Dressing Room Diaries - Hi Sugarplum!

Happy almost-Friday, friends! With school back in session, weekends are about to resume their previous level of excitement. Unlike the last few months, where I had no idea what day it was! Ah, the oblivion of Summer break!

Little Miss had her first full day of remote learning yesterday, and was relieved by how organized it was. We so appreciate all the hard work the teachers and school have done to make this experience better! It’s all so new, and likely changing from week-to-week, so we’re just trying to stay patient and keep a positive outlook.

But let’s get to today’s post…I’m bringing it to you a day early because the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is finally open to all Nordy Club members at 8:30am CST. (Non-cardholders will be able to shop starting next Wednesday.) I can’t say I like how spread out the NSale is this year, but I realize the intent was to allow more social distancing in the stores. #safetyfirst

So Mama Sugarplum and I are back with a brand-new Dressing Room Diaries, sharing more of our favorite finds on sale! Each combo is styled with head-to-toe sale items, including boots, jeans and jewelry, so make sure to check all the links! Let’s get after it, shall we?

Fit Note: I’m 5’4″-ish, 120 pounds-ish (depending on the week’s taco count), with a slight pear shape. My usual size is 0/XS. Mama Sugarplum is 5’1″, with an hourglass figure, and her size is XS/2P.

Sweaters & Cardigans //

Both of us did some serious oooh-ing and aaah-ing when we slipped on this cowlneck tunic sweater! It’s made of a thick, luxe cashmere blend that’s super soft and so warm. I love the oatmeal color, relaxed neck, and of course the longer length for jeans or leggings. It’s darling with leopard booties or slides, too.

Another cozy option, this pullover is cashmere, too…but in a more casual hooded style. It has a slight high-low hem that covers much of the bum, and a side slit for wearing out.

Long cardigans are pretty much a fall uniform, especially paired with a great-fitting jean and bootie. Madewell makes a great cardigan, in a medium weight, lots of stretch, and fun colors. This one also has a front pocket and is long, but not overwhelming.

This cardigan is lightweight and relaxed, in a luxe cashmere blend. I love the length and pockets, and it’s so cute with a long sleeve tee peeking out on the arms. It comes in a slew of colors…the light pink is a tad sheer, but the others are opaque.

The tee is a super-stretchy jersey knit, and very fitted.

I shared this long cardigan last week, but new colors have now been added! It’s extra long, and lightweight, great for Spring and early Fall. The camisoles are darling, and on sale (for all shoppers).

This relaxed sweater was one of your top sellers last week…and with great reason! It’s so soft, with the best oversized fit for Fall. And so many styling options!

This crewneck sweater is a great workwear staple…lightweight with a slight puff on the shoulder and three-quarter sleeves. Wear it with trousers and pencil skirts, or with jeans and flats for a more casual style. The silhouette is simple, yet flattering, and a great Zoom piece.

This is a similar lightweight sweater, in crewneck pullover style…but this one has button details on the sleeves for a little more feminine touch. It comes in a ton of colors and is a great price! Dress it up or down, it’s another workwear workhorse.

Tops & Tees //

Speaking of workwear, these leopard tops are not only darling, but super versatile! Pair them with jeans, trousers, or pencil skirts, and wear them alone or layered under a chic blazer. They’re a soft woven material that hangs beautifully, and the leopard pairs with black, brown and just about any other color.

This faux-wrap top is flattering and professional, but is actually made of the softest fleecey knit! I love the blouson sleeve and soft colors. So comfy you could wear it with joggers for the perfect Zoom combo!

Mama Sugarplum found these sassy leopard jeans, and just had to have them! They’re a high-rise with just a touch of stretch, and ankle length.

Pajamas //

Mama Sugarplum’s favorite category…she grabs a new pair every year during the Sale. The material of these Moonlight pajamas is the softest jersey knit that’s cool to the touch, and doesn’t hug. They come in a shorts set, plus a short sleeve and long sleeve with pants.

These pj pants come in fun patterns with a drawstring waist. They aren’t as soft as the Moonlight, but still comfy. The tee is super soft with a draped fit

I had to giggle yesterday. Rarely do I read the comment section of your blog. You handled yesterday with grace. Ironically I’ve been having discussions with my high school son about defusing situations and conversations. A skill that both my kids should learn as it will benefit them in adulthood. You have that skill. Anyhow, never thought I would be asking this, could you review face masks? Trying to find ones that I like, my kids like, my husband will wear. I’d like to know your kids opinions too.

I purchased several of your recommendations (camo jacket with hood, knit blazer with notched collar in red and gray, and zella leggings). I had quite a few recommendations of yours on my wishlist but alas they sold out before I was able to enter the sale. I ended up going into the actual Nordstrom store yesterday and decided, on a whim, to try on the Gibson fleece wrap top and fleece joggers. I am not one to by lounge wear or spend much money on pj’s but…..then I put these yummy pieces of comfy and flattering happiness on and I knew they were going home with me! What I really wanted to do was wear them home and never take them off! The sales gal told me she is afraid to buy them because she will not want to wear anything else! True! Again, thank you, Cassie!
