Behind The Scenes | Bringing the ‘Season of Cheer’ Collection to Life

Hey hey, friends! Thanks for the fun feedback on yesterday’s design post! I’m excited to get started on the Sugar Shack game room area, so I’ll probably start ordering things this week. I’m usually quick with design decisions, but I swear I drag my feet about sofas more than anything else!! Are you like that, too??

Furniture in general is such a big purchase, but something about sofas… a sectional no less (!!!)… really brings out my waffling. If there are any other oversized, comfy, and affordable options I should consider… that also happen to be in stock… please let me know, ha!

I’m still riding high from last week’s exciting launch of our ‘Season of Cheer’ Collection, and today I thought it would be fun to take you behind the scenes of our photoshoot for a peek at how we brought it all to life. Not to mention, the incredible cabin we rented as the backdrop.

The design process for ‘Season of Cheer‘ actually started in late Spring… before we even launched our ‘Summer of Fun‘ Collection! So while I was shooting and talking about Summer pieces, I was also dreaming up Holiday! (Something similar is happening now, as we’re already hard at work on Collection #11!)

In ‘normal’ times, it’s tricky enough to predict trends, and determine your needs several seasons out. Throw the challenges of the last 20 months in the mix, and it’s downright nerve-racking! Let’s just say we had twice as many Zoom meetings and a lot of pivots!

And in the end, because of the incredible hard work and tenacity of the Gibsonlook Team, we created exactly the Collection we envisioned…one that captured the feelings of joy and magic of the season. Quality pieces that will become closet staples for years to come, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we created!!

After months of designing and fitting the pieces, it’s time to bring it to life so we can share it with YOU!! The photoshoot is the finishing piece, and this dream team makes it happen. Valand Suzie arrived, and together with Mama Sugarplum we set out for our cabin in the woods…with a few fun road trip stops along the way.

We’ve stayed in a Tin Star Co. cabin before, so we knew it would be impressive, but none of us were quite expecting the views and architecture of ‘See Forever.’ Quite literally built in to the side of a hill, every room feels like living in a treehouse.

We arrived just in time for sunset, then we all got to work prepping for the next day. Val plans the shoot day, Suzie unpacks her kit, Mom preps the Collection…and I pick up dinner, ha!

The next two days were a blur of hairspray, tulle, high heels, and Beyonce (my go-to hype music!). There were countless touch-ups, lots of dancing, and an endless supply of snacking.

After two long, exhilarating, exhausting days…we wrapped our tenth Collection shoot together, and celebrated with taco soup and guacamole. Then it was time to cull through the 1000s of photos to share with you!

‘See Forever‘ was the perfect backdrop, and we loved our time in this gorgeous cabin. The people at TinStar Co are incredible hosts, and no detail is overlooked in their properties. My friendship with these insanely talented women is one of the greatest gifts to come from these Collections. It’s amazing we started as strangers I found on the internet, to truly the dearest of friends.

To bring a Collection to life requires a lot of moving parts, and I couldn’t have done it without the entire Gibsonlook Team and these gals. All my gratitude to everyone for their patience, talents, support, and unlimited enthusiasm for this project. I’m beyond proud of what we’ve created together!
