Christmas Day Style | Morning to Night

Happy Friday, friends, and cheers to the weekend! Little Miss is on the mend and out of school at noon today… and Winter Break officially starts! I’m thrilled we have a few days to really crank up the holiday spirit before Christmas next week. We’ve got some fun things planned, but also a lot of movie-watching and game nights. I know we’re all ready for some downtime, and the chance to reconnect.

Today’s post is a fun one… what to wear on Christmas Day (or any day really, but it’s fun to package it up for Christmas)! I’ve got some fun ideas for your early mornings, cozy combos for lounging or visiting family, and even a dressed-up option if you do a fancy Christmas at your house. And you’re in luck, thanks to Nordstrom shipping, most every order placed by December 22 will arrive by Christmas Eve!

Christmas Morning //

My kids may not wake before dawn anymore, but we’re still up early… and all about the cozy! I love seeing them pad downstairs in Christmas pajamas, so of course I need a cute set, too! And since there’s always photos being taken, I use a cute beanie to cover my crazy bedhead!

This JOY tee makes me so happy, and is cute for wearing out of the house, too. The pajamas are a soft, brushed flannel, with an adjustable elastic waist. I’ll probably be chilly Christmas morning, so I’ll add this cardigan and these socks (40% off!). This MERRY sweatshirt would be cute, too.

Fit Tip: I sized up in the tee and pjs, I’m wearing a small in both.

Christmas Day //

We usually have a leisurely morning, then get dressed and head to Mama Sugarplum’s for more Christmas fun around noon. It’s casual, but I still like to be festive and comfy. These sweaters are great options, and are darling beyond the Christmas season, too.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS sweater.

If red isn’t your color, grab this luxe sweater in a different hue… it comes in six! This fuzzy turtleneck option comes in even more colors, and is 40% off!

This sweater had me at pink and red… only my favorite color combo! But then it upped the cute factor by adding a velvet bow to the back!

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS

It’s super soft and stretchy, with the cutest festive touch to make it special.

Christmas Night //

For Christmas night, we head back home and host Mr. Sugarplum’s family for dinner and a few rounds of rowdy games. We keep it fairly casual, but I love this combo for a dressier look. In fact, it’s probably what I’ll wear to Christmas Eve church! The candlelight service is my favorite part of the day (followed by our annual screening of ‘A Family Stone’).

The velvet is buttery soft and so luxe in person, and I adore this gold and ivory jacquard skirt. If it’s too chilly where you are, just add tights! Both are available in additional colors.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing XS top and XS-petite skirt

I love the low back of this ballet top, but it’s still completely bra-friendly.

Of course there’s lots of food and hugs throughout the day, too. What will you be wearing Christmas Day? And what does your day look like? Ours has been the same every year since we moved back to Texas, and while it’s certainly a lot of running around, I wouldn’t change it one bit! It’s such a privilege to spend the day with all our family.

And if you’re still doing some last-minute shopping, Nordstrom is making it extra easy! Simply scan the gift sections, and look for the ones marked ‘Arrives by Christmas Eve‘! Happy weekend, lovebugs!

I’m impressed that you are able to visit your mom on Christmas day, then host your husband’s family for dinner later that day. What do you serve?

Ah yes, the hectic days are upon us. The kids finish school today at noon as well. This weekend we’re traveling to my dad’s side of the family 3.5 hours away (mini road trip) and back Sunday to bake some traditional French Canadian meat pies (Tourtière, google it, it’s extraordinary) and some other traditional recipes (meat ball ragout, sugar pies, and an assortment of cookies). Christmas eve is at my husband’s uncle who lives in the tiniest house and hosting his enormous family (my father in law has 8 brothers and sisters (all alive) which yielded 17 cousins with their own children between the ages of a few months to 20 years old). Christmas morning is just the four of us. The kids are still quite young (6 and 8) and Santa is delivering the gifts under the tree after they’ve gone to bed on Christmas eve so when they wake up at an ungodly hour (they’re usually by our bedroom door “whisper/yelling” hoping we’ll wake up by 5 am). Then we go down in our pjs and open up our gifts. Christmas dinner is at my mother in law’s and we return for lunch on boxing day as my husband’s brother does Christmas at his in laws Christmas day. After that it gets a lot easier and relaxy for us. I’m not officially off due to the nature of my job but I’ll be working from home from the 23rd to the 3rd so that’s already much better than heading out to the office. Merry Christmas to you and yours!

There couldn’t be a more perfect pair of PJ pants for you … I love the pink and red combo! We host my entire family for Christmas and it’s an all-day event of food, sports and gifts. It’s always loud and messy but I wouldn’t trade it for anything! Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful family!

Hi, I’m new here! I am ready to pull the trigger on the pink/red striped sweater but I’m on the fence between XS or Small. I’m 5’1″ 108 lbs, 58 years old. I see you have on the XS but I’m leaning toward Small. It just looks like the kind of thing I’ll reach for time and again and love. Comparing my height/weight to yours, should I go with small? I’m so happy it is still available in those colors.

I was wondering what some of the family games are that you guys play. I’ve looked around your site trying to find them, but couldn’t. Hoping my family might have some laughs over games this Christmas break!

We love Pie Face (the whipped cream game) and Chubby Bunny (the game with marshmallows)…they’re fun and easy for a crowd. We also play PIG, where you pass cards until you have 4 of a kind.
