Holy three more days of school, batman! I don’t know who’s more excited…me or the kids!? I haven’t had a summer off since high school, but since my work hours have been cut to part-time, I’m ecstatic about the extra time with them. Now we just need to make it through finals week…with no internet at home! #thanksverizon
Thanks to Starbuck’s wifi, I’m sharing Volume 14 of Sugarplum Style today…snapshots of my everyday outfits, mixed-and-matched using items in my closet.
I posted this casual weekend get-up, and you guys went cuckoo for the flamingo scarf. Unfortunately, it sold out in 2.2 seconds. #exaggeration I linked a similar one for you below, and this pineapple one is darn cute, as is this dot one.
Maxi dress for the travel uniform win! I adore the print on this one(available in black too), and bonus for being on sale! Tip: Don’t put this one in the dryer, unless you prefer to wear it tea-length! I wash it on delicate, then stretch it out a bit before hanging to dry.
I told you this monogrammed striped bag would be on repeat all season…I love how it makes even the most basic outfit fun. Tip: Use code DADSDAY for 10% off your order!I’m carrying the Savannah Tote, the many compartments and zipper top make it a great everyday bag.
You may remember this dress from my {5 Ways} to Wear a Maxi Dress…so comfortable, yet polished. It was, of course, my travel uniform for the flight to Seattle.
A sweet reader (hi, Melisa!) emailed me the most amazing tips for the Alaska Cruise…one of which included grabbing flowers in Seattle for our stateroom. Can you even believe this bouquet was only $10?! Needless to say, I made a lot of friends embarking the ship with them!
We loved dressing up for some of the dinners on the ship, but days at sea were definitely more casual. (More details and packing tips coming soon! Or soonish, depending on life and wifi!) This was taken from our balcony on Deck 12…gorgeous water, right?!
I was tempted to bring all four of these shorts home with me, especially since they’re 40% off…but I exercised rare restraint. Can you guess which one I chose?
You’re probably sick to death of these dresses…but they truly are my go-tos, and never let me down…hence they come everywhere with me! I’ve got a fun Day to Night planned for the black one this week.
Mr. SP and I don’t get out for Date Night as often as we’d like, so we took advantage of the formal nights on the ship. He was a big fan of this maxi dress, and this dress had me at stripes and floral. I’ve got plans to show you more of both. Soonish. 😉
I hope these posts inspire
you to create new combinations from your closet! The key isn’t to have
more clothes, but to mix up what you do have in new and different ways.
You can catch up with past installments of Sugarplum Style here, or follow my everyday-style outfits on InstaGram. Make sure you’re following my Facebook page, too…that’s where I post deals, steals, sales and goodies! Happy hump day, lovebugs!

i would have gotten all four! but I seriously hope u got the floral – the stripes and geo pattern I have no idea – u luv all those patterns. I totally understand the rain thing! we've finally have had a couple days no rain and sunshining, yay! (Houston) but the flies and mosqitious are crazy! we have to pretty much run from and to the house and car!
ps. my Kendra scott arden bracelet is my most favorite go to! If I could justify the gold drusy I so wud since its 50% off! I wish the black was on sale I would be all over that!
Always love your Sugarplum style posts and pick up some great tips! Boo on Verizon and yayfor getting out of school! We're done here already which is crazy early for us. I'm going to tell my mom to buy some flowers in Seattle before their cruise. They'll be there a few days before and after the cruise.
You should pick up work as a stylist–seriously, you'd be great at it! Darn that flamingo scarf for selling out. Luckily, I snapped up that bead necklace a while back and it's still available (and on sale for under $12!!). Have a great week!
Cassie, you have THE BEST color combos in your outfits. You have provided so much outfit inspiration for me. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "The Busy Brunette" http://thebusybrunette.blogspot.com/
They had an ice bucket with wine waiting in our room, so I added the flowers to that! Just refreshed the water every few days and they lasted all week!
I just discovered your blog during the makeover challenge. I have enjoyed catching up on posts and getting to peek at your life and styles. I hope you post more Info about your Alaska trip soon. We leave for Alaska in 9 days and I am really curious…what do you wish you had brought? What did you bring too much of? What other cute outfits did you pack? I am trying to pack efficiently and not take too much. Was it cold? So many questions. Thanks!
Hi Anon! I'm so jealous about your trip..can I come with you? 🙂 I'm trying really hard to get posts together, but there are so many photos (not to mention life getting in the way!!) Check the weather at each of your stops…I found that to be really accurate. I took lots of layers…silk underwear, long sleeve tee, fleece vest, windbreaker jacket. On the coldest days, I wore all 4…then shed them as it warmed up. Some days were literally just tshirts! The only time it was cold (but not uncomfortably) was when we cruised Tracy Arm at 5am, and on top of the glacier. I wore my rain boots, and they were fine…although not really necessary! Some days i was in jeans and sandals…but it depends on if you're hiking or not. Hopefully this helps! If you have more direct questions, feel free to email me and I'll try to help! xo
Can I ask a random question? How do you (or someone else) cut your long bangs? I have a pretty yuck cowlick in the front and can't ever get my long bangs to cooperate (they never seem to lay right across my forehead but rather end up curving the other direction). Maybe yours are thicker and start further back on your head. Maybe they are cut differently?
I love random questions! I have a pretty gnarly cowlick too…here's what I do: When I'm blowdrying, I first dry them in the opposite direction, against the cowlick. Then I push them back to their normal side and dry with a paddle brush.
As for the cut…yes, my bangs are pretty far back on my head, you need the weight to keep them down. I trim them myself, too, by pulling them in the opposite direction, and cutting up instead of across. And always cut them while dry! Hope this makes sense, and helps!! xo
Hey girl!! so sorry for my delayed response…I didn't see your followup! Okay, I don't get the question though?!?! I angle the scissors up…so the tips are pointing to the ceiling. Does that answer it? If not, feel free to shoot me a direct email and we'll figure it out! 😉 xo
My kids get out of school Friday too! One more day of packing lunchs and drviing to school! I love that flamingo scarf. My daughter had a flip flop blow out one day and we pulled into a Payless to get her a pair and they have the cutest beach totes. I bought 3 and one was flamingos, love it.
I reasently start reading your blog, and i love it!!At last a blog with fashion for a woman my age (44)Today i meet an american woman(I live in Sweden)and it strucks me how well dressed you all are.l wear working clothes in my jobb, everybody the same, black and red,but now i feel that i need more color, thank you for charing your outfits!!!!
Ok…I'm guessing floral and yellow striped shorts. 🙂 Can't wait to see your full recap….I have always been anti cruise but your trip made me rethink that for sure!
You should start a side-business consulting with people on what they should pack on vacations. Seriously. You're a freaking rock-star.

That would be so fun…but I think I'd do more chatting than styling! 🙂 Don't you love that necklace…it jazzes everything up!
You look SO cute in all of these outfits! And what a great idea on grabbing flowers – I bet they were gorgeous for the whole cruise!
Thank you so much, Darcy! And yes…the flowers were still going strong when we left…I hated that I couldn't bring them with me!

I'd come over if we were neighbors…I work for wine! 😉 xo
WHat did you put the flowers in once you settled in your stateroom??
They had an ice bucket with wine waiting in our room, so I added the flowers to that! Just refreshed the water every few days and they lasted all week!

Once pulled to the opposite side, do you cut up in the direction of the opposite side or up in the direction of the correct side? Thanks so much!

You and me both, friend!!! I won't be hoping on a party ship to the Caribbean anytime soon, but I'd do this one again in a second!
