Vacation Essentials

Happy Monday, friends, and welcome back to a new week! Are you headed on Spring Break soon… and if so, did you choose sand or snow? We traded our traditional family Spring Break trip for a college tour this year, but Mr. SP and I did sneak away for a few days while Sloan was on her mission trip earlier this month!

It was the dreamiest spot (see a peek of it HERE and HERE), and I’ll share a full Trip Report on it soon!

There’s no question I travel light for beach trips, this time I surprised even myself! I found some of the most stylish pieces that are easily mixed and matched for a range of looks for everything from beach walks and poolside lounging to dinners on the beach and trips to the spa. Nordstrom made shopping so easy with their perfectly-curated Vacation Edit HERE, and thanks to their fast and free shipping, I was ready to go!

Beach trips are my absolute favorite to pack for, and the casual atmosphere makes it so simple. One thing that comes with me every time are these jean shorts! No question they’re an investment, but they are truly the best I’ve ever worn. After three years of owning them, my cost-per-wear is down to pennies!

They are the best relaxed fit and I wear them with swimsuits, tanks, tees, and even dressier tops.

Fit Tip: They are a relaxed fit, go with your usual denim size. I’m in a size 26.

Ruffle One Piece Swimsuit | Jean Shorts

You likely recognize this swimsuit… it’s a favorite that’s been with me on several trips! I shared my love for Sea Level swim HERE.

Fit Tip: I size up one in swimwear, I’m wearing a size 4.

Soft and gauzy cover-ups are my fave, especially when it’s extra hot and humid! This oversized hoodie-shirt cover-up is so cute, and the perfect length to fully cover the bum, but not so bulky you couldn’t wear it as a tunic with the jean shorts, too.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a size Small.

These gauzy pants are a fun cover-up option as well, and look just as cute with swimsuits as they do with tanks and tees. The swimsuit is another Sea Level favorite I shared HERE… it’s so chic and flattering!

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a size XS.

I also paired the gauzy pants with this cotton tank. It has such a soft and comfy fit, and it comes in a range of colors.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a size XS.

I gravitate more towards one-pieces these days, but this bikini was too cute too resist! I not only adore the floral print, but the style provides good coverage and support!

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a size 4 in both the top and bottom.

The striped set is on the pricier side, but I wore it as both a set and separates for so many occasions that it was worth the investment! The shorts are darling as a cover-up, or with a simple tank or tee.

Fit Tip: It runs really big, so definitely size down one! I’m wearing a size XXS shirt and size XS shorts.

I also wore the shirt by itself as a cover-up over swimsuits, and paired with, you guessed it… the jean shorts!

Fit Tip: Size down, I’m wearing a size XXS shirt and size XS shorts.

Another great gauzy find… this sundress is as soft and comfy as it is cute! It has adjustable straps and smocking in the back for an easy fit. I wore it with a sunhat for breakfast, and dressed up a bit for dinner. You could also throw it on over your swimsuit!

Fit Tip: It’s true to size, I’m wearing a a size XS.

Oh look… the darling striped set again! I also wore it as a lounge set around the room and down for breakfast. I had so many compliments on it!!

Oversized Button Down | Pull-On Shorts | Straw Hat

Oversized hats are not only a necessity for sun protection, but they also make every outfit look cuter! (Not to mention, disguise my crazy beach hair, ha!) This woven cutie is super lightweight with a comfortable band, plus it has an adjustable strap perfect for windier environments.

The greatest thing about most beach vacations is anything goes! As long as you have a swimsuit and SPF, the rest is bonus, right?! What essentials are always in your vacation suitcase? Better yet, what beach locations are on your travel agenda this year?!

Upcoming trip to Maui in April. I need to try on my suits again and pick up a great cover up. I do find I don’t need to pack much since we’re in suits most of the day. Only need real clothes in the evening and even that is pretty casual.
We’ll be heading back to Lahaina and Kaanapali resorts. While we enjoyed Wailea, Lahaina has our hearts. Plus we know all the best happy hours for cheap eats!
