Cute & Affordable Children’s Room Art, Part 2

Okay, I think we’ve spent enough time talking about travel and it’s time to get back to some project posts! We had a ball in Paris, Brugges and Brussels, but I am itching to get my hands dirty (with something other than sugar!)

In March, I ran a post entitled Cute & Affordable Children’s Room Art, Part 1. And from that, you probably assumed there’d be a Part 2! Oops. Well today I’ll get to it! I’m assembling art to create a Gallery Wall in Babygirl’s Room, and of course I’m doing it on the cheap creatively frugal!

So far I’ve framed these cute Suzy Ultman prints and Air France posters from a calendar, and made Nailhead Trim art out of Ikea frames and thumbtacks. It doesn’t get much more frugal than that! Well I trumped it with this project…how’s $1 sound?! All it takes is a picture frame from the Dollar Store, and a fabulous magazine ad!

I love pretty much every rug and fabric Madeline Weinrib creates, but unless I’m willing to forgo food, we won’t be adding her designs to Babygirl’s Room any time soon.

But I was determined to use her prints in the room somehow, so I turned her fabulous ads in the glossy shelter publications in to art!

I simply scanned the ad, then using Picnik (a free online photo site) I covered up the existing text and replaced it with my own. Then I printed on regular copy paper and inserted in an 8×10 picture frame from the Dollar Store that I spraypainted white.

I could have gone with another Ikea Ribba frame, but I wanted something thin to mix with the heavier frames on the Gallery Wall. These Dollar Store frames even have actual glass fronts!

This pink tied in great with the radish in her Bed and Monogrammed Pelmet. And the patterns are so fun!

I created this next one using an image of Madeline’s infamous chevron rug I found online!

amazing art

Since they are just paper prints, I’ll be able to switch out the text for no cost as she gets older!

I’m filling in the gaps of the Gallery Wall with other items she already had in her room, along with random stuff I’ve found around the house. I can’t wait to show you!

And PS — since I’m not claiming these designs as my own and selling them, I’m not infringing on any copyrights. I think. I’m living dangerous, I guess!

Cute & Affordable Children’s Room Art, Part 1

You guys are amazing! Thank you for all the kind words about the progress in Babygirl’s Room and the No-Sew Pillows! Now I’m turning my attention to the big, blank wall opposite the bed. Sure, I could leave it…but why, when a gallery arrangement would be so awesome?!?

Filling a gallery wall can be expensive, but framing a great print, postcard, calendar, fabric, photo etc. is my favorite way to add interest to walls without breaking the bank. (Like I did here and here.) For a gallery wall, I like to use varying sizes of items, so I looked for large prints first.

I am giddy with excitement over these adorable prints by talented artist Suzy Ultman! With all the Paris-themed decor already in Babygirl’s Room, I definitely need these to mix it up a bit.

Adorably whimsy and playful, right?!? Suzy has an Etsy store where she sells Limited Edition prints, but I found this book of 12 posters on Amazon for less than $20!

Each poster is 12″ x 16″, and beautifully and colorfully printed on clean white cardstock. I can’t believe the quality, and you can’t beat the price! The hardest part has been deciding which prints to use (because all 12 might be overkill)?!? I think these help the room stay youthful, and the colors are obviously perfect for our scheme!
I picked up some white Ikea Ribba frames for $10 each, and I can’t help but smile at all the cuteness!

I think I’m off to a good start on the Gallery Wall, and I have some ideas on other unique ways to fill it. What do you use in your Gallery Wall arrangements?
