Happy May Day, friends! Can you believe we’re almost halfway through the year, and summer is just around the corner!? We’re in the final countdown of school, and pretty soon, we’ll have two seniors in the family!
Sloan had her Prom over the weekend, and it was a shock to see how grown she and her beautiful friends looked all dolled up! We made a little before and after video HERE that’s fun to see. Shockingly, shopping for her prom dress was a breeze… she chose the first dress she tried on at Nordstrom!
It was sassy enough for her, and appropriate enough for me, plus it didn’t break the bank… so a win-win! (You can shop her dress HERE, and it’s 40% off!)Â
Today I’ve got a spot for your Travel Bucket List, and after this post, I think it will shoot to the top! As you know, we absolutely adore Mexico … the people, the culture, the food! Not to mention, the quick non-stop flights from Dallas and minimal time-change, Mexico is always an easy choice for us!
When it comes to shooting our GLxHSP Collections, we love to find places that not only reflect the style and energy of the pieces, but also inspire your wanderlust! So when searching for a cool new spot to shoot our Summer Collection (coming May 18!!), I of course turned to Mexico, and the dreamy town of San Miguel de Allende… and more specifically, the iconic Casa de Sierra Nevada!

Some properties are so special, they are worthy of a trip all their own, and Casa de Sierra Nevada is one of them! It’s a luxurious boutique hotel located in the heart of San Miguel de Allende, a colonial town in central Mexico that has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The hotel is known for its impeccable service, stunning architecture, and breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
The hotel is made up of a series of 16th to 18th-century colonial-style buildings, which have been beautifully restored and decorated with local art and antiques. The hotel’s 37 rooms and suites are spread across six separate buildings, each with its own unique character and style. Many of the rooms have private balconies or terraces that offer panoramic views of the town and the surrounding countryside.
Casa de Sierra Nevada is home to several acclaimed restaurants, a rooftop bar with incredible views of the sunset, an idyllic garden pool setting, and luxurious spa. It’s also steps away from the city’s best shops, restaurants, and the iconic Parroquia (a spectacular 17th-century gothic-style church, one of the most photographed in all of Mexico). I truly can’t imagine a better location, and I would return to San Miguel just to stay here again!

We were greeted in the courtyard reception with cool towels, a heaping bowl of guacamole, and the best margarita I’ve ever had! That’s reason alone to visit! Coffee, hot chocolate, and pastries are delivered to the room on demand each morning, followed by a huge breakfast offering in the restaurant.
We spent all of one day shooting our upcoming Summer Collection in and around the property, and on our free day, we split the time between wandering the maze of city streets and lounging poolside in their quiet courtyard.
Sugarplum Travel Tip: We flew non-stop to León airport, then arranged for private transfer via the hotel for the 75-minute drive to the property. San Miguel is like a quiet little bubble, and we wandered the town day and night and never once felt unsafe or uncomfortable. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone!
Sugarplum Travel Tip: The hotel is spread across several buildings, some several blocks away from the main structure. While the entire property is incredible, I’d recommend staying in the main building for easier access to the pool, rooftop bar, and the better restaurant.
I’m still dreaming of this margarita!!
San Miguel is both uber-chic and casual, so I packed sundresses, skirts, and gauzy pant sets. This cotton-linen blend set is a new favorite find, and fit the style of San Miguel perfectly!
The pull-on pants have an elastic waist and flattering wide leg, and are so fun paired with the matching shirt. Plus they’re easily styled as separates, as well.
Sugarplum Fit Tip: Both pieces are a relaxed fit, I’m in a size XS in both.

One thing that comes with me every time are these jean shorts! No question they’re an investment, but they are truly the best I’ve ever worn. After three years of owning them, my cost-per-wear is down to pennies!
They are the best relaxed fit and I wear them with swimsuits, tanks, tees, and even dressier tops.
Sugarplum Fit Tip: I’m wearing a size XS shirt and size 26 shorts. They are a relaxed fit, go with your usual denim size.

I love oversized cover-ups that easily allow me to go from pool to lunch, and this gauzy shirt is so chic! It’s a great longer length, with an open neckline and roll-tab sleeves. I also have this hooded version in white.
Sugarplum Fit Tip: I’m wearing a size Small cover-up.

In addition to its luxurious amenities, Casa de Sierra Nevada is also known for its commitment to sustainability and the local community. The hotel sources many of its ingredients and materials from local suppliers, and works to minimize its environmental impact through initiatives such as energy-efficient lighting, water conservation, and waste reduction.
Overall, Casa de Sierra Nevada is a true gem in the heart of San Miguel de Allende. Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway, a family vacation, or a destination for a special event, this hotel offers a truly unforgettable experience that combines luxury, beauty, and authenticity, and I’m so grateful we were able to experience it.
And don’t forget to mention SUGARPLUM when booking for a free three-course dinner!!
P.S. I’ve got a full Trip Report on the town of San Miguel de Allende soon, but this property was just too special to not get a feature all its own!

You summed it up with that Sandy, ha!! So proud of them! xo, C
How funny that I’ve now heard of this place twice in a few days! We attended parents weekend at our daughter’s boarding school and met parents who own a luxury real estate firm in the town. They’ve lived there for 27 years and love it! I have zero desire to visit Mexico but I may have to rethink it after seeing your pictures and our new friend’s recommendations!
Oh that’s fascinating!!!! I bet that couple has amazing recommendations! xo, c
