Happy Monday, friends, and welcome back to a new week! How was your weekend? We celebrated Mr. SP’s birthday and our nephew’s wedding…and welcomed my friends Val and Suzie to the house!
They’re here to shoot our next GxHSP Collection this week, and I can hardly wait to see these new pieces come to life! I’ll be posting sneak peeks and behind-the-scenes on my InstaStory all week, so you can follow along HERE if you’d like!
In a recent Dressing Room Diaries post I shared a slew of new Fall finds, and most of them I styled with white jeans. I love how fresh the colors of fall look against the crisp white. In fact, I love the colors of every season paired with my go-to white jeans, and wear them year-round!
But many of you asked about the old rule of ‘No White Jeans After Labor Day‘? Well I say it’s just that…an old rule! White jeans are a chic base, and more than okay for September and beyond.

The old adage of ‘no white after Labor Day’ actually stems from the wealthy elite in the early-19th century, and was more of a sign of privilege than etiquette. But for some asinine reason, the ‘rule’ stuck and continues to be challenged to this day!
But in fact, winter white, from shoes and outerwear to knits and even white pants, is chicer than ever. I’ve been wearing this exact pair of white jeans for five years (as evidenced HERE), and I still love them as much as I did the day I found them.
The mid-rise hits at the right spot to be flattering, but still cover all the lady bits. They have just enough thickness and stretch to provide support, and a comfortable fit. And finally, the pockets stay hidden, and they don’t break the bank!!
Fit Tip: Size down if in-between, I’m wearing a 25. I also had mine hemmed to ankle length.

I love this camel sweater and the tone-on-tone combo it creates with the white jeans. I do tend to keep my shoes lighter with white jeans in Fall, and choose taupe and leopard most often.

I could do a major outfit round-up on these leopard flats…they are hands-down my most-worn Fall shoe for the last two years!
Fit Tip: I find them true to size. They are a bit stiff at first wear, but relax quickly.

Another fun combo, I love this camo jacket and sneakers for Fall weekends. The jacket is incredible quality, and the perfect weight for transitional weather. The pink sweatshirt hood is removable, too.
Fit Tip: The jacket is a relaxed fit, I’m wearing an XS

Notice the cute heart necklace and heart hoop earrings? They’re from Kendra Scott’s new Fall Collection! Both are lightweight filigree, and go with everything.

I scored these sneakers during the NSale, and have worn them on repeat ever since. They’re super comfortable and the colors are Fall-friendly.
Fit Tip: I sized down half

And just for fun, here’s a similar combo that’s pretty much my Fall uniform.

So where do you stand on wearing white after Labor Day? Does it change your thinking knowing the origin of the ‘rule’? The only consideration I make is in regards to the fabric and climate, so I’ll leave eyelet and linen for the steamy Summer months…but white denim is a year-round wear for me!

Guess I am old fashioned. Just cannot get behind wearing white after Labor Day and before Easter. I tried it and felt like folks were looking at me and thinking ‘hmmm….she is not a true southern girl.’ I know it is crazy but that is one thing that is just ingrained in my mind. Just can’t do it. LOL.
Do whatever works for you, Peggy! My rule is that there are no rules! xo, Cassie
Hi Cassie!
I LOVE LOVE a pair of white jeans, no matter what time of the year!
Congratulations on another collab with Gibson! I have always been curious on how this works & I am also well aware that every retailer / influencer is different… But do you get a share of the sales as well as your affiliate link portion or how does things like this typically work? You put so much time and effort into the process, so it’s only fair that you get a good portion of the sales.
Have a happy week!
So my thoughts are….how do you stay clean? I don’t want to have to worry about where I sit. Even if I wear white indoors, the dog or the cat wants me. Love the look. But….in less its for a special event not very likely to wear.
Dirt is a risk you do have to take when wearing white denim, but I try to be careful no matter what colors I’m wearing! If you think you’ll feel too uncomfortable in white though, just skip it! xo, C
Can’t we see u guys in your wedding guest attire again, ha,ha! It was so awesome! : ))
Thanks, Sandy! We had fun getting all dressed up!
I loved learning about the origin of the “rule”! I live in Maine so I’d blend in with the snow if I wore white jeans after Labor Day 🙂
Ha! I still say you could rock it! xo, Cassie
Your posts are classy and on point. I am a 40 something inspired by your class and style. White after labor…so old school. Thank you for your positive influence.
Well gosh thank you so much, that is so nice!!! <3 C
Is that a Barrington bag in the last photo? I’d love to hear your review of their bags.
Hi Kimmie, yes it is! I LOVE my Barrington bags, I have several! They are sturdy, well-made, last forever, and I love that they are customizable. I’ve linked my favorite one below! xo, C

YAS!! When I explain to my girlfriends that the “NO White after Labor Day” was a way of SHAMING other women who couldn’t afford to change out their wardrobe – they finally get it. I’m not going to take part in a stupid RULE meant to shame others.
I like to think that fashion doesn’t need that many rules, let’s all wear what feels good!! xo, C
White jeans all year, any time. But, as you said, people need to do what makes them comfortable. Can’t wait to see your new Gibson line.
Thanks so much for the excitement!! xo, C
I’m with you, wear white whenever you want. Get your hair died purple, get a sleeve of tattoos, whatever makes you happy. If people are looking at you, smile. Let’s be true to ourselves and not some outdated rules. Life is too precious to worry what other people think of our choices. Let’s put our faith and trust in people for who they are and not what they are wearing. The world could stand a lot more kindness and a lot less judging.
Totally agree, Jeri! xo, C
Yes! Love it. I agree and often say rock white all year long if it makes you feel good. Not to mention I’m always too darn hot to wear white denim in the summer when it’s “allowed” 😉
You make a very good point!! Ha!
