Welcome back to another day of Spring Transition style! For the first time in almost eight years, I forgot to hit ‘Publish’ on a blog post, and yesterday’s post went out much later than usual! #bloggerfail So if you’re one of my early-bird readers, make sure you saw this darling pink gingham dress! You can catch up on the whole week of style here.
When creating outfits for a Five Ways series, my goal is to give you options for a little bit of everything…work, weekend, and everything in-between. Today’s casual look has weekend all over it, and is pretty much my Spring uniform. It may be simple jeans and a tee, but the details and accessories are what make it special.
Peplum Tee | Similar Statement Necklace (love this one, too) | High-Waisted Ankle Jeans | Embroidered Sandals | Deer Print Tote (use code SUGARPLUM10 for 10% off!) | Sunglasses | Hoop Earrings (on sale!)
It’s hard not to be happy when you’re comfy, and these jeans are about the comfiest pair I own! The dark rinse, cropped length and high waist keep them in heavy rotation, and since they fit similar to a jegging, I especially love them paired with looser tops.
And this peplum made the cut not just for the super-soft cotton, but for the flattering hem placement. Some peplum can give a maternity vibe (no offense to my pregnant friends, but I’ve been there, done that!), but this one has a lower, drop hem that is fun and flirty…and maybe helps hide your dessert.
Fit Tip: Both the jeans and tee are true to size, and I’m wearing 26 and XS, respectively.
Now let’s talk sandals. I admired the Tory Burch Miller sandals for years before finally making the investment last year. (I bought the ‘Makeup’ shade, a great neutral.) And ohmywow, can I just say I’ve never reached for a pair of shoes more often? They literally go with every single Spring and Summer outfit I put together!!
I honestly could do an entire post around the versatility of these sandals…they go with virtually any style dress for a more casual look, and make even the most laid-back cut-off shorts more chic. Plus, they’re comfy and so easy to walk in all day.
So it’s no surprise I added a new style to my closet this year, and couldn’t resist the deep cognac shade, combined with the darling, colorful embroidery of this pair. (The yellow were a strong contender, too!)
Fit Tip: Size up half for a comfy fit! Also, I find the leather styles more comfortable, but the rubber are great if you want to wear them around water.

The necklace adds a big pop of color, and makes the whole outfit more fun and stylish.

What’s been your favorite look so far this week? I hope I’ve got you excited for Spring and the fun outfits that lie ahead! I’m wrapping up the series tomorrow with the cutest stripes and tassels. And did you notice my go-to hoop earrings are on sale! This never happens, so jump on them if you’re a hoop lover!
So tell me, what’s your easy Spring uniform? And do you own the Miller sandals?! From what I hear, they have a passionate fan club!

I love a good plain t-shirt and jeans look, but a great way to spice it up, like you said, is with accessories! It’s so simple but elevates the outfit completely. You look beautiful, Cassie! 🙂

This is a perfect spring outfit! LOVE those sandals!
Boo! The gingham dress is out of stock! Hopefully they will have more soon.
$198 for a little pair of sandals? Are you crazy? There not even cute!
I think you meant they’re, not there. They are expensive, but you don’t have to be rude!
This is such a fresh, go anywhere look. Nice!
Jenn, that was a kind response. Cassie, I hope you wear the yellow sandals too!! They sure are cute!
Cute, as always! I bought these jeans on your recommendation and am very happy with them. I notice in this post you mention liking them best with looser tops. Would you pair them with your J Crew gingham long sleeved tops? I also wear a 0 in their tops & 26 in these jeans but am 1″ shorter than you.
While I’m asking questions, is this your preferred place for them or would you rather off or slightly off topic be asked via email or somewhere else?
Thank you!!
You inspired my outfit today! I wore the pink gingham top from Banana Republic that you showed a few weeks back with my white jeans and a denim jacket and paired it with the nude version of the Sole Society espadrilles that your mom had on a few weeks back. I probably would have never added a turquoise and pink necklace to add color with seeing all of your color pops! I love your style!
I bought this white top yesterday and the hem along the bottom seems very “loose”. Is this the case with yours, or did I get a bad one? If so, I’ll exchange.
Also, did you take in the bottom portion of the leg of these jeans? I have the same measurements as you, and all of the jeans I’ve purchased seem looser in the lower leg.
Please, share your secret if you are taking them in (or if they just look more fitted from the angle of the pic)?
I ordered these jeans. Honestly, I wasn’t optimistic, but I love them! Thank you. Thank you.
