Happy Wednesday, friends, and welcome back to a new year of Hi Sugarplum! I hope you enjoyed the Best of 2023 posts, and are as excited as I am for all the fun ahead! Can you believe this year I’ll mark 14 years of HSP?! I love it as much today as I did in 2010 when I wrote my very first post… if not more!
Mr. SP and I returned home Sunday from our Cabo getaway, and I’m feeling refreshed and ready for the big year ahead. It’s definitely going to be one of change for our family, so I’m doing my best to lean in to each day as it comes.
The rest and reconnection was much-needed, both as individuals and as a couple. It’s always challenging to keep our marriage at the top of the priority list, so I’m grateful we were able to unplug from life’s distractions and find my best friend again.
These trips aren’t always easy to make happen, but are always 100% worth it! We look at them like a crash course of marriage therapy, and like I always say…it’s certainly cheaper than divorce, ha!
And from the number of messages I got last week, many of you are planning your own warm-weather getaways soon… and fortunately there’s no shortage of cute and colorful resort styles out now. I hit the vacation jackpot at Nordstrom before we left, and I think you’ll love these styles, too.
We stayed at the beautiful Esperanza Resort in Cabo, and soaked up three gorgeous days of sunshine and cool breezes. I’ll share a full recap of our stay soon, but here are a few peeks to get you in the warm weather mood… along with some of the favorite styles I packed.
I love gauzy cottons for wearing alone and over swimsuits, and this combo was perfect for oceanside breakfast, shopping in the town, and by the pool. The pants are a touch sheer, so I stick with pairing them with swimsuits.
If it’s a warm-weather trip, you can bet Mr. SP is in nothing but Vuori and Fair Harbor… his favorite brands for quality and comfort… and both available at Nordstrom!
I’ve had this hooded coverup for a few years (it’s been to French Polynesia and back!), and it remains a favorite. I love the longer length and easy fit for throwing over all my swimsuits.
I grabbed this swimsuit for the trip, and it was my most-worn! The top is a classic French fit with adjustable straps and a tie back. The bottoms have a flattering ruched waistband, and perfect high waist for added tummy support.
The lightweight cover-up shorts were darling with both swimsuits and tanks. The fun print comes in a slew of styles, from tops to swimsuits.

Beach bag must-haves for me always include a good book, wide brim hat, and Supergoop! Mr. SP and I both love the Glow Oil for all-over SPF that leaves skin super hydrated, and the Glow Stick is great for noses, lips and other quick spots.
These smaller sizes are great for travel!
Sugarplum Travel Tip: We use the larger size of Glow Oil at home, and keep a couple of the travel size containers on-hand for trips… they easily refill!
These palm pants were an immediate YES for me… the print and colors are so cute, and the fit is an easy drape.

Pass the chips and guacamole… I’m ready to go back! Are you headed somewhere warm soon? Be sure to check out Nordstrom’s huge Vacation Shop for tons of inspo, and stayed tuned for lots more coming to the blog!
Pssst, here are a few more beach and packing posts you might enjoy, too!
