Resort Ready - Hi Sugarplum!

Happy Wednesday, friends, and welcome back to a new year of Hi Sugarplum! I hope you enjoyed the Best of 2024 posts, and are as excited as I am for all the fun ahead! Can you believe this year I’ll mark 15 years of HSP?! I love it as much today as I did in 2010 when I wrote my very first post… if not more!

We’re only two days in to a major cold snap, and I’m already over winter and dreaming of warmer days! Seriously, I’ll take 100 degrees over freezing any day! What about you? Hats off to those of you living up north who endure this weather for months at a time, you are heartier than me!

So let’s dream of warmer weather together, shall we?! And from the number of messages I got last week, many of you are planning your own warm-weather getaways soon… and fortunately there’s no shortage of cute and colorful resort styles! Nordstrom remains my go-to spot for year-round closet staples and fun finds, and many of my faves are back-in-stock for Resort Season!

La Blanca is one of my favorite swim brands… not only are their prints so cute, but they are so well-made with great coverage and support. I have several bikinis and one-pieces, and have reached for them for years.

I love these gauzy pants as a chic coverup, and have them in both pink and white. I size up to a small so I can wash and dry them (they shrink up a bit). But I also prefer a loose fit over swimwear. This suit has a matching short HERE, as well.

I keep my style pretty casual on beach vacations, but flirty and flowy dresses are a must! This one is an easy and flattering fit, with fun pleated details. It comes in several gorgeous colors, and has adjustable straps for a better fit. You could definitely dress it up with heels and jewelry for weddings and events! (I loved this one, too!)

Sea Level is another great swim brand… they have great classic styles, with full support and coverage. I’ve had this fun ruffled one-piece for years!

This jersey knit maxi is another vacation must… it’s so soft and packable, and I love its versatility! I wear it over swimsuits, with flat sandals, and even dressed up for a night out. It comes in several colors and it’s a great sale price right now!

When it comes to cover-ups, I gravitate to gauzy fabrics and oversized fits. This one has a deep v and classic shirt style that is so chic and effortless.

Beach bag must-haves for me always include a good book, wide brim hat, and Supergoop! Mr. SP and I both love the Glow Oil for all-over SPF that leaves skin super hydrated, and the Glow Stick is great for noses, lips, and other quick spots.

These smaller sizes are great for travel if you’re a carry-on girl like me!

Sugarplum Travel Tip: We use the larger size of Glow Oil at home, and keep a couple of the travel size containers on-hand for trips… they easily refill!

I’ve had this hooded cover-up for a few years (it’s been to French Polynesia and back!), and it remains a favorite. I love the longer length and easy fit for throwing over all my swimsuits.

I love gauzy cottons for wearing with pants and shorts, tied over a dress, and even over swimsuits. This shirt comes on every single trip!

And if you’re the type to work out on vacation (I’m about 50-50), Nordstrom also has an incredible selection of workout wear from all our favorite brands like Beyond Yoga, Vuori, and Zella!

And of course my travel uniform… the Spanx wide leg pants! Even the flight attendants stop me to ask about the chic combo!

I also just bid farewell to my Calpak roller bag… after countless miles, one of the wheels finally gave out! After researching every carry-on bag on the market, and comparing dimensions, I decided on this Beis Carry-On Roller bag… and it is a 10/10!

The largest available capacity is allowed for a carry-on bag, it’s incredible durability, with lots of extra bells and whistles that makes packing and carrying it a dream.

I’m still carrying my beloved Calpak Luca duffle though, as I’ve yet to find anything I love as much!
