The Sugar Shack | Game Room Design

Hello hello friends, and welcome back to a new week! My heart is positively bursting with all the love and support you showed the Gibson x Hi Sugarplum ‘Season of Cheer’ Collection last week. I practically floated around with a perma-grin all weekend.

I think of you every step of the design process, from fabric selection and fit, to colors and wearability, so to hear you love the pieces like we do is so incredibly gratifying. We literally talk about you the entire process… what will you be doing, where are you going, what will you want to wear? And more important, how will you feel in these pieces?!

I didn’t have the faith and confidence to dream big when I was a kid, but you have changed all that! The way you continue to show up for me makes me want to work hard to be the best resource for you that I can be!

Today we’re turning our focus back to design, specifically the Sugar Shack! We’ve spent the last year slowly making it a home, but one space remains completely empty… the upstairs game room. Correction, there’s a TV on the floor, and the mattresses off the bunk beds that someone drug in!

With winter on the way, I know we’ll be spending a lot more time indoors, so I’m turning my attention to this blank slate! My goal is to make it comfy, sturdy, and not break the bank! Here’s the design board we’re working with… and I think you may be surprised to discover we found it all at The Home Depot!

one.  Peel-And-Stick Wallpaper // two. Media Console Table
three. Modular Sectional Sofa // four. Nesting Accent Tables
five. Faux Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree // six. Wooden Surfboard
seven. Jute Throw Pillow // eight. Popcorn Bowl
nine. Set of Wine Glasses // ten. Wooden Serving Tray

Of course The Home Depot is a go-to spot for light fixtures, cabinet hardware, mirrors, and more (see the Sugar Shack bathrooms fully outfitted from The Home Depot HERE.), but I’ve sourced from their extensive Home Decor selection several times, as well. I’m always impressed with the quality and quick shipping, so no surprise my search for a sectional sofa led me there!

If you have teens, then you know they’re all about wallowing… so the bigger and comfier the sofa, the better! Once I found this one, I knew we had the foundation of the space. It’s nice and deep, and I love that the pieces are easily rearranged for different layouts. Plus, the color is fun and easily hides wear-and tear!

I think this room might finally be the time I try peel-and-stick wallpaper! It has a flat wall with no windows or a door, so I’m going to attempt a feature wall with this one. I love the colors and wavy print, both perfect for being on the water. The surfboard is a fun decor find, too… well played, The Home Depot!

And finally, most console tables are too small for the larger TVs, so we’ll place two side-by-side to better fill the space, and provide extra storage.

Here’s a layout of the space to give you an idea…

And the best part about this design (besides great prices at The Home Depot!), is it’s all available for immediate shipping! Holla! So we could have our comfy game room by Thanksgiving. Do you have a game/lounge space in your house? Any other pieces I should consider?

That sectional looks amazing and love the wallpaper!! I’d add some type of cabinet or storage for game storage if you all are into board games, puzzles, etc. Also, if you’re into doing puzzles amazon has cool puzzle trays so you could do a puzzle on the ottoman and move it out of the way for movie night.

Love all of the items!! I would love the wallpaper for my small bathroom. Have you ever used this type in a bathroom? I was just wondering if it would stay on in a moist environment?
