Dressing Room Diaries

Happy Friday, friends, and cheers to the weekend! It’s Prom Night here, and we’re hosting a big group of Sloan’s girlfriends and their parents for photos and snacks! I ordered a fun balloon backdrop to make things extra festive, and I’m so excited to see these beautiful girls all dolled up! We’re expecting major storms this afternoon and evening, but fingers crossed it’s not as bad as they say!

Today I’ve got an all new Dressing Room Diaries for you, and it’s chock full of the cutest new arrivals! This month I added a slew of new retailers, and fair warning…these finds are dangerously good (as evidenced by how many things I’m keeping for myself!)!

It’s a range of price points from a mix of retailers, and even some of my favorite small shops I know you’ll love! My job is to find the cutest things, at the best prices, and I think you’ll love these! (I know I did!!)

Fit Note: I’m 5’4″-ish, 125 pounds-ish, with a slight pear shape. My usual size is XS/2.

 

Dresses //

The dresses were all kinds of fabulous this month, so let’s kick things off with this feminine and flirty number! I’m crazy for the mix of pink, orange, and lilac, and the ruffled details are absolutely darling! Plus, the fit-and-flare shape and tiered skirt make it uber flattering. It’s lightweight and super soft, too.

Cotton gauze is one of my favorite fabrics to wear in Texas summers, and this month brought lots of options. Starting with this cotton dress, which feels like a cloud! Smocking at the top and adjustable tie straps give it a comfy fit, and the fully lined skirt is floaty and light. Of course I adore the bold pink, but other colors are available, too.

Y’all… when is the last time you shopped at Dillard’s? It used to be my and Mama Sugarplum’s go-to store, but somehow fell off my radar in recent years. Well let me tell you… Dillard’s is back, baby, and bringing all the fabulous styles! Starting with this super soft cotton dress in a gorgeous print. I love the button front and contrasting prints and ribbon belt, plus the lightweight princess sleeve. It’s on the pricier side, but I deem this one of those closest staples you’ll grab for everything from church to parties to lunches with friends.

And the wedges?! My absolute favorites for the season! I’ve owned this flattering style for years and was thrilled they released this new, nude shade to go with absolutely everything!

One of my all-time favorite GLxHSP styles is BACK, and in all-new colors! The sleeveless Decked Out Day Dress is the perfect wear-anywhere style, with an easy, flattering fit. I love the ruffle detail at the neck and bra-friendly style. It easily transitions between sneakers, sandals, and wedges, and is fully lined.

Just take all my money, Target, because I want every dress from this brand! Super soft cotton, with adjustable straps and the cutest mix of block prints! It looks so high-end, but at amazing Target prices!

Graduations and showers are calling, and these dresses would be great options. A dressier woven material, both are fully lined with feminine, ruffled details. The coral one has a comfy, wide elastic waist, and the floral a flattering wrap style (with snap closure).

Marea is a new brand that’s absolutely nailing the block prints, and this dress is no exception. It’s a thick cotton with a relaxed fit and full skirt. The colors and pattern are so pretty, and this dress is so easy and forgiving.

Statement Dresses //

I couldn’t add this dress to cart fast enough! I love a statement sleeve, and this one delivers! I love the mix of colors and the open back, and the taffeta-style material definitely dresses it up for all sorts of events.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a size 2 dress, and it’s a teeny bit tight across the hips, but the 4 was too big across the shoulders.

Another stunner, I’m crazy for the print and colors of this bold halter dress! The plunging back gives it extra sass and the cotton sateen feels very elevated. I’d wear it to everything from weddings to vacation… it’s so versatile!

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a size 2 dress, and it’s a teeny bit tight through the waistband, but I have a wide rib cage for my frame.

The statement dresses are on fire this month, am I right?! This gorgeous maxi has a fun abstract print of unexpected colors, with a sassy cut-out on the front, and plunging back. The pleats are beautifully made, and the skirt a longer length for tall girls (but an easy hem for shorter gals).

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a size Small dress, but could use my usual XS, so don’t size up.

Could this dress be any chicer!? A sturdy cotton poplin, the crisp fit and bold print look so high-end… you’d never guess it’s under $100! It has a straight fit with flared hem, and cute drop shoulder sleeve. I love the contrasting stripes on the belt and hem, too!

Channeling my inner Princess Kate with this one (doesn’t it remind you of her style?)! Shades of navy and blue, it’s made of a sturdy lace and lined to the knee. I love the shape of the sleeves with a longer skirt for a flattering, elongating look. And bonus… it’s bra-friendly! I shared this one before, but so excited to find it fully re-stocked!

I’m always a sucker for an embroidered top, and this one could not be cuter! Flutter sleeves, ruffled neckline, and a lightweight cotton, it’s so soft and easy-to-wear! But good luck choosing between the two colors!

I love a crisp poplin top, but some days you want to be soft and cozy… and it doesn’t get much better than cotton gauze! This soft cotton top has loose flutter sleeves, square neckline, and fuller a-line shape. It comes in a ton of colors and stripe options, too.

Pants & Skirts //

Someone book me a trip to St. Tropez!! Doesn’t this outfit look straight out of the French Riviera?! If only I was that chic! I’m cuckoo for the print on these wide leg linen pants! They aren’t lined, so they’re lightweight, but not sheer, with a side zip and flat front. They’re nice and long for the tall gals… I’m wearing them with a wedge, so would have to hem for flats.

The cropped shirt has a fun camp style with flap pockets and twist front. The cotton is very sturdy, giving it more of a jacket weight than shirt.

Fit Tip: I’m exactly between a size 2 and 4 on these pants, so if you’re fuller though the bottom, I’d size up one. The shirt is true to size, I’m in a size XS.

Pull-on skirts are my jam… they’re easy and cute, and feel more pulled together than shorts. Not to mention, uber flattering! This darling embroidered skirt has an elastic waist and drawstring, with cute tassel ties. It’s on the shorter side, so I’ll stick to flat sandals rather than wedges for this one.

I shared this lightweight cotton top in last week’s 10 Darling Spring Tops post HERE, and couldn’t wait to pair it with the matching skirt! Made of the same lightweight cotton, with the prettiest hand-printed block pattern, it’s darling paired as a set, or keep it simple with a basic tee or tank.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a size XS blouse, but the cuffs are a touch tight. Size XS skirt, but would consider sizing up for more room in the waist and a longer length.

Want to take a break from denim this season? Wide leg pants are where it’s at!! These linen-blend pants have an elastic waistband in the back for an easy and comfy fit, and a flattering wide leg. The bold purple is so on-trend and surprisingly versatile, but they also come in a range of other colors and neutrals.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a size XS in both tops and the pants, but would prefer a Small in the floral tank for a flowier fit.

Pull-on shorts that feel like a skirt… sign me up! I love shorts with a flowy material and wider leg so there’s not pulling across the thighs, bum, or through the stride. These are so soft, fully lined, and easily dress up or down.
