Sugarplum Style, Vol. 21

Holy wow, can you believe Christmas is this week?? Our first big party in the new house went off without a hitch Friday night! It was such a treat to celebrate the season with so many of our favorite people! Saturday was the first of many family get-togethers, and Sunday we went to the Dallas Symphony…so it’s safe to say we are in full-blown Griswald Christmas frenzy over here!

I’m just so happy to have the kids home from school, and spend good quality time with them…this is my favorite week of the year! Except I’ll be spending today doing my final online shopping, since it’s pretty much the cut-off to guarantee things by Christmas Eve. #lastminutemuch

Now it’s time for another Sugarplum Style…snapshots of my everyday outfits, created by mixing-and-matching items in my closet. And thanks to some tropical travel, it’s a mixed-bag of seasons, too! But get ready, it’s been awhile since I’ve done one of these, so this round is super-sized!

Hands-down my best scarf purchase of the season…I just adore the navy, red and pink. Notice how it made a basic outfit of gray sweater and brown boots something special? It’s the perfect, affordable gift for any gal on your list…from mom to teachers.

Sweater | Scarf | Jeans | Boots

This cardi-wrap needs no explanation…I wear it with everything from pajamas to jeans. And there’s those booties again, I just can’t resist being comfortable! See this cardi in action in these Cozy Christmas looks.

Who says no white after Labor Day? Certainly not me! It’s been awhile since this {5 Ways}…I think it might be just about time for another!

Just so you know, I wear yoga pants just as frequently as ‘real clothes.’ But I do try to cute them up a bit with a striped shirt or colorful vest.

Embroidered Dog Hat | Favorite Workout Pants | Fleece Vest

I wore this outfit for one of our blogger panels on the Scott Brothers cruise…this dress is going to be a year-round classic for me. And the earrings, which are light as feathers, add so much fun to evening outfits!

Black & White Pleated Dress (Use code MONDAY for 50% off the dress!)

The sweater dress is still going strong and in heavy rotation…except now I have to add tights on some days.

Packing for the cruise, and of course my favorite racerback dresses came with me. They doubled for both day and night events, and pack like a dream.

The rest of my packing clearly showed a color theme. It was unintentional, but certainly made for more compact packing since the same shoes and clutch worked for most every outfit. See more of my packing tips here.

Oh look, another one of my racerback dresses…I wore this for the welcome luncheon on the ship.

Try not to notice the ocean whizzing by, six floors below me…I loved this outfit from one of our sessions and can’t wait to show you the full look. The skirt is so fun, and the necklace makes any outfit fabulous.

Mr. SP and I had a quick weekend getaway in Miami, so I channeled my inner sassy-Latina for one of our nights out. The shoulder cut of this dress is wildly flattering.

Dress | Leopard Heels | Clutch | Bracelet Cuff | Tassel Earrings

This would be embarrassing if I had any dignity…but again, the racerback dress didn’t let me down for a day of Miami site-seeing.

I was so excited for this sweater to arrive, but it runs so big I’m not sure I’ll be able to keep it. Fingers crossed I can exchange for a smaller size because the pink fair isle is too cute for words.

Hi Sugarplum | Sugarplum Style
I’m throwing this Dressing Room Diaries shot in because it was the most popular Instagram for the past month, so I thought those of you not on social media might want to see it, too. Behold, my winter weekend uniform!

Hi Sugarplum | Sugarplum Style

I hope these posts inspire you to create new combinations from your closet! The key isn’t to have more clothes, but to mix up what you do have in new and different ways. Except these leggings and this scarf, you need those. #trustme #enabler

You can catch up with past installments of Sugarplum Style here, or follow my everyday-style outfits on InstaGram. Make sure you’re following my Facebook page, too…that’s where I post deals, steals, sales and goodies! Happy Christmas Week, lovebugs!

Everything is cute! I had to return the beautiful pink, red and navy scarf. 🙁 It was so huge on me I just could see myself getting much use out of it. Maybe I was wearing it wrong because it doesn't swallow you up. Anyways- cute cute! Merry Christmas!!

Love it all!! Bummer that the navy and fuchsia scarf is no longer available. My gray booties finally arrived late last week. I wore them shopping on Saturday…only for a couple of hours. However, the comfort was not what I expected:(. Also just couldn't get my jeans to look right with them. But, I will try again. I have the Fair Isle sweater from Loft. I plan to wear it over the holidays. I am happy it runs big as I have added on a little fluff in the past year. That will be coming back off after the holidays!

  4. I ordered the scarf as well and was surprised by how thick it was. I live in Minnesota so I wear scarves daily – just couldn't figure this one out! What is your secret for tying it – are you folding it in half??

    Posted 12.21.15 Reply
    • I fold it in half or twist the front that's around my face so it's not so thick. I do wish it was a bit longer, but I love the colors so much I wear it anyway! 🙂

I love your style, but can you please help me out with some work appropriate outfits? What do you wear to work??!!

    • My office is fairly casual, so I can do dressed up denim any day..but in the warmer months I wear mostly skirts and dresses (and I show those outfits here, check my Style tab). In the winter, I add tights or wear black slacks most everyday! I've started working in more work-wear here (punny), and even have a {Work to Weekend} series!

  6. I'm with Darcy…I'm struggling with this great scarf too. It's not just that it is thick but doesn't seem quite as long. Maybe I just have a thick neck..lol. I tucked the ends back through this last time I wore it which was better but I would definitely be interested in how you have it tied in the first picture! 🙂

    • I do wish the scarf were a bit thinner and longer, but I'm willing to overlook that because of the gorgeous colors! I typically just loop it around once, not really long enough to tie. The Sugarplum Style pics aren't always a true representation of how I tied or wore a scarf since I have to tweak it in order to show up in the picture without covering up everything else. 🙂 xo

  8. Super list of packable capsule wardrobe. Quick question about the leggings How do the blackout leggings differ from the other Hue leggings Schaeffer of PTMT recommends? Have a Merry Christmas!

    Posted 12.21.15 Reply
    • Thank you! The other Hue leggings are a lot longer, and not quite as thick and dark as these. Hope that helps!
