A few weekends ago, I hauled most of our Christmas decor out, and got a bit of the stink-eye from Mr. SP when I asked him to put the tree up. True, it was reeeeeally early, even for us. But if you follow me on InstaGram, you noticed we went to California last week to spend Thanksgiving with family. It was a glorious week stuffed with love, laughs, food, Disney and beach walks…and not one bit of Christmas. We gave Thanksgiving our full attention.
But you can bet your boots my family was thrilled to come home to a fully-decorated tree this weekend! It immediately put us in the spirit of the holiday, and I spent most of yesterday decking out more of the house. I stuck by my goal of keeping it simple this year, and kept the decor to a few focal spots. Here’s a little peek at the festivities…
Did you know you can scoop up live tree limbs at most every Christmas tree lot? My local Home Depot has a big box and it’s free game. I use the branches in vases and as garland filler on the mantels.
Looks like another colorful Christmas at the Sugarplum Casa! I’m thrilled to take part in Bridget’s ‘Welcome to the Season’ blog hop, and hope you’ll check out the rest of these talented gals for more holiday inspiration! I can’t wait to settle in with my coffee and soak up all the festiveness!
And you didn’t think I’d forget about today being Cyber Monday, did you??!! Did you know today is actually a bigger shopping day than Black Friday? I guess retailers finally realized we’re all begrudgingly back to work, and shopping online…so they hooked us up with even better discounts.
Here are a few of my favorites, and what I’m checking out from each:
Nordstrom // Up to 40% off huge selection of items in all department, plus free shipping.
Furbish // 20% off orders over $75! This is the best sale they’ve ever had!
Did you start your holiday decorating this weekend, or did you put all your energy in to shopping the deals? What‘d you scoop up? I’d love to hear about your best deals and favorite scores!
Every time I see your colorful decor, I want to do it. We used to do a crazy colorful white tree in my mom's sunroom, but we haven't gone as all out lately…I'm thinking I need to go to mom's and spice it up- living vicariously! You're inspiring, as always! 🙂
I am in love with all of the little pops of pink in your Christmas decor. I wish I had gotten my tree and decor up before Thanksgiving, so that I could have enjoyed it during the long weekend. That pom pom garland is too pretty.
I love all of your decorations!!! I was obsessed with the ombre/rainbow tree you did last year. This year is our first year living together and decorating for the holidays. It is hard starting from scratch but this is great inspiration!
Da-da-da-dum! {everybody sing!} Eeeeeevery where we go! Yesterday’s post header with the Sound of Music tune had Emily at Decor Chick accusing me of planting it in her head (mua-ha-ha). But at this point, I’ll do about anything to get Dolly’s ‘Hard Candy Christmas’ out of my head! How can you not love a Christmas diddy that sings of getting drunk on apple wine?! (Anyone know what the heck apple wine is?! And where I can git me some?)
Wow, it’s been a busy two weeks of Christmas projects and decorating around here. Of course I can think of many more things I’d like to do, but I’ve decided to stop for today. I don’t want to miss all the joy of Christmas because of pressures I put on myself. I am ready to savor the Season! Care to join me?
We lucked out with a White Christmas last year…one can only hope it happens again.
Come on over to the Sugarplum House…pass the HalloweenThanksgivingChristmas pumpkins on your way in.
I found these little trees at a nursery several years ago, and have yet to tire of their cuteness.
Keeping with the snowflake theme, I tied glitter flakes to the top of each. A glass bowl of pine cones with sprigs of spruce add to the natural warmth.
Behind you on the bookshelves, you’ll find 3 of my favorite nativity scenes (not quite the set-up as Megan’s beautiful nativity! And don’t you worry, I have big plans for these naked bookcases!).
The glittered NOEL mantel adds so much sparkle to the room, and the kids love to play with the stuffed nativity on the hearth.
Another little tree and some greenery add to the festivities on the tables.
On to the Dining Room, the decor from the Fall Mantel now lives on the piano, and the table is decorated with simple silver candlesticks, berries and greenery.
The kid’s rooms even have a little dose of Christmas decor! They feel so important being included.
The Hand Towels in the Guest Bath are holding up well, and they look so cute with another mini-tree (yeah, I stocked up on them!).
In the Kitchen you’ll find more touches of Christmas. The reindeer tray from Ikea makes me happier than I’d like to admit, and I love gazing out the window past the Fresh Cranberry Wreath.
The Christmas cards are arriving every day now, and my cabinets are filling up nicely. We love seeing all our friends and family on display!
The Den is family central and decorated with a warm and cozy vibe. The stockings are ready for Santa, and Christmas lights in the fireplace add a fun glow. My son kicked in his decorating skills again and filled the wire basket with pine cones, ornaments and shiny beads.
The side tables and coffee table have their own Christmas vignettes.
And at the center of it all, stands the Christmas tree….decorated in all green lights, with a few strands of white star lights, and of course…lots of snowflakes!
Mr. Sugarplum insisted on the all green tree, and I’m surprised at just how much I like it! The rest of the ornaments are pictures of the kids every year, homemade ones from school, and special ones we pick up whenever we travel to a new place. It’s fun to pull these out and remember sweet ‘baby times’ and trips. It makes decorating the tree sentimental.
I’m almost finished with shopping and wrapping, and the Red and White Packages are taunting the kids under the tree (even though they aren’t for them!). Thank goodness for the Advent Calendar Tree to help ease the wait until Christmas!
Well, that wraps the Tour of Sugarplum Casa. I wish I could see all of your homes as well…you’re such a talented bunch that I know they look beautiful!
I’m taking some time off to really focus on family for Christmas, but I have a super exciting line-up you don’t want to miss! I’ll tell you about it soon. Until then…Happy Weekend, friends! I hope it’s full of raindrops on roses and whisker on kittens! 😉
