Snapshots from NYC + the BH&G Stylemaker Event

Welcome back to a new week, friends, and happy Halloween-Eve! Our weekend started out like any other, but somehow ended unexpectedly-exciting. If you follow me on Instagram Stories, then you’ve already met our new family member! Darn those animal rescue groups with their sweet furry babies! We’re giving her time to adjust to our household, but I’ll introduce her here soon.

Last month, I had the privilege of attending Better Homes & Gardens’ annual Stylemaker Event, held in New York City. It’s an exciting day-long workshop that brings together home, food, fashion, and lifestyle bloggers from around the country, to share with each other, and learn from the BH&G editors and top stylists. (See past year’s recaps here and here.)

It was a whirlwind day, with loads of information and inspiration. I love these blogger events (this one is especially top-notch), but for me, they are a mix of being motivated, and also feeling overwhelmed by everything there is to know and do in the world of blogging.

So I mostly focus on the fun and fellowship of spending time with such creative, inspiring, like-minded women! I blog because I want to…because I love it. I do this because I’m passionate about creating, writing, inspiring, and connecting with people. And events like these are icing on the cake!

Plus, I’ll go anywhere this girl is going! Megan is one of my closest friends, and my forever-roommate at all things blogger. This year, the Stylemaker Event was held in Brooklyn, and it was such so cool to see the city from a different vantage point. The hotel was incredible, too.

We ended the day with a cocktail party, then quickly changed clothes and headed out for dinner at Henry’s End, one of Brooklyn’s best.

We always tack on an extra day to explore New York on our own, and while it’s never enough, we’ve learned to make the most it! We started with a walking Food Tour of Greenwich Village (my fourth tour with Foods of NY…I can’t recommend this experience enough!), and ended with pizza and a Broadway Show. Pretty much your perfect New York City day! (But comfy shoes required!)

I added this cozy long cardigan for the chilly evening…can you tell I’m excited to see Bette Midler?!

While in Brooklyn, pizza at Juliana’s is a must! We also loved Cafe Dante in Greenwich Village for an afternoon latte and live music.

{Where We Stayed}
1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge ~ I adore this hotel chain, and this location is perfect for staying in Brooklyn. It’s right by the bridge and has a rooftop pool & bar with stunning views of the city. The rooms are well-stocked and everything is controlled by an in-room iPad. The only downside is the time & expense of getting into New York.

As far as my travel style goes…I kept it comfy and casual!

As inspiring as these events are, it’s the girl time I treasure most…and this one and I never stop laughing! Until next time, New York!

    I missed your Insta-story — please tell me you adopted a second dog for Miss Maggie? We rescued a second dog from South Carolina back in June to keep our 11 year old rescue from St. Croix company. They are BFFs, now.

    I am delighted you used the photo where you have have sneaked your feet out of the gorgeous pink heels at the cocktail or dinner event. Keep’n it real, which I appreciate. I only wear heels on VERY rare occasions anymore, due to terrible discomfort/pain, and when I do, I just MAY need to sneak them off to rest my toesies!
