Oh happy day!!! The wait is finally over…this year’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale will be LIVE today at 8:30am CST! Granted just a few can shop the Early Access Sale items today (Icon level cardholders), but we can all add to our Wish Lists!

True, it’s a little crazy to think about Fall clothes in the middle of a piping-hot Summer, but here’s the deal…this is not an end-of-season sale! It’s all the cute, NEW stuff coming out next season, but marked down for a short time! Once the Anniversary Sale is over, the prices will go back up (assuming they aren’t sold out).

I tend to look for closet staples and quality pieces that will be the foundation of my wardrobe for years to come. I had the chance to preview several of my top picks, so I’ve seen a lot of what’s available, and I’m here to tell you it’s good!

The NSale can be a little overwhelming (#understatment), so hopefully today’s post is useful in helping you navigate, and focus on the items that will bring the most value to your closet.

I polled you guys on Instagram to see what you’d be shopping most, and cozy loungewear was the overwhelming top response. Fortunately, my friends at Gibson not only delivered, but knocked it out of the park!! I’ve been a fan of their cozy fleece for years, and the new colors and patterns are perfection…starting with this oatmeal leopard!! So crazy cute and chic at the same time, and made of the softest fleece ever!

Even though it’s winter white, it’s not sheer at all…wear it as a set or separates. The top is darling with jeans, and even long enough for leggings. My favorite Ponte knit leggings are back this year, and I promise will not disappoint!

Mama Sugarplum wears the top with jeans all the time, and loves the set for lounging at home. Add a jean jacket and sneakers for around town, too.

Here’s how cute the tunic top is with jeans or leggings…plus a look at some of the new colors! I’ve paired it with my favorite leggings, made of the thickest Ponte knit for no see-thru and lots of support. They’re thick like a pant, and so cute with sneakers, flats or boots.

Mom paired it with her most-worn jean, a boyfriend fit with relaxed legs. She wears them cuffed and long.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XXS top and Mom an XS. I wear an XS-petite in the leggings for ankle length, and Mom a 2 in the jeans.

This new colorblock pullover is a made of the same yummy fleece, and so cute paired with the coordinating joggers…or on it’s own with jeans. It comes in a slew of color combos to match all the jogger options. The pink joggers are a touch sheer, so I’d keep them for home wear. The rest of the colors are opaque and great with sneakers for streetwear.

This henley is an easy-wear…super soft and stretchy, with a waffle weave. Wear it with jeans or joggers, it’s cute and comfy in several colors.

This knit blazer is a favorite around here…you’ve seen me wear it for years! Nothing makes me feel more pulled together than slipping on this chic blazer. I wear it with jeans and a tank, or over a cami with trousers. It’s so flattering and versatile, and a steal at less than $50!! It’s made of a thick stretchy knit, with a cute notch collar and contrasting cuffs. I now have it in FOUR colors!

Hello sass…how cute is this leopard sweater jacket? In the cutest bomber style, it pairs with everything from jeans to pencil skirts. Made of a thick sweater knit material, it’s soft with a brass zipper.

And clearly these slides are a favorite find, since I’ve worn them in almost every combo! Comfy and lightweight, they are the perfect transitional shoe in a great neutral.

It wouldn’t be fall without a Moto jacket…and this one is the right combo of edgy and feminine. Made of a soft faux suede, it’s fully lined with slim shoulders for a flattering fit with jeans or over dresses. It comes in several colors, including this neutral taupe.

As for outerwear, I always grab a Patagonia or North Face while they’re on sale! (This jacket is at the top of my Wish List!) They literally last a lifetime, and the quality for outdoor is unparalleled. I’ve worn both these pieces for years, and can’t speak highly enough about them!

The puffer jacket is super warm, but without any bulk! It even packs in itself, making a perfect compact travel companion. The zip-up is my go-to jacket after workouts or with jeans, and is also really warm without bulk.

EVERYDAY STAPLES FROM THE NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE

Now let’s move on to staples we rely on throughout the year…jeans, boots, undies, bras, basic tees, and beauty products. While there’s still quite a few pieces I need to review in person before determining new faves, I’m thrilled to find so many of my tried-and-true favorites on sale!

Starting with these dark wash jeans, in a comfortable high-rise and ankle length. They are soft and lightweight, with just enough stretch for a perfect fit, but keep their shape. This brand has been a go-to for me for several years, and these are a classic fit for flats, boots and slides.

These Wit & Wisdom are hands-down my favorite black jeans (Mama Sugarplum’s too!). They have the amazing built-in ‘Ab-Solution’ technology that smooths and tucks, and gives a comfortable fit with no digging. They’re the perfect amount of stretch, with a mid-rise.

If you prefer a wider leg, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a more flattering jean than these bootcut! They have a magical way of adding inches to your legs! The mid-rise is comfy, with a dark wash and no distressing. I love them dressed up with heels and a blazer for a night out.

As for basic tees…Mom and I both stock up on this scoop neck pocket tee every year! At only $12, it’s a steal! The perfect amount of bra-friendly scoop, in a soft, washed cotton. The white isn’t sheer at all, and they hold up beautifully in the washer and dryer.

Let’s chat pj’s…Mama Sugarplum is beyond smitten with the Moonlight Pajamas, and grabs a new pair every year during the NSale. She’s already decided it’s pink stripes this year! They’re the softest jersey knit that’s cool to the touch…and comes in long-sleeve HERE, short-sleeve HERE and a shorts set HERE.

My pjs are equally soft, but a bit thinner and more lightweight.

I discovered these True & Co bras early quarantine, and never looked back! I still wear them daily, and never knew a bra could be this comfy! It’s seamless with adjustable and convertible straps, great coverage and support. It’s seamless and great for laying around the house, too.

It now comes in a pretty lacy racerback that’s perfect for all my tanks. The Natori bra has been my go-to for years, if you prefer an underwire.
