Happy Friday, friends, and cheers to the holiday weekend! Little Miss has a mini-break for the holiday, so we’re headed straight to the Sugar Shack once she’s done. Mr. College is coming home for the weekend, too, so I’m excited to celebrate Easter and Little Miss’s birthday together.
Now that she has her driver’s permit, she wants to drive literally everywhere we go… my nerves are already shot, ha! I just know she’s going to ask to drive to the lake, but I’m not sure I’m ready for freeway driving with her yet. Maybe we’ll leave that one for Dad!
It’s been a big week around here… Little Miss’s birthday, remembering my Dad on his birthday, and getting my first vaccine shot! But also (yep, there’s more), remember that big, freakish Texas winter storm six weeks ago? Well, it just keeps giving.
We finally got hot water restored after a month, only to discover yet another busted pipe. Which promptly flooded the kitchen. We cleaned it up quickly and ran huge fans for days. Our efforts weren’t enough though, and the floors swelled and buckled along most of the seams.
The insurance adjustor came this week and delivered the news… the entire downstairs floors need to be replaced. Which means we’ll have to move all our furniture in to storage and move out completely. Urrrggghhhh! Is it still 2020?!
I’ve had a few days to stew, and am focusing on the silver lining… house update! We actually chose the dark stained engineered wood six years ago (see our reno HERE), but they’ve been the bane of my existence ever since. They literally show every speck of dust, and don’t get me started on dog hair! So here’s my chance to go with a lighter, more forgiving color, right?!
And those baseboards and trim that are not-quite-white? They’ll be white now! See? Silver linings. I’ll be celebrating through my tears, ha!

I discovered this robe a few months ago, and it’s the perfect weight and softness to be cozy, but not too warm. And as you can tell, it’s self-tanning season! You can find my top products and tips for a natural self-tan at home HERE.
Jean shorts are pretty much my summer staple, and always a big request around here. I found two great pairs, depending on your comfort zone and inseam preference. This first pair is on the shorter side, but feel like you’ve owned them for ages. Super soft and relaxed, with a raw edge, but no holes or rips.

This pair has a relaxed girlfriend fit, darker rinse, and longer inseam. They’re super comfortable with a lot of stretch, and a great price point.
