Ramblings

Hey hey hey!! It’s Monday already. This weekend flew by in a flash, but December weekends always do! It was so fun to see the snow so many of you got! All we had were freezing temperatures, but it gave me a chance to wear my new coat I scored on Black Friday!

Did you know that today is Green Monday? I’m not really sure where the green part comes from, but apparently it’s a sale day like none other…so I rounded up the best ones and have them featured throughout the post. I hope they help you finish up any leftover holiday shopping!

Today it’s time for a big brain dump of what’s been going on lately, and rambling through my head.

ONE // I was trying to show a friend a picture from my phone, and had to scroll through a million selfies to find it…which was fairly obnoxious embarrassing. So I started cleaning them up and deleting the randoms, and found several shots I forgot to share in Dressing Room Diaries posts.

This sweater I actually featured last week, but it also comes in this rich burgundy color (even though the pic looks brown), and is so pretty paired with caramel or cognac booties.

Mockneck Sweater | Distressed Jeans | Boots | Earrings (25% off!)

This tulle midi skirt would be fun for holiday parties, and has so many styling options! I’d pair it with a fitted turtleneck, or a tight tee and a statement necklace (like this look). You could even do a cami and moto jacket. It slips on with an elastic waist, and fully-lined.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS and it sits on my natural waist.

Turtleneck | Tulle Midi Skirt

This knit skirt has a fun asymmetrical ruffle and hemline, and is both work and party appropriate. It’s a thick knit with elastic back, and a lot of stretch.

Fit Tip: It runs a little big, I’m wearing an XS and doesn’t want to stay on my natural waist.

Turtleneck | Ruffle Skirt

I honestly never tire of fair isle, and loved the traditional cotton weave of this bright one. The colors are bright melon, gray and lavender, and the fit is a bit cropped.

Fit Tip: It’s true to size, I’m wearing an XS.

Fair Isle Sweater | Jeans | Black Booties

These classic pajamas are great year round, but especially comfy in the warmer months since they are a lightweight, crisp cotton. I love the navy piping and drawstring waist for a good fit.

Fit Tip: They run a little big, but I suspect they’ll shrink a bit in washing since they’re cotton. I’m wearing an XS.

Classic Pajamas

Another classic, this tartan plaid scarf never goes out of style. The colors are black, green and red, and it’s warm and soft, without being too voluminous. Plus, it’s 40% off with code NICELIST

I love the deep red of this shirred blouse, which is great for work, but also easily dressed up or down for all kinds of occasions.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS

TWO // Our sweet Mollie is growing like a weed and has almost doubled in size in the month we’ve had her! We originally thought she’d be around 20-pounds, but that theory is wrong considering she’s only four months old, and already 18-pounds! Funny enough, she just keeps longer, not taller.

She’s also found her voice and loves to ‘talk’ to us constantly (watch my Story to hear her raspy voice). She’s always hungry, loves to snuggle, and sleeps through the night. (Seriously, it’s like having a baby again!) The only casualties to her puppy teeth so far are my purse strap, and a corner of our duvet, so I’m calling that a win. We’ve trained her to ring the bell on the back door when she needs to go outside, and she’s trained us to open the door when all she wants to do is lie in the sun.

Sidenote: We first tied a random jingle bell on the door, but it wasn’t loud enough for us to hear…this one does the trick!

And in case you’re curious how she’s taken to being in our family…

THREE // We got dressed up and headed downtown to see The Grinch Who Stole Christmas this weekend, and loved the music, costumes and set. These are my favorite holiday traditions and I look forward to them all year.

I added a collared shirt and blingy earrings to this dress and felt so festive! This dress has the cutest puffed sleeve and pattern, and is a steal right now!

Fit Tip: I sized up to a small so the dress would hang instead of hug.

Mr. SP’s company party was a more casual event…so I paired this velvet peplum top with a moto jacket and OTK boots. It was simple and comfortable, but still felt pretty festive. These earrings didn’t hurt, either!

Peplum Top | Moto Jacket | OTK Boots | Earrings (on sale!)

I wore this outfit to church yesterday, but it felt pretty festive, so I thought I’d share it, too! My favorite pleated skirt with a classic plaid…the added bling brings it up a notch (my necklace is only $20!).

FOUR // I’ve rarely shown pictures of our downstairs Family Room, in fact, this is the only one I could find! But it’s featured in my InstaStories a lot since it’s our main hangout space, and I’m always asked about the rug…which happens to be on sale!! Find my 9×12 here, or the rest of the sizes here. Mine is actually more muted in person than their online images show.

FIVE // Several months ago I filmed a series of videos (25 actually!) with JCPenney, and they’ve been playing on their website, and all social channels for the last several weeks. It’s so crazy to be scrolling Instagram or Pinterest, and BAM there’s my face…and voice! #cringe Have y’all seen them pop up in your feeds? They’re only a few seconds each, and I’m talking about different gift ideas and products. One may or may not be a face massager. #doublecringe

SIX // And since this blog also serves as my personal scrapbook, I have to share my son’s Homecoming and Little Miss’s first musical theater pics from the last month! It’s ridiculous how much I love these kids!!

SEVEN // I shared our plans for Phase Two of the Kitchen Renovation (see those here), and then left you hanging!! #badblogger We’re actually very near complete, but I’m working on a full progress post so you can see the different stages in case you’re planning your own renovations. Until then, here’s a sneak peek of the new upper cabinets going in! Pretend my cabinets are better organized, mmmmkay? We also added these bar stools and it’s shocking the difference they made!

I am actually cursing you this morning for that Christmas crack!!! I made it yesterday and may or may not have eaten more than my share. Our oldest son had friends over for dinner and I thought they’d eat more of it, but, sadly, they left some that I’ll probably need to finish off today. That recipe is our middle son’s favorite and he’s been begging me since the beginning of December to make it but I put it off because I can’t resist it! It’s become a Christmas tradition! So, thanks…sort of. 😜

The picture of your daughter and the puppy is just too cute! Since we are rambling, here is a random question for you. I saw your instastories where you were playing the hearing things game. The reviews say that the noise in the headphones is too loud and gives many people a headache. So how loud is it? Is it really that bad? I’m considering giving it as a Christmas gift. Thanks!!!

We actually had to speak softer than regular speaking tone bc we could still hear the person talking while wearing the headphones! So no, I wouldn’t say they’re too loud.

I accidentally bought milk chocolate chips to make the crack. Do you think that’s ok, or are semi-sweet chips better? Thanks!
