Hi Sugarplum!

White Jeans | Military Jacket & Stripes

September 26, 2016

Monday came around way to quickly over here…but then again, when doesn’t it?! We had a fun weekend celebrating the birth of Mr. SP…he’s dangerously close to a big birthday! And I do mean BIG. It’s crazy to think I’ve loved the man more than half my life. That’s a lot of birthdays together!

Today I’m excited to kick off a new {5 Ways} series with you! As soon as the calendar read September, I started getting a lot of questions about Fall style, and specifically, my thoughts on wearing white jeans after Labor Day.

Well, not only am I on board with it, but I highly encourage it! I’ve actually written a few posts on the topic (see them here and here), but since the ‘No White After Labor Day’ myth still seems to be in question, I thought I’d revisit the subject, and hopefully, sway any of you doubters.
No question white jeans are a Summer wardrobe staple, but they’re actually the perfect base for crisp outfits all year long! Every day this week I’ll style a new outfit around my favorite white jeans, and I’m kicking it off with my go-to Fall uniform…striped tee, plaid scarf, and military jacket.

Obviously you could swap in traditional denim, but there’s just something so chic about white jeans. You’ve heard me sing the praises of these particular white jeans before, after having tried no fewer than 20 pair! #whitejeansareseriousbusiness They were all too thin, too low, too high, or too pricey.

I can get away with thinner jeans in a dark rinse (love these!), but white jeans tend to show all the lumps and bumps if they don’t have a certain amount of thickness. #aintnobodywantstoseelumpsandbumps I also hate when the pockets show through!

But these are my Goldilocks of white jeans. I’d say Holy Grail of white jeans, but that might be a tad dramatic. The mid-rise hits at the right spot to be flattering, but still cover all the lady bits. They have just enough thickness and stretch to provide support, and a comfortable fit. And finally, the pockets stay hidden, and they don’t break the bank!! See? Holy Grail Goldilocks!

Fit Tip: I sized down one (I’m wearing a 0), and had them hemmed to ankle-length. They are definitely Women’s sizing, as opposed to Juniors.

Plaid Scarf (love this one, too!) | Ring

Fit Tip: The jacket is lightweight cotton canvas, so it makes a great top layer for milder climates. It runs large, so size down at least one. I’m wearing an XXS.

When the weather cools off even more, add a plaid blanket scarf (love this smaller infinity version, too)…or if you just can’t wait that long, lose the jacket and add the scarf. Any combination with the striped tee is cute in my book!

Sugarplum Style Tip: Don’t stress about mixing white and ivory or off-white…it all goes! In fact, I’m mixing all the shades of white later this week!

I could create an entire {5 Ways} around just a striped tee, but this week is all about the white jean, and hopefully these posts will keep you from packing away your favorite pair! Where do you stand on white jeans after Labor Day? First I had {5 Ways} around the white jacket, and then the white tee...for someone who loves color as much as I do, I sure rely on white a lot in my wardrobe!
