Great Stays | Cielo Taos Bed & Breakfast

Welcome back to a new week! How was your weekend? Little Miss and I saw ‘Last Christmas,’ at a new theatre in town, then came home and put up a few more decorations throughout the house. We’re officially in the spirit!!

My plan was to keep the Fall Porch for Thanksgiving, but all the plants and pumpkins bit the dust in last week’s freeze! I guess that means full-blown Christmas everywhere now?! #darn

Today I’m excited to share one of the coolest properties we’ve ever stayed on our travels… Cielo Taos Bed & Breakfast. The term ‘bed & breakfast’ in my mind is usually associated with quaint Victorian houses with creaky floors and too-close quarters, but this place is pretty much the exact opposite! In fact, it looked almost too good to be true online, and I was skeptical booking it.

But as it turns out, it’s everything it shows to be, and more! A sprawling 11,000 square foot property on 30 private acres, Cielo Taos sits high on the Arroyo Hondo Mesa with sweeping views, fiery sunsets, and absolute peace and quiet.

The property has three huge suites (ours was 1200-sq feet!), with large lounging areas and fireplaces throughout. You’re greeted with a glass of wine and crackling fire, and the nicest staff who are incredibly knowledgeable about Taos town and all the surrounding area has to offer.

It’s the perfect home base for Taos Ski Valley, and Taos Village (with lots of great restaurants and shops) is a short 10-minute drive. We loved the property so much, we spent more time here than actually exploring the area though! We started our day with their huge homemade breakfast and extended coffee-time by the fire, and always made sure to be back by sunset.

Watching the sky turn fiery red, orange, and finally a dusky pink was my favorite part… followed by their big bonfire! And ohmygosh, the stars you see out there!! We saw several shooting stars, and even the Milky Way is clearly visible.

We befriended the owner, Cynthia… and her sweet pup, and loved hearing how she’s spent the last two years overhauling this place! She’s filled it with decor and art she’s collected from all over, and created a truly special spot. She envisions it as a retreat for families or bridal parties, which would be so fun!

All the art is for sale, too… I really wanted this beauty.

Everywhere in Taos is casual and cozy, and my outfits fluctuated between pajamas and leggings. This sherpa jacket was perfect for lounging around the house, and out-and-about. These fuzzy socks are so silky soft, and would make a great little gift or stocking stuffer.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing XS jacket and S pajama pants.

Oh yeah, did I mention Cielo Taos has a full-size indoor pool and solarium?! It’s crazy… huge suite, giant breakfasts, incredible property and views… and our room was under $150!! Surely these rates won’t last long?!

I wore this striped wrap with everything this trip… it’s thick and warm, and cute as a wrap or scarf. The tunic sweater is cozy and warm, and perfect length for leggings.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing XS sweater and size 2 leggings.

I kept it casual, but cozy for dinners in town… these leggings and tunic sweater on repeat! Swapping the boots for flats gave the combo a different look.

There is so much character in this charming and sprawling bed and breakfast, it was hard to leave! It was so cozy, I could sit by those fires in my pajamas all day! And for all my fellow cozy lovers, I’ve rounded up some fun gift ideas.

Your suite is bigger than my condo! Huge and beautiful, no wonder you barely left the property. Looking forward to your gift guides.

I know you love tacos so I was like “Oh wow, Cassie found a B&B that specializes in tacos….so cool!”…it wasn’t until I got halfway through the post that I realized my error…but it was so funny to me I had to share! It looks like a dreamy spot!

So happy to read that you enjoyed your time in Taos. That is my hometown and I am always so excited when I see others experiencing its beauty. Being able to “stargaze” and actually see the entire sky worth of stars and the magical sunsets NM has to offer are just a few of my favorite things about it. If you come back, I would definitely love to hear more about your explorations throughout town! xoxo
