Happy Wednesday, friends! I hope your week is off to a great start. I made it home from San Pancho Monday night (see more on that HERE), and I’m already scheming how to get back to explore the area more!

No question it’s been a busy month of travel, with back-to-back work trips, followed by a girls’ trip that’s been in the books for months. In years’ past I would have turned down one or two of those opportunities, but I’m trying to lean in to this new season of life with a big YES!

It’s definitely a learning curve balancing the end of life as I’ve known it for the last 22 years, and this new wide-open freedom! Especially since I’m able to work anywhere with wifi, it’s opening up a whole new way of thinking about life, and how and where we spend our days!

Turns out the days I was dreading, are pretty freaking awesome! It doesn’t mean I don’t miss my girl fiercely, or mourn the days of our young family, but there are new joys ahead, too.

Last month we had a blissful few days at Lovango Resort, a place that’s been on my short list since seeing one of my favorite authors, Elin Hilderbrand, mention it. She celebrates the completion of each book with a stay on Lovango, so when they invited us to visit, I couldn’t say YES fast enough!

How to Get to Lovango //

We flew American Airlines from Dallas to St. Thomas (via Charlotte). From there, the hotel made arrangements for airport pick-up and 30-minute taxi to the ferry dock, where we hopped on the free private boat directly to Lovango. (See our journey HERE.)

The Lovango ferry runs the 10-minute route regularly all day from both St. John and St. Thomas for overnight guests, day-trippers, and those coming for a gourmet dinner.

Sugarplum Travel Tip: Lovango, St. John, and St. Thomas are all US territories, so no passports needed! Unless you venture over to the British Virgin Islands.

Arriving on Lovango feels like a White Lotus experience, with the extremely friendly and utterly-hospitable staff waiting at the end of the dock with smiles and a cold drink. The small, secluded island houses just the resort, a few private homes, and a family of free-roaming goats. (We heard they swam over from St. Thomas, ha! But surely that can’t be right!?)

Lovango Resort & Beach Club is built seamlessly into the landscape, offering both a barefoot casualness and chic luxury vibe. You can explore on foot, or text for a pick-up in their ATV-style golf carts, but there are no cars on Lovango Cay! (See more of the island HERE.)

It overlooks the islands of St. John and St. Thomas, but Lovango feels worlds away from the bustle of tourists and cruise ships. And while they offer complete serenity, they also have a chic collection of retail shops that are so perfectly-curated, I found myself shopping almost every day!

The south side of the island, overlooking St. Thomas and St. John, houses the beach club and restaurants, available to day guests. But the north side is home to the secluded tents, treehouses, and cabins, as well as trails and the private Crescent Beach, all available only to overnight guests.

The Jungle Gym is a Flintstone-style gym directly on the beach, and is expected to be complete this season!

The Beach Club has loungers, cabanas, games, toys, and a robust food and cocktail menu, all serviced by the friendliest staff. The number of day passes are limited, so the beach club never felt crowded, but regardless, hotel guests are always guaranteed a prime spot.

Sugarplum Tip: The food at Lovango is next-level good, but don’t miss the flatbreads and ice cream cookie sandwiches at the Sand Pit cafe!

We always love the chance to get on the water, and the Virgin Islands by boat is a must! We booked a half-day trip with Drift Charters, where Captain Forrest found us quiet waters for incredible snorkeling, a private beach, and lunch at Pizza Pi!

He picked us up directly from the Lovango dock for an easy, perfect day! He’s also an expert fisherman, so he’s your guy for the big catches!

The Accommodations at Lovango Resort //

The accommodations are part of what makes Lovango so special and unique! They offer traditional villas, treehouses, and even glamping tents (think safari!), each tucked in to the hillside with stunning ocean views and private outdoor spaces.

They are beautifully decorated and so comfortable, with a small fridge and nespresso maker, and most with outdoor showers. I shared a tour of each HERE, you don’t want to miss them!

We stayed in a new one-bedroom villa, and while so lovely, I think the treehouses and tents are super cool and unique! If we’re lucky enough to return, I’d choose a couple of nights in the glamping tents, followed by a few nights in a treehouse.
