Todos Santos, Baja Mexico //

Beyond the hustle and bustle of Cabo, with its stream of boujee resorts and vibrant bar scene, lies the hidden gem of Baja… Todos Santos. This tranquil town along the coast, about an hour from Cabo, has a laid-back atmosphere that just oozes Mexican charm.

No traffic lights and few paved roads, just a friendly, slow-paced town that feels like a world away. But don’t let the boho, undeveloped vibe of the town fool you! One of the highlights of Todos Santos is its thriving arts scene.

The town is dotted with galleries, studios, and chic shops, showcasing the talents of local artists. It’s also known for its organic farms, and farm-to-table restaurants, with everything from street tacos bursting with flavor to gourmet seafood dishes that rival any big city chef.

Getting to Todos Santos //

Most airlines fly to San José del Cabo airport, and from there it’s an easy one-hour drive. We rented a car from Cactus Car Rental, and it was as easy and seamless as renting in the states, and we were glad we had the car for exploring all of Todos Santos.

They picked us up at the airport in a really nice private shuttle, and drove us to their nearby facility. From there, it was a direct shot to Todos Santos on a nice, scenic freeway.

I left after a few days, so I arranged for a private transfer back to the airport… most any hotel or rental property can recommend a service. Never once did I feel uncomfortable about driving or walking around town!

The beaches of Todos Santos are awe-inspiring, with golden sand and large, crashing waves. Head to Playa Los Cerritos if you want to swim, but the rest are perfect for beach walks and lounging. We were there in early February, and we saw more whales than we did people!

And since it’s located on the Baja Peninsula, the weather was gloriously cool and dry, with lots of warm sunshine.

The vibe is casual and laidback, but with so many expats living in Todos, there is great style, too. I packed a mix of sundresses and palazzo pants, with a few light sweaters for chilly evenings.

We spent mornings on our patio catching up over coffee, followed by a quick walk to town for pastries or down to the beach for whale-watching. Afternoons were either by the pool or exploring the galleries and shops in town.

I met these beauties years ago on a work trip for Princess Cruises, and we bonded over our love of travel and the experiences that came with sailing the world together in the years that followed. Now we continue with trips on our own, celebrating each others’ wins and big life changes. Last year we went to Whidbey Island, you can see that dreamy trip HERE.

Where We Ate in Todos Santos //

Considering the dusty roads and lack of pretension, Todos Santos has a surprising food scene, with more incredible spots than we could fit in our short weekend!

Agricole // A bougie little grocery on the outskirts of town, we stopped for incredible wine, cheese, and pastries… essentials for a girls weekend!

5 Tacos & a Beer // A darling spot for incredible tacos and cocktails, set in a small outdoor patio… especially charming at night. It’s super casual, and even more affordable!

Jazamango // A farm-to-table restaurant with the actual farm just out back… this was my favorite meal. The menu has everything from wood-fired pizza to seafood to steaks, and every bite was delicious (as were the cocktails!). Go for dinner and enjoy cozying up under the twinkle lights.

Kahal at Racho Pescadero // One of the most beautiful restaurant settings I’ve ever seen, Kahal took our breath away! Go for sunset and prepare to be mesmerized by the oceanview setting, and charmed by the staff and food! Getting there is a bit of a challenge, as it’s at the end of a 1-mile, bumpy, unpaved and unmarked road, but completely worth it!

Cafe Las Tunas // In town, it was an easy walk from our rental, with a great selection of Mexican breakfast faves, pastries, and delicious coffee.

Oystera // Regardless if you like oysters, an afternoon spritz and fries on the outdoor garden patio of Oystera is a must! Incredibly gorgeous and chic, you’ll feel like you’ve transported to the Tuscan countryside!

Where We Stayed in Todos Santos //

There were five of us, so we rented two homes side-by-side, granting each of us our own bedroom, and lots of space to spread out. We stayed at Casa Torta (listing found HERE), in a bright and cheery 3-bedroom home that was fully-stocked, immaculately clean, and super comfortable.

The kitchen overlooked a large backyard with sitting area and small pool, where we could hear the sound of the ocean crashing. A private path leads straight to the beach, about a 10-minute walk, and town was a quick 5-minute walk in the opposite direction.

Our friends stayed at the equally charming Casa Suerte next door (that listing HERE), and I’d highly recommend both properties.

We had the perfect relaxing weekend, full of lots of laughs and great food, and I was reluctant to leave the enchanting town. This little Mexican oasis offers the perfect blend of relaxation, adventure, and culture, making it the ultimate destination for a peaceful girls’ getaway.

There’s something very undiscovered about Todos Santos, but it’s not likely to stay that way for long, and I felt lucky to experience it this way.
