Dressing Room Diaries | Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Edition

Happiest of Fridays, friends, and cheers to the weekend! High school volleyball started back up, and after only a week of 6:30am practice times, I’m ready for a break. You’d think after being home for so long, we’d crave the opportunity to get out, but honestly I don’t have the stamina for this anymore, ha!

We’re hoping to escape to the lake, if only for a night, for a last hoorah of summer. Both kids resume school soon, Little Miss next week, and Mr. College leaves the following week. I’ve had people ask me if it will be as hard to say goodbye this year as it was the first time. I would think it won’t be, but ask me again in 13 days. But who’s counting! #gulp

Okay, let’s move on before I start blubbering…the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale opens to Ambassadors today at 8:30am, and Mama Sugarplum and I are here for it! We were invited to our local Nordstrom this week, and discovered a whole slew of new finds. (Find the entire sale HERE.)

In fact, way too many to share…so instead of sharing everything that caught our eye, we’re only sharing our absolute favorites…the things we’d buy for ourselves. And in most cases, we did buy! But this is our very favorite sale of the year, and we use it to refresh old items, stock up on go-tos, and even grab some holiday gifts.

Fit Note: I’m 5’4″-ish, 120 pounds-ish (depending on the week’s taco count), with a slight pear shape. My usual size is XS/0. Mama Sugarplum is 5’1″, with an hourglass figure, and her usual size is XS/2p.

Pajamas & Loungewear //

We’re shaking things up this time and starting with loungewear and pajamas, because honestly, it’s still the main thing we’re wearing around here. These pajamas are hands-down Mama SP’s faves, and this is her 6th year buying a new set (she waits for the NSale as it’s the only time they go on sale)!

They are a thick, stretchy jersey knit, that’s cool to the touch, and come in short sleeve, long sleeve and even a shorts version. They wash and dry beautifully, and hold up for years!

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS. Normally I size up in pjs, but these run a little big.

I shared my favorite lounge set earlier this week, and have yet to find anything that compares in softness or comfort! Especially for the price. It not only comes in the new soft leopard, but also this pretty olive.

I love all the colors…the pink is a tad sheer, but the rest I’d wear out of the house.

Activewear //

Zella has been a go-to workout brand for years, and the quality is always spot-on. I love the high-waist and smooth seams that don’t pinch or dig. I usually stick with solid black, but these are so fun! The bra is a new find, and I love the longer length for pairing with high-waist leggings. It offers medium support, so not ideal for high-impact if you’re busty.

Fit Tip: I size up one in Zella tops, bra included. Wearing a small bra and XS leggings.

Mom loves their long sleeve shirts for early morning walks…they’re super lightweight! We’re both hardcore fans of the Adidas Ultraboost, but agreed this new style is just as comfortable. I can’t wait to try them out!

I love zipper jackets for throwing on after a workout, and this one is super soft and a great weight for most of the year. It’s stretchy, with a tall neck, front pockets, and even thumb holes.

These running shorts fit great, with lots of room in the leg opening (no hugging or pulling), and a comfortable waistband. They have a built-in liner, as well, and come in black.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small jacket and shorts.

Sweaters //

This sweater was a surprise find for sure! Not only is it made of a soft and cozy material, with a relaxed fit and slightly longer length, but it’s under $40! AND, a percentage of the sales are donated to organizations that empower youth. It’s a win all around. But good luck choosing a color!

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS, but you could def size down depending on the fit you’re going for.

Mom paired it with some sassy leopard jeans…so cute, right?!

Another cute sweater, in a super-soft chenille yarn. The neck is relaxed with a dropped shoulder, and it falls to the bum. It comes in great Fall solids, and some fun stripes.

Barefoot Dreams cardigans need no description…they are legendary for their magic material. I usually reserve them for being cozy around the house, but they are super cute with jeans and boots, too. Especially leopard boots!

This is my favorite Barefoot Dreams style, it’s a littler shorter with a shawl collar. I’ve gifted it to so many times, and it’s always a fan-favorite. It rarely goes on sale (if ever!), so now’s a great time to grab it.

This soft long cardigan is the lightest of the bunch, making it great for spring and fall (and even cool summer nights!). It has a slight draped collar and comes in several colors.

The cami has a pretty lace trim and adjustable straps, and perfect for layering under cardigans and blazers. It comes in tons of solids and prints.

Tops & Tees //

More cozy fleece, this time in a cute pullover top with front twist giving it a casual front-tuck style. It’s longer in the back and comes in stripes, solids and leopard.

We found a couple of super cute graphic tees with positive messages…this one was an instant favorite. It’s soft and relaxed, with a loose sleeve and longer length.

Jackets //

It’s hard to think about jackets in August, but the day will come!! I knew I’d love this camo jacket, but it was one of our very favorite finds of the day! The camo print is the perfect shades of green and a subtle pattern, with a sport pink sweatshirt removable hood.

There’s even a built-in drawstring to cinch a more defined waist. The material is sturdy, without being stiff.

I was so excited for this North Face jacket, and while I think it’s super cute (I especially love the color combos), it’s a little boxy on me. It’s crazy warm with snap front and a tall neck.

Hello, moto! This suede moto jacket is so luxe and heavy, and impeccably made. The colors are perfect neutrals, and it pairs great with jeans or over dresses.

Of course I have to include my go-to blazer!! Made of thick knit, with a cute contrasting trim and notch collar, it instantly adds chic to my outfits. It comes in a ton of colors now, and is under $50 right now!

Fit Tip: I prefer a shrunken fit, I’m wearing an XS-petite.

Dresses & Pants //

I’ve only found one dress worth sharing so far, but it’s pretty stinking cute!! Wear it now with sandals or later with booties, it’s a great transitional piece in the softest, flowy fabric. It comes in a few patterns, but the leopard is my fave.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS

As for pants, I love the easy fit of these with a wide leg! They have a pull-on style with elastic waist and tie belt, in a soft, flowy fabric that moves beautifully. Wear them now with sandals, or dress them up with heels. They’re so versatile, super flattering, and so comfy!

The leopard blouse is a soft, silky material and comes in sleeveless and long-sleeve.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS top and XS pants, but I’d size down in the pants if you have a small waist.

You’ve heard me rave about these leggings before, but I wanted to give you a closer look now that they’re under $30!! Made of a super-thick Ponte knit, they feel more like pants than leggings…so nothing shows through, and they have good control. The waist is wide and stretchy, and doesn’t dig in or roll down.

Fit Tip: I prefer them ankle length to wear with flats as well as boots, these are an XS-petite.

Denim //

I’ve tried a slew of jeans so far, and Kut From the Kloth and Wit & Wisdom remain my favorite of the bunch! They’re comfortable, flattering, appropriate and well-priced! I reached for these high-waist jeans most, with their dark wash and ankle length, they’re darling with flats and slides. Plus, they wear a little dressier thanks to the rinse and no distressing.

This style has a mid-rise, with a fun exposed hem. There’s just a touch of fading, and a good amount of stretch to make them comfy.

Now it’s time for one of my favorite categories…and where I did the most damage…shoes! I’m really hard on shoes, so I need them every year anyway…might as well get them on sale, am I right?! They’re all super comfortable, and great naturals for all your fall styles. The surprise hits were the leopard booties and pink Nikes, and I can’t wait to wear them. The wedge sneaker and platform slip-on sneakers are insanely comfortable, and I’d wear them to walk for miles!
