Hi Sugarplum!

Christmas at Home | Our New Family Room

December 12, 2019

Today I’m so excited to welcome the holiday season at home, starting with our family room all decked out for Christmas! If you follow my Instagram Story, then you saw our main living area recently got a makeover! A Well Dressed Home did such a fabulous job on our Master Bathroom, we hired them to finish this room, as well.

We’ve lived in this house five years (can you believe it?!), and our family room is the one space that’s always stumped me! Not only are the dimensions tricky, but it’s both our main family lounge zone, and the focal center of our home! AWDH blew us away with the chic, yet comfortable and functional design, and I wasted no time decorating the new room for Christmas with stylish holiday decor from Crate and Barrel.

Cable Stockings | Reindeer Stocking Holders | Birch Logs | Vase | Berry Stems

These glass hurricanes are gorgeous, and so easy to change with the season. We added cranberries for winter, and the battery-operated candles look so realistic (but no wax!)!

This console hutch is a new addition, and creates the perfect segue from the foyer to the living areas. Plus it’s got tons of storage and texture.

We decorated the top with more simple finds from Crate and Barrel, many of which I’ll keep up through the winter. These ceramic houses are one of my favorite holiday decor additions this year. I’ve got them spread throughout the room, but they’d be adorable grouped together in a little village, too.

The bowl is great for year-round decor, and looks incredible empty or styled with a range of fillers.

Assorted mercury glass trees are grouped behind the sofa, and are so pretty when lit at night.

I love the cozy vibe of these sweater stockings, and the reindeer holders are so fun. These fair isle stockings are cute, too.

Crate & Barrel wrapping paper has always been one of my faves… the patterns are adorable and the paper is such good quality (no show through for peekers!).

From the day after Thanksgiving until Spring, the only candle burning in my house is balsam, and this Balsam & Cedar is incredible! Such a clean burn, and the scent spreads throughout the entire house!

This little nook was remodeled at the same time as the master bathroom (I’ll share more of the full room renovation soon), and I love the clean and simple design. The small touches of Christmas on the shelves make me so happy.

I’m so smitten with the iron reindeer, so I carried them in to the adjoining Breakfast Room for a festive table setting. Aren’t the brushstroke plates and linens too cute? I’m a sucker for holiday dishes!

I just ordered these super-chic frames to create a gallery wall in this room, too. I can’t wait for them to arrive!

I love our house every day, but especially this time of year! Stay tuned for the rest of the house soon! How’s your decorating coming along? And don’t worry, I’ll do a full reveal of this room after the holiday!

Crate and Barrel is one of my favorite stores to walk into during the Christmas season. Your new family room is lovely! The fireplace glows even more with the decorations you have selected. I enjoy Christmas home tours the most. It is so much fun to see how talented bloggers like you bring the season into their homes and inspire us with new ideas every year. In fact, my first glimpse into hisugarplum! was via a Christmas tour on another blog.

Thanks Sandy! It’s a gas fireplace with gas logs…they came with the house! We did replace the surrounding area with graphic tiles from Home Depot.

Your whole room is beautiful! I love your gorgeous colorful tree. I have a question about your hurricane candle holders? Are they two different sizes or do you have one propped up on something to give it more height?

    • Cassie says: December 12, 2019 at 2:01 pm

Thank you!! And yes, two different sizes for the hurricanes! Although one *is* on top of something on the coffee table, but still two sizes! xo, Cassie

Love the white planter with the berry and cypress stems! Do you mind telling me how many of each you used to fill out the vase? This isn’t my forte but maybe I could pull it off! Is there any other greenery or just those two? Thanks so much! Everything looks beautiful, homey and festive!

Thanks Susan! Planters are so easy…you just pop in some stems and fluff them a bit! We have 2 each of the cypress and berries.
