Dressing Room Diaries

Happy Friday, friends, and cheers to the weekend! It’s Mr. SP’s birthday day this weekend, and my nephew is getting married…so lots of celebrations!

The wedding is black tie, and I’ve narrowed down my dresses to this one or this one. Both are amazing, especially considering the price! And talk about the best find ever…this tux looks like a million bucks on Mr. SP! Literally cheaper than a rental, and now he owns a freaking tux…who are we?!

Today I’ve got a new Dressing Room Diaries, full of fun new arrivals for Fall! It’s a mix of retailers from J.Crew to Walmart…but I don’t want you to judge the shirt by it’s label, so they’re all mixed in! My job is to find the cutest things, at the best prices, and I think you’ll love these!

You know the drill with Dressing Room Diaries… the shots aren’t good, the lighting is bad, and I’m in desperate need of a hairbrush. But it’s real life, real girl, real clothes… and hopefully helpful for you to see them this way, instead of perfectly styled on a model. So let’s get started!

Fit Note: I’m 5’4″-ish, 125 pounds-ish (give or take #covid), with a slight pear shape. My usual size is XS/0.

 

Sweaters & Cardigans //

We’re still a few months away from heavy sweaters, so I focused on softness and lighter weight. And it doesn’t get any softer than cashmere! This sweater is a bit of a splurge, but is so timeless and well-made, I know I’ll wear it for years and years. I love the mock neck and stripes, plus the colors are perfection. I’ll wear it with everything from trousers and heels to jeans and sneakers.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small, I sized up one for more of a relaxed fit.

These colorblock sweaters are not only completely adorable, but crazy soft, too! They’re a stretchy boucle in a medium weight, with a slight high-low hem. I’m partial to these colorful ones, but they come in solids, too. Wear them with cut-offs now, or boots later.

One of my favorite finds this month….this sweater is a cross between a cardigan and a blazer, and I’m completely smitten! Made of a ribbed cotton blend, it’s a great sturdy weight, without being bulky. Wear that collar popped or down (popped…always popped!), and keep it classic with flats or make it edgy with booties. The styling options are unlimited!

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS. If in-between, go down one…unless you have a bootie. I kept my usual size so it wouldn’t pul across the bum.

Another winning pullover…this one a similar stretchy boucle as the colorblock, but in a v-neck. It has a comfy and cozy relaxed fit, and is an easy go-to for fall and winter.

I never a stripe I didn’t love…throw pink in the mix and I’m always on board! This cute striped sweater is a lightweight knit, in a relaxed oversized fit. It’s a little longer with a side slit to wear it out or dress it up by tucking it in a skirt or trousers.

Okay, clearly camel is my color of choice for Fall…I always gravitate to it! This sweater feels so luxe, and has the cutest puffed sleeves and mock neck. Can you believe it’s actually a bodysuit!? Perfect for pairing with high-waisted jeans for a sleek silhouette, or a midi skirt for total chic. It comes in a range of beautiful colors and is under $30!

Tops & Tees //

This top had me at details! I love the ruffle neck and statement sleeves, plus the color is perfect for Fall. It’s a sturdy cotton, so doesn’t feel too summery at all. The hem is straight for wearing out, or keeping it tucked.

This faux-wrap top is made of a lightweight woven material that grazes the body for a soft fit. It has a relaxed flutter sleeve and dropped peplum…so cute with a skinny jean or pant.

Dress it up or keep it casual, this fun statement top is a soft, satin material with a slight sheen. The neckline is so cute, with a fun smocked waist and sleeve. I love it in black and pink, but the green was a little too neon for my taste.

Yep, the puff sleeve obsession continues. This shape is just so flattering on the arm, creating a leaner line. This is a lightweight knit tee with a touch of stretch, in fun fall stripes, and super versatile.

These pics don’t do the pants any justice, but trust me…they’re cute! They’re silky and soft, with a wide elastic waistband…but the pleats give them an elevated style that is equal parts comfy and chic.

This henley is super soft and stretchy, and perfect for cut-offs, jeans, and joggers. Seriously one of those pieces that feels like pajamas!

Speaking of soft, this twist front top is the softest jersey knit that has an almost-silky feel. So cute with the drop shoulder and front-tuck style…I wear it with jeans out, or joggers at home.

I shared this one from my last Target Haul, but had to share it again now that I have the correct size. It’s just so stinking cute! The puff sleeve shape I love, in a thick sweatshirt material. And hello, pink leopard!

Once legging season arrives, I’m forever searching for tunic tops that cover the bum. This one is definitely long enough, and in a thick sweatshirt material.

Obviously I love the color of this pullover, and it’s super soft, too. It has a half-zip and front pocket, and feels like it’s been washed 100 times already!

This little top is a cross between a sweatshirt and long-sleeve tee, in a great medium weight. It’s slightly cropped with a raw edge hem for a super casual style. It comes in several great colors, and has matching jogger pants, too.

I’m not usually a fan of Old Navy workout leggings, but these I like!! The fit is great, with a high-waist and good compression. Plus the pattern is stinking cute! I also love the range of options on lengths, so I’m able to get the crop I prefer.

This tunic is softer-than-soft with a relaxed cowlneck and long length that’s perfect for leggings!

And did you notice these jeans I wore in almost every shot?? I’m obsessed! They’re a flattering high-rise with a little kick at the ankle that’s just perfect for sneakers and flats. Plus, they’re a sturdy denim with enough stretch to hold everything in. I find them true-to-size and wear a 26.
