Happy Monday, friends, and welcome back to a new week! I’m happy to report we made it to Big Sur, and it was every bit as stunning as I’d imagined! We’re in Santa Cruz for a day before heading home tomorrow, just in time for volleyball. You know I’ll share all the scoop on our trip soon!
But today I’m thrilled to share our first finished spaces at the Sugar Shack… the living and dining room, and kitchen! To refresh your memory, we stumbled on this darling new build last summer and have had the absolute best time making it a home for our entire family. It’s been such a gift for everyone to have a place to escape and relax, and I’m beyond grateful for the opportunity to share it.
We’re tackling the bedrooms ourselves, (see those designs and sources HERE and HERE), but decided the main spaces needed to be done right the first time! I’ve never designed and furnished entire spaces at once, so we sought the help of A Well Dressed Home.
Not only do they have impeccable taste and make our visions for the house come to life, but they have the resources and skill set to make sure everything fits, arrives in one piece, and has cohesiveness throughout. They also have access to trade-only prices, ultimately saving us tons on quality pieces and fabrics that will last a lifetime! After all, lake house furniture takes a beating and I’m only doing this once!
So step on in to the Sugar Shack, and leave your flip-flops at the door!

The kitchen, living and dining is one big open space, with large windows that look out to the water. The house itself is on Cedar Creek Lake, in a tiny, one stoplight town… and it’s quickly become our happiest place. Nothing brings me more joy than seeing my kids and their friends, with sleepy eyes and bedhead hair, perched at the kitchen island waiting for waffles.
A Well Dressed Home designed and furnished the majority of these spaces, but I’ll link similar options where I can, along with the pieces we found. The furniture is all upholstered in comfortable, high-performance fabrics that can withstand spills and wet bottoms.
