Happy Friday, friends, and cheers to the weekend! Mr. SP has been backpacking from Mammoth to Yosemite for the last week, and I can’t wait for him to get home tonight! Wonder just how grizzly he’ll be after a week of sleeping on the ground and burying your own poo? (I’m not even kidding…why do you think I didn’t go?!)
It’s funny you don’t realize just how much your spouse does around the house until he’s gone! I was struggling to keep up without him this week…but don’t tell him I said that, ha!
Today I’ve got a new Dressing Room Diaries, full of fun new arrivals for late summer and early fall! It’s a mix of retailers from J.Crew to Walmart…but I don’t want you to judge the book by it’s label, so they’re all mixed in! My job is to find the cutest things, regardless of the brand, and I think you’ll be surprised by these.
You know the drill with Dressing Room Diaries… the shots aren’t good, the lighting is bad, and I’m in desperate need of a hairbrush. But it’s real life, real girl, real clothes… and hopefully helpful for you to see them this way, instead of perfectly styled on a model. So let’s get started!

I can always count on Gibson to deliver the softest, most comfy pieces…and this top will be a new go-to. Made of a cool jersey knit, it’s lightweight and crazy soft. It has a drop shoulder and cute twist front that gives it a half-tuck style. Wear it with jeans, shorts, or the coordinating jogger.

Clearly I have this thing with flutter sleeves! I just love how they skim the arm, creating a slimmer silhouette. This one is comfy jersey tee material, with a cute textured swiss dot.

A closet staple, this striped tee is preppy perfection. Made of a soft, washable cotton, with 3/4 sleeves and slight boat neck. Super cute with a basic jean or short, and even cuter when paired with a floral skirt. Layer it under a jacket for a fun pattern peek, too.

My infatuation with elbow sleeve tops continues, and this one is a cross between a t-shirt and sweater. Soft and lightweight, it comes in fall’s best colors. Wear it casual, or tuck it in to a skirt or trousers for dressed up workwear.

I never met a popover top I didn’t love, especially when it’s chambray! A great transitional piece, this top is a sturdy chambray with a petite color and flattering v-neck. The sleeves are long, but I prefer them pushed up. It has a side slit for wearing out or tucked.

Alas, nearly all my Nordstrom by mail purchases (finally arrived) are going back to the store. I do not do well trying to buy online. I bought pjs, booties, leopard print mules, and joggers; all are getting returned. The Neulash I’m keeping.

That’s such a bummer your pieces weren’t a good fit! I do 90% of my shopping online (even prior to Covid!), and certainly have a lot of misses. That’s why I try to stick with retailers with free shipping and returns. The goal of my DRD posts is to find the best things and give you (hopefully) helpful tips on sizing for your own online orders.
