Top Ten | May

Happy Monday, friends! Today marks the last full day of our trip, and we’re spending it exploring the Amalfi Coast. It is an absolute dream, and I pinch myself a dozen times a day…but this mama is ready to see her babies!! We start our long journey home tomorrow, but you can bet we’ll soak up every second, view, and gelato cone while we can today!

I don’t know about you, but May was a whirlwind, don’t you think?! Two trips and the end of school will do that I guess. I’m not to mad about it though, because June means the kids are home, and Summer is here! I’m sure it will take me a few weeks to find a new rhythm, between spending time with them, working, and keeping up with the blog.

Some weeks days it seems I’m doing nothing but chasing a To Do List, or playing catch-up, so it’s nice to take a moment each month and look back at the projects and content I managed to create. So just in case you spent too much time in that weird dead spot at Target, here’s the top posts from May.

Hi Sugarplum | top ten may
I spent two days on a gorgeous Southern plantation as part of the Bloom Workshop,
We drew up the plans for the next phase of the Laundry Room Makeover,
and the Mudroom should get started sometime this month. #fingerscrossed
I somehow swung an invite to a special dinner hosted by Kendall Jackson wines
and Williams Sonoma…and prepared by none other than a Top Chef winner!

My everyday beauty and makeup routine is simple, but even more so when I travel.
We chatted about all things Mediterranean Cruises, and y’all had some amazing tips
that have come in so handy for our trip!
My gorgeous mom, Little Miss and I went on our annual Mother’s Day Tea.

Dorothy’s ruby slippers have nothing on these darling yellow espadrilles.
I fell for them so hard I styled them Three Ways.

Last month also had another round of Sugarplum Style, and everyone’s favorite, Dressing Room Diaries. Both of which have nifty little graphics in the sidebar, so you can catch up on them anytime. I also threw in a quick Five Under $50 and Ramblings, featuring fun new things I’ve got my eye on.

(Sidenote: I also updated my Sugarplum Picks to reflect what I’m loving and wearing these days. You can check it out anytime using the shopping bag graphic in the sidebar.)

June is sure to be another fun one, with Trip Reports, new home projects, and Summer style inspiration! Thank you so much for stopping by when you do…your support and comments mean the world to me!

  8. I'm wearing my new green racerback dress AND blush/taupe tote today too! These dresses are seriously the best for travel – so light and easy to pack. Love the bag, too – I used the cognac/sky version practically every day last year and bought the blush/taupe for this summer (plus one for my mom).

{Top Ten} May

Hi friends, and happy Monday! We arrived back home last night, with an extra 10 pounds, and a memory card overflowing with stunning pictures and experiences I can’t wait to share. It’s surreal to think yesterday we were cruising the Sea of Alaska, and today I’m back in an office. #pitypartyofone

And no way it’s June 1st. How the heck does each month fly by faster than the last? It seems like just last week we were taking the obligatory first day of school pics, and now we’re four days away from having a high-schooler and fourth-grader! #gulp

Our May was jam-packed with travel, spring style, and house updates. In case you slept through Spring, here’s the {Top Ten} posts of the past month.
Hi Sugarplum | Top Ten May

The warmer the weather, the simpler my outfits seem to get…
so I love the added pattern and color a fun scarf can add. This little picture tutorial
shows how I tie and wear scarves year-round.

Hi Sugarplum | Top Ten May

The {One Room Challenge} was a hectic six weeks, but we came out the other side
with a fully decorated Master Bedroom. See the reveal here, and the full source list here.

We celebrated Mother’s Day with a Family Date Night.

The Kips Bay Showhouse is chock full of amazing inspiration.

Hi Sugarplum | Top Ten May

Packing posts have quickly become one of your favorites, so I shared what I packed and wore
on a recent girl’s weekend.

Volume 13 of Sugarplum Style showed some of my everyday outfits for Spring.

With the last day of school around the corner, I shared some simple, yet thoughtful,
gifts you can DIY for the teachers in your life.

Most everything in my closet will transition from Day to Night…including party dresses!

The final pieces of the Kitchen Reno arrived, and they are glorious.
Now to find time to shoot the full reveal!

And finally, we started Dressing Room Diaries…a new series showing you
real clothes on a real girl.

June is set to be a another doozy as we celebrate my sister’s wedding in Montana, start a new room makeover,  re-cap our trip to Alaska, and hopefully, share the finished Kitchen! I hope you’ll follow along! Happy Monday, lovebugs…I have a mountain of laundry and a bunch of catch-up in my future…I hope your day is more interesting.

  5. Love the Top 10! I thought I made a point to never miss one of your posts, but somehow I missed the packing for NYC one. Love your go to dress and how you pulled it together for both day or night. I just ordered one in black and hope that the fit is as flattering on me as it is you 🙂

Hi! I'm leaving in a couple of days for what seems to be the same Alaskan cruise that you went on (same excursions too) and would LOVE to see your packing list/suggestions since I am torn about what to bring! Any suggestions you have would be awesome!

    • Hi Anon! I'm so excited, and a bit jealous, of your trip! I'd love to go back tomorrow!! I'm planning a packing post, but I can't get it together before your trip..so sorry about that!! It's the last week of school, and I'm slammed at work from being gone, so my week is crazy. Just check the weather in each of the ports for an idea of the temps. I took lots of light layers, and just put them on and off as the day dictated. The only time I was cold was the morning of the Tracy Arm Fjord (but you're on the boat), and on top of the glacier for dog sledding. I was fine with a silk underwear shirt, long sleeve tee, fleece vest, and windbreaker-type jacket. Most days we were actually warm!! As for the ship, anything goes for 'at sea' days…and dinners are dressy for two nights, and 'date appropriate' for the other nights. Have so much fun!!!

I know I sound like a broken record in every Top Ten post, but I
really can not believe another month has flown by!? But here we are in June, at the year’s half-way point. Crazy! It’s been a fun and busy month around here, and in case
you took a really long nap (or maybe you’re just new to these parts), here’s a recap of my top posts for May.

Hi Sugarplum | Top Ten May

I don’t know why Susans got a bad wrap for being lazy, but I do know I love my easy
{DIY} Serving Tray with a nifty Lazy Susan on the bottom!
Consider this little white dress, at an affordable $50, my Summer staple. I especially love it in this White & Hot Pink {Outfit Inspiration}.

A full {Trip Report} Vieques on the third and final leg of our Puerto Rican adventure!
A pretty and fancy Tea Party fit for three generations of Sugarplums.

Hi Sugarplum | Top Ten May

This month marked 1000 posts, and 4 years of blogging. That is a lot of blabbing to strangers on the internets.
Backyard season kicked off with a little Citrus-inspired party, and a yummy Orange Creamscicle Float!

Hi Sugarplum | Top Ten May

We got crafty with a box and some pom poms.
The little people I birthed proved they can still clean-up, and thanks to some smart shopping, it wasn’t entirely unpleasant!

This month also featured several fashion moodboards, but these were the most popular

It brings back special memories of times with my mom. My mom would take my sister, my niece, and me to The Palace Hotel in San Francisco for their fancy Christmas tea. It was our annual tradition. Happy June Cassie!

Somehow, without me even realizing it, May has completely whizzed by! How is tomorrow already June 1st?! I hope the Summer doesn’t fly by as quickly as the first half of the year…I want to savor every last second of it! I can’t wait to show you some exciting projects in June, but in case you dozed off, here’s a recap of the Top Ten posts for May.

Hi Sugarplum | Top 10 May

I can’t believe it’s been a month since we came home from Italy. I’m ready to go back! I last shared the charming island of Burano, and hopefully soon I’ll get my act together and finish the {Trip Reports} for Florence, Cinque Terre and Milan! You won’t want to miss them.
I dressed up a plain mason jar with an Etched Monogram. It was the perfect Teacher Appreciation gift.
Summer means houseguests…here’s how I prepare.

Hi Sugarplum | Top 10 May

I’m obsessed with all the uses for these caddies…including as a Teacher’s Essentials Gift!
I paired Spots & Stripes, and showed you real-life behind the camera of my {Outfit Inspiration} posts.

Hi Sugarplum | Top 10 May

We’re serious about our coffee, and keeping it stylishly organized.
I DIYed a monogrammed doormat and revived the sad door hardware for a quickie Front Porch Makeover.
Hi Sugarplum | Top 10 May

We’re turning our organization to the garage, starting with the Spraypaint.
Things got a little saucy with Hot Pink & Leopard.

Hi Sugarplum | Pink Walls & Red Ceiling Dining Room

And my favorite project of the month, is hands-down the pink walls and red ceiling in the Dining Room!

What was your favorite project? Are you tackling any new ones? Happy weekend, lovebugs!
