Top Ten | December & January

Finally, February! Am I the only one who thinks January drug on forever? I know the year is about to pick up speed though, so I’ve tried to savor the slower pace while it’s here. We’ve had some Spring-like days, so it’s hard to not wish it were March already! I know we’re all excited for Spring Break. Even though I have no idea what we’re doing yet!

Some weeks days it seems I’m doing nothing but chasing a To Do List, or playing catch-up, so it’s nice to take a moment each month and look back at the projects and content I managed to create. I never got around to recapping December, so here’s what’s been going on around here for the past two months.

I rounded up 8 Outfits for New Years Eve…and while that holiday has come and gone, the post might inspire you for some of your more festive events this year.

The Phase 2 Kitchen Remodel is in full swing, and I’m hoping to reveal the finished space later this month! Catch up on all the updates and progress in this post.

The most humbling post I write all year…my personal highlights and achievements. All made possible by your amazing support. #xoxo

We kicked the New Year off with a trip across the border, and fell head over heels in love with Maroma, Mexico! I recapped the trip in this post, then shared what I wore and all my packing tips in this post.

I started a new series answering all your FAQs, called You Ask, I Answer. The first one had everything from Mr. SP’s job and how I clean my white sneakers, to my best boot recommendations and the value of a pricey hair dryer.

I don’t follow any real ‘rules’ when it comes to fashion, but rather focus on what’s flattering and what makes me feel good. So while there aren’t any hard and fast rules when it comes to wearing ankle boots with skinny jeans, I shared my tips & tricks for the most flattering methods!

I geeked out a bit at the end of the year, and studied the blog analytics to see what you loved most, including the top products. I wasn’t surprised to see that your Reader Top Ten fave buys were pretty much the same as mine!

One of my simplest, and most-requested, dinners is this Mediterranean Chicken with Olives. My family wants it at least once a week, which is fine by me since it’s basically assembling a few ingredients. I’ve loved all the messaged from those of you who’ve now added it to your weekly routine, as well!

I mixed up our latest Date Night Style with a sassy jumpsuit. An outfit that doesn’t require I shave my legs?! Done!

Our house was all decked out for the Christmas holiday. Not a lot you can do with that now, unless you’re looking to get a jump on next year.

One of my most-asked questions is how I curl my hair! So I shared an updated step-by-step for how I get my tousled, beachy waves. You can see a live video tutorial on my Facebook here, and see how I style it for Day 2 and Day 3 in my Instagram profile here.

Moto jackets are often synonymous with evening, edgy looks, so styled it for both Day and Night to show just how versatile they can be!

Same is true for the new, modern blazers…they’re no longer just for the boardroom. I actually love it even more when styled for casual Friday, but you can see it two ways in my Work to Weekend post.

We finished off the year by looking back at the Best of Decor, Travel, Tips & Tricks, and Style.

We also had another round of Sugarplum Style, and everyone’s favorite, Dressing Room Diaries, featuring tons of new finds, and recent outfits (and Mama Sugarplum!). I also threw in a few Faves Under $50, featuring fun new things I’ve got my eye on.

(Sidenote: I also updated my Sugarplum Picks, and it now includes all my must-have wardrobe staples. You can check it out anytime using the shopping bag graphic in the sidebar.)

February is sure to be another fun one, with (hopefully) a Kitchen reveal, more style inspiration, and a makeup tutorial. Thank you so much for stopping by when you do…your support and comments mean the world to me! Happy almost-weekend, lovebugs!
