Thanks so much for the love on our Day Date post yesterday, I love having Mr. SP on the blog! He’s always threatening asking to write his own post, so maybe one of these days I’ll set him free over here. Maybe. #nofilter
I’m hoping to get a jump on the holidays this year…not just because it makes me less stressed, but because I love the season so much! We saw a Christmas tree going up at the mall this weekend, and instead of being annoyed that they were starting so early, I figured, ‘Why not?!’
After all, people leave decor up for weeks after Christmas, simply because they enjoy it so much. So why not put it up early to enjoy longer, as well?! I actually really love Thanksgiving, and like to give the holiday it’s due, so I wait until the day after before pulling out our Christmas boxes.
But I was excited to get some seasonal decor going around here, so I went ahead and set our Thanksgiving Table…using mostly items from an unexpected source!
Dish Set | Burlap Runner | Wine Glass | Lantern | Pilar Candle Set | Linen Napkins | Burlap Ribbon
Would you believe almost everything on this table can be found at Walmart?! Last month at the BH&G Stylemaker Event (see that here), we used the cutest dishes in one of our classroom sessions…so I did what most nosy people do, I turned the plate over to find the source. I expected to find some high-end name I’d have to Google, and never be able to afford.
So I was so surprised to see they were the Better Homes & Gardens collection for Walmart. And excited, since that meant I could get my hands on a set without breaking the bank!
Turns out, they have several darling designs, along with a ton of other stylish pieces for the home.
Dining Room sources found here
I shared these brass lanterns in a recent Faves Under $50…I love the varying sizes clustered together, and will likely leave them as a year-round centerpiece on the Dining Room table. (See the full Dining Room and source list here.)
Sugarplum Style Tip: Would you also believe these are grocery store flowers?! You can take your own vase or vessel to your grocery store florist, choose the flowers you like, and have them arranged! Oftentimes, there’s no fee…just the cost of the flowers!
My original plan was to sprinkle small white pumpkins down the center, and in each bowl, but since there’s not a single white pumpkin left in my city, I made do with a few mini pinecones. Seriously, not a single pumpkin anywhere!?
Sugarplum Style Tip: Don’t worry about having complete, matching sets for each placesetting. Mixing it up gives the table dimension and makes it fun. I only have four wood ring chargers, so I alternated their placement. Same is true for the gold flatware and linen napkins. Solid white dishes are inexpensive and great for supplementing with other designs, too.

My mother-in-law and I have a pretty great arrangement when it comes to Thanksgiving…I set the table and bake a pie, and she cooks the bird! I’ll do anything to keep from handling raw poultry! #dirtybird I can’t wait for family to see this year’s table, and guess the source of the darling dishes and decor!

I may not start decorating for Christmas for a few more weeks, but nothing says I can’t start shopping! These great gift ideas are already on sale, and getting my wheels spinning. And don’t forget Walmart offers free shipping on all orders over $35. I love that it arrives in unmarked boxes, too (especially the toys!), so I’m better able to keep gifts a secret from the snoopers!
I’ve never seen Beats Wireless Headphones at this price, and the Kitchen Aid Mixer is $100 off! Even the gold flatware is under $35 for four placesettings!? But hurry, these prices go back up soon.

Where do you stand when it comes to Christmas decor…earlier the better, or wait for Thanksgiving? How about holiday shopping…have you started? Would you like to see more Gift Guides here?

I love the way you styled the table. It doesn’t look like you were working with a budget at all! 🙂

Gosh I love this! And if it wasn’t titled “on a budget”, I never would have known! And I’m loving the cake stand and the “hello” welcome mat. Great stuff!
Can you believe the mat is like $7?!?
I loved that you used Walmart for your post. It’s always nice to see things that are more budget friendly and still on trend.
I love this Better Homes and Gardens line!! It’s all so good, and affordable!
Wow! I can’t believe the source of your gorgeous table! Especially your lovely floral arrangement! Brilliant. Cassie’s got the magic touch!
I’m so tempted to put up/out all things Christmas now, but may have another construction job to do first-I know, I can get everything out and put together in another room first, then move it later.
Thanks again for the gorgeousness!
PS-don’t be jealous, holiday shopping (year-round) done by Halloween! Saves my sanity.
Lucky duck!!!!
What a great table… thanks for sharing such budget-friendly ideas! Would love to see a post on ideas for stocking gifts… I’ve got more to do this year (new fiance’ and a girlfriend) and have zero ideas at the moment. Yikes! Love the passion you share with us… thanks for helping us all focus on the beauty that can be found in every season! XO
Gorgeous table, Cassie! Love the colors and textures — and the price points on all the goodies. Thanks for sharing!

Wow! Your table is gorgeous! I love the tip about the grocery store flowers-who knew!
Thank you for the tip on flowers! I love that cake stand and the wood chargers! Like Alison, I would really love some stocking stuffer ideas for my husband and college age sons. I need gift ideas for their girlfriends too.
I have already started with the Christmas decor. I put up a total of 7! trees (5 big, 2 little), so I feel like I need to get started early. This way they can be up and I can enjoy it all by the time Thanksgiving is over. It also helps that I don’t have anyone here for Thanksgiving. I probably got on the decorating a little earlier than normal this year because I leave on December 15th for my self proclaimed “European Christmas Adventure.”
Can I come to your house for Christmas!!?? Seven trees sounds amazing!
Absolutely gorgeous, Cassie! Which grocery store do you like to use for your florals? I live in the Dallas area, too, and have had good luck with Central Market and Market Street but would love another source as well.
Thank you! Market Street did these for me. I use Tom Thumb, as well. They are all so talented!!
Just stunning – those flowers are the star of the show!! When I saw the Insta-story of you standing on the table taking pictures, I was wondering, what the heck is she doing – but now we know!! I don’t have a dining room table any more due to the fact we bought a smaller house (by the beach!), but I’d be ordering that tableware in an instant if I did!
I’ll take a beach house over a dining room any day!!!
I am in LOVE with those dishes!!! I love your table setting. I am off work this Friday for Veteran’s Day and am thinking of putting Christmas out then. It’s my BUSY time at work through December and I want to be able to enjoy it without it being such a chore!
With all this Christmas talk, I’m starting to change my mind on when to decorate, too!!!
I’d love to see some gift guides. 🙂 Such a pretty table!

Camille, I realize we all have different tastes and styles (thank goodness!), and art is subjective. I was thrilled at the chance to hang Ann Jackson’s beautiful paper in my home. She is an incredibly talented artist, not to mention, lovely human being. And while I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment, I’m going to err on the side of class and grace, and remove it.
I love my fall decorations so I don’t switch them for Christmas until after Thanksgiving. And yes, bring on the gift guides! I love to shop early – my three kids all have birthdays between now and the end of the year so if I don’t plan ahead I go cray cray!
Love it all and still so impressed with Wally World! I have the same deal with my MIL….except I don’t mind cooking it all as long as I do not have to touch the turkey!
I am firmly in the no Christmas decor until after thanksgiving camp. And then I think it should stay up through the 12 days of Christmas. This year I’m really enjoying the fact that fall has finally hit north texas, so I don’t want to rush right into winter. I have started my shopping and wrapping, though. Gift guides geared toward men and teenagers would be wonderful!
I would LOVE to see more gift guides! I have bought more items suggested by you than any other blogger I follow! I LOVE that you are using these from WalMart, thank you!!! It proves you can be stylish and savvy in what you purchase. I love how down to earth you are in all you do, THANK YOU! I’m one very loyal reader!!! xoxo
Do you do all your interior designs? It’s absolutely beautiful ❤️
Thank you so much, Debbie! A Well Dressed Home helped with our family room and primary bath, and I’m fortunate one of my close friends, Hunted Interior, is an incredible designer, too. So I have lots of talented people to bounce ideas with! Happy Holidays to you! xo. C
