #HSPDressingRoomDiaries, so I thought it’d be fun to expand it for the blog.
The shots aren’t good, the lighting is bad, my hair is usually past it’s expiration, and many of the items aren’t a good fit for me…but it’s real life, real girl, real clothes…and hopefully helpful for you to see them this way, instead of perfectly styled on a model. And I was able to sweet-talk Mr. SP in to coming with me on one of the trips again!
I’m all about lightweight dresses during the Summer…I love how one-and-done they are, not to mention cool in the hot Texas heat. This wrap-look dress with flirty tulip hem was a favorite of both mine and Mr. SP. It’s pretty hard to beat the price…and so easy to dress up and down.
Sidenote: The shoes and jewelry I’m wearing in these pics just happen to be what I had on that day, not necessarily what I’d pair with the outfits.
Side note to the sidenote: Everything fits true-to-size unless I indicate otherwise.
This sleeveless jersey dress is a great office-appropriate length, and easily moves from work week to week end with a shoe swap (like I did here). This dress runs big…you can see I’m almost swimming in the XS.
This striped skirt has my name written all over it! Super soft, flattering fit, great price, and even pockets! I asked Mr. SP if he thought it was too long on me….his response:
“Not the way you’ll wear it with heels and a cute jacket.”
Excuse me?! Who is this man, and since when does he pay such close attention to what I wear?! #Ilikeit #theskirtisminenow
It’s so fun with a floral print, too! The skirt is true-to-size, but the tank runs large. I love the little notched neckline of the top for a little something-something extra.
This tank comes in a multitude of colors and prints, but I was partial to the Navy Wave for it’s subtle pattern and crispness when paired with white. I’d say you need to size down one or two…so if you’re normally an XS, you might want to consider this tank instead.
I crossed over to the romper dark side this year, but I’m very particular about which ones I’ll wear. They are fun to wear in place of a dress at night, and easier than shorts for day. Unless you need to pee…then I second guess it. Palm print is all the rage this year…and this pattern is a really good one, especially given the price!
I made an audible gasp when I spotted this gauzy split-neck top…it makes me feel like riding a moped around Santorini. Or something like that. It runs reeeeally big, but I’m hoping it will shrink in the dryer. And hello wear-with-everything-distressed shorts!
Old Navy now offers petite sizing in many of their items, but for the dresses with adjustable straps, I don’t require the shorter length. Pretend I’m wearing a strapless bra.
This is one of those dresses you buy in multiple colors and wear all Summer long…especially if you’re not a fan of shorts. It really couldn’t be more comfortable, and the shape and racerback make it super flattering.
When I posted this dress to InstaGram, many of you didn’t care for the pink sash…fortunately, it’s just as cute without it! This was my first choice maxi when shopping for the cruise, but since it doesn’t come in petite, I went with this one(worn here).
I like the idea of a tshirt tank dress, but this belly and bootie need a sturdier material, or a flared shape. I think you need to be extra leggy to pull off this length, too. I much prefer this dress on those of us with a pear shape.
I really wanted to love this tank dress, especially since it’s on sale…but the extra ruching added bulk instead of disguising it (unlike like this dress I wore here), and the top was too large for my A-cups. I think it would be darling on those of you with larger chests and slimmer hips.
You’ve seen a shot of this dress in my last Sugarplum Style post…I wore it on the cruise and can’t wait to show you soon. It’s pretty much the most perfect dress that ever was…stripes, floral, color, and pockets. #Idie
So what are your favorites from this installment of HSP Dressing Room Diaries? See anything you want to try for yourself? And don’t worry, Mr. SP, I don’t buy all the clothes, I just enjoy sharing them!
I love seeing your husband in the background, too:) It's so easy to see how he feels about you, even in these photos:) I think you would look good in just about anything. I esp. liked the striped skirt on you. Have a great day!
I need that black and white striped skirt! I have the jersey tank dress from Old Navy in multiple colors and love it. It's super comfy and looks great on its own and as a swim cover up! And, I know you already know this, but your hubby is a doll 🙂
Always adorable! You can pull off just about anything! Mr. Sugarplum is a riot! I'm sure he makes shopping a little more fun and interesting. I love the green palm leaf romper and the striped/floral dress!
Your husband is a total hoot. 🙂 I just got that ON Romper for our upcoming Disney vacation! I wore it last weekend with a cover up and realized how bad of an idea that was when I needed to use the bathroom! LOL! But, it was still a super cute outfit, so I wore it the rest of the day. Your hair looks so good (in an effortless way, too!) in these photos!
Soooooooooooooooo good! It's all so good! That first dress looks amazing, and I love that pleione tank. A different pattern is already on it's way to me! And those Old Navy dresses look great on you too!!!!!!
Mr SP is my favorite! 🙂 I've never taken my husband in the dressing room with me! Crazy, right? You look great in all of the outfits. I really love the romper!
Love your style and how you share and show us all these options. It's helped me expand my fashion thinking and not to mention a great place to shop for size 5 shoes that I can't find in any store. You couldn't get cuter! Thanks for sharing and helping us style ourselves and our homes.
I luv them all! I have to say my fav's and what I would wear if they came in my size are the gauzy shirt and the black on top pink on bottom tribal print dress.
Happy, happy Friday! It was a flurried week of work, kids, school, unpacking, laundry…and now we’re packing up again to leave for our Alaskan cruise tomorrow! #eeek #pinchme No question it’s a crazy season for us, but I love every second of it. I’d travel for a living if I could find a way!
The only downside is leaving the kids again…but our next trip is right around the corner, and it’s a family affair. Like I said, I hope you like packing and travel recap posts…because we’ve got a lot in the coming weeks!
Today I’m excited to share a new series with you…Dressing Room Diaries. You guys seem to like the occasional dressing room snaps of cute finds I post on InstaGram using #HSPDressingRoomDiaries, so I thought it’d be fun to expand it for the blog.
The shots aren’t good, the lighting is bad, my hair is usually past it’s expiration, and many of the items aren’t a good fit for me…but it’s real life, real girl, real clothes…and hopefully helpful for you to see them this way, instead of perfectly styled on a model.
For this mall trip, I drug Mr. SP with me for company and laughs. It was Mother’s Day weekend, so he had to do what I wanted anyway. This is the romper I told you about last week…it feels so good, and is a flattering length for those of us over 25. It’s darling with flat sandals, or dolled up with heels.
This dress was a little outside my comfort zone, but the Mr. insisted I get it. Turns out he was right because it was perfect for New York last weekend (see it here)…I wore it with both flat sandals and cage heels. The fabric is thick and stretchy to hold you in, and the racer top super flattering. The slightly longer length keeps it sexy-chic instead of sexy-skank. If you’re busty though, I’d consider this one to avoid a wardrobe malfunction.
I adored this dress, but sadly it’s not available in petite sizing, and I think hemming it would hijack the pattern. For your reference, I’m 5’4″, and wearing heels in this pic.
The colors, pattern, and necklace-halter sold me on this one, and I was thrilled to find it in petite online. It’s coming on the cruise with me, so I’ll share pics soon.
Stripes, fit and flare, AND pockets?! Done. I have a long torso, so the petite sizing was too short-waisted for me…this regular size was a good office-appropriate length, too. (See it styled here.)
This is one of those dresses that fits well on most every body type…the modest cut makes it office/church appropriate, but it’s also flirty enough to not look school-marmy.
I really wanted to like this one, but it was just too much fabric for my frame. I think it would be darling if you’re taller, with broad shoulders and a nice rack. #canIsaythat? But popping the collar is a must!
No question the statement necklace(now only $11!) I happened to be wearing makes this dress(minus the shoes), but it’s a great staple piece at a fantastic price (it’s even lined). The styling options for a white dress in this silhouette are endless! (See one here.)
Can you even believe this dress is under $30 (plus an additional 25% off right now!)? My usual size is a little tight across the shoulders, but I drowned in the next size up.
I was sad to walk away from this fun jumpsuit, but it was too snug around my “athletic” calves and butt, and the next size up was too big in the chest. But it will be too cute for words for some of you.
Super cute cover-up. Yes I’m wearing shoes with it…I refuse to take them off in most dressing rooms. I’d probably size up one in this for a flowier fit over your swimsuit.
So what do you think of this new Dressing Room Diaries series? Is it helpful to see the pieces in ‘real life’? And for the record, I don’t buy everything…I just enjoy sharing with you.
We fly out early tomorrow for Alaska, and I’ll be sharing the adventure on InstaGram, so follow along if you’d like. First stop…Seattle! What should we see and eat in our short 24-hours there?!
And finally, I can’t thank you enough for your support in this crazy Redbook Real Women Style Awards. I know it’s annoying to keep hearing about it, and a total pain to click over…but if you enjoy, and are inspired by, my style posts, I’d reeeeealllly appreciate your vote.
Today is the very last day, and every vote counts. It’s gotten a little crazy with some of the girls accusing each other of cheating, but if each one of you voted once, we’d seal this up and none of that would even matter! #letsdothis Happy long weekend, lovebugs!
Love Mr. SP in the background! How much would it feel like water boarding ti him to have him in all the Dressing Room Diaries? That jumper and that maxi that comes in petite, oh and those striped shorts, very cute! Is the maxi tight in The chest though? Do they not have petite in stores?
He's always a good time, so I'd love if he came with me. He might not agree. 😉 The maxi is not tight through the chest, it's gathered a bit bc of the halter neckline, so there's extra fabric to fill out if you need it. My Nordstroms don't have many petites in store, so I always order from home. Usually I order multiple sizes bc I'm not always sure with petite sizing…then return the ones that don't work out. xo
As far as Seattle goes, definitely go down to Pike Place Market while you're there. Such a tourist trap, but it's right on the water and a fun place to comb through (and take pictures). Get a Lobster Roll from Pike Place Chowder while you're there and go to Beecher's Handmade Cheese for another snack. Both places are TO DIE FOR GOOD. You probably won't have time to take the ferry to Bainbridge Island, but if you do for some reason, it's a pretty ride on a nice day and Bainbridge itself is really cute. And then for dinner, I recommend either Westward & Little Gull (right on a marina and great sunset views) OR The Walrus and the Carpenter (if you like oysters as much as I do). Can't go wrong either way, but Westward & Little Gull is probably a better date type spot. We just had drinks there, but it was super cute. The food at The Walrus and the Carpenter was arguably the best we had on our entire 10-day tour of the Pacific Northwest. So there's that. Have a fabulous time!
I miss the home/diy/decorating, seems like everyone's moving toward fashion. Cute outfits though. Alaska is beautiful from the air – try a helicopter or float plane!
Thanks for the tip, TC! I've always mixed it up…a little bit of everything. Yesterday was a home update if you need a fix. 🙂 I love fashion as much as decor, and truthfully, there's no way to crank out home projects every single day…they are time extensive, and I usually need to save up for them! xo
Going to order the white gap dress–I love that you said it would be great for someone with broad shoulders and large bust (check and check). Your husband is a good sport. I enjoyed the diaries and would like to see it again!
I love seeing the Dressing Room Diaries! I have to admit though, I am super jealous of your tiny frame, and small hips/flat stomach! Everything looks great on you!!
Hi Cassie! Love the Dressing Room Diaries! Fun! What size of the old navy jumpsuit are you wearing? I ordered a petite small and wore last weekend. The fit is much looser and sort of flowy. I wonder If mine actually too large. Cute, nonetheless.
I think I was wearing an XS…tight in the butt and calves, but a little too blousy in the chest. I thought about ordering a petite small, but ON petite is usually a little short-limbed for me. I think you'd rather err on the side of flowy than tight with those. If you got compliments, then chances are it's great!! xo
Fun to see some shots from the dressing rooms and pretty dresses that we don't typically get to wear in Seattle. #toocasualandcold Seattle … of course, stop in at the Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack flagship stores. Also, I second the reco for Westward. Miir's brand new flagship store/coffee/pub is just down the street from Westward. It's a very sleek spot and all the rage in our neighborhood.
Love this new series and a cameo by Mr SP is always adorable!! I found some things I want to check out for my upcoming trip to Aruba. You're like my personal shopper except everything looks better on you! Have fun in Seattle and Alaska! Lucky lady!! My mom is doing the exact same cruise in June.
omg your husbands face in the second photo!! priceless 🙂 off to check out that romper… it looks nursing friendly? so im sold. xo jillian – cornflake dreams
Love the dressing room diaries so fun. Seattle is my fave city you must eat at a Tom Douglas restaurant, mother last time I was at the Dahlia Lounge they had a tuna appetizer that I still dream about😀. Have a great cruise
Love this! And you crack me up…sexy-skank is going into my dictionary! Have a super fun time alone with the hubby. Can't wait to hear all about it and follow along on IG.
Hi Cassie, The dressing room posts are great. More please! While in Seattle, breakfast at Portage Bay Cafe and ice cream at Mollie Moon's are must-dos!
Voted again! You're just the cutest. I'm in love with those J Crew shorts and pink shirt on you. Perfect! Love this new series, and I hope you have so much fun on your cruise!
This is a super fun post! And thanks for the sale alert on the statement necklace…I've been holding off, but $11 is frugal enough for me. 🙂 Have THE BEST time on your cruise! Seattle is beautiful, and wherever you go – it'll be great!
Mr. SP is so hilarious….I just love seeing how much fun you guys have together! Love this series! Also, just voted again…I really think you deserve to win!! -Jenny from VA
Love this series! And Mr SP is such a good guy to come along with you. Thanks for being real. Have a great trip! Can't wait to hear about it and see your pics!
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, this series! So original and fun. Your hubby is adorable and such a good sport! Enjoy your cruise. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. We've never done a cruise because we don't think we are "cruise" people, so can't wait to hear your take!
You certainly wear clothes well. I am 5'4" also, am average size, but my waist is a little thick. If I try on 10 things, I'm lucky to walk away with one! I enjoyed this post. Hope you are having a wonderful time cruisin'.
This such a great idea! I love seeing clothes on real people and detest the catalogs that just show pics of the clothes on no one! Thanks for the endless ideas.
Loving this series! I like how you are honest with yourself about what works on your body and what doesn't. I'm learning to do that more and more so I'll quit wasting money on what I WANT to work.
I need to get some plum booties! Have fun on your trip!
So many great finds, but I LOVE those PJs!!
I think Mr. SP was your dressing room photo bomber. Too funny!
Have a fun trip! It's so nice to get a break, however short. And, an early Happy Birthday wish.🎂
Miss Cross-Paws is adorable. More doggy photo bombs, please!!
This is always my most favorite post to see. Your certainly make all the clothes look good. Now if I could just borrow your body 🙁 Wish more items were on sale though. Thanks and enjoy your get-away.
