Hi Sugarplum!

Holiday Collection Makeup & Favorite Lip Colors

October 28, 2019

Okay, we’ve spent the last few days talking about the Gibson x Hi Sugarplum Holiday Collection clothes, so now let’s turn our attention to the other star of the show… the makeup! Specifically in my case… the lipstick! In fact, my lip colors are one of your most frequently asked questions!

And once again, Suzie Moldovan, the award-winning makeup artist I’ve worked with for all our Gibson x Hi Sugarplum Collections, did not disappoint! She found some of the most gorgeous and flattering shades for holiday! Today I’m sharing all the makeup she used to bring the Holiday Collection to life, along with her top lip color picks for the season… and it’s all available at the makeup mecca, Sephora!

She’s seriously amazing, and I never feel prettier than after she’s worked her magic. Let’s start with what she used for the full face!

MAKEUP PRODUCTS USED IN OUR HOLIDAY COLLECTION:

Moisturizer: Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream for face and Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask for lips
Primer:
Benefit Pore-fessional Primer applied with ring finger to T-Zone
Foundation: A blend of four foundations & shades, including Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk (sets with a touch of dew), and Makeup Forever Ultra HD (buildable coverage with a little blur)
Concealer: Too Faced Born This Way Sculpting Concealer in ‘Vanilla’
Blush:
Kosas Cream Blush & Highlighter Duo in ‘Velvet Moon’ set with NARS Blush in ‘Orgasm‘
Bronzer: Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow Contour Duo in ‘Fair/Medium’
Eye Liner / Eyelid: Tarte Sex Kitten Gel Liner in ‘Black,’ smudged with ‘Cozy’ from the Tartelette Toasted Eyeshadow Palette
Eye Liner / Lower: Make Up For Ever Aqua XL Waterproof Eyeliner in ‘Metallic Bronze,’ set with ‘Simmer’ from the Tartelette Toasted Eyeshadow Palette
Waterline Eye Liner: Tarte Fake Awake applied to lower waterline for brightening
Brow Pencil: Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Pencil in ‘Taupe‘
Mascara: Diorshow Waterproof Mascara in ‘Catwalk Black’
Eyeshadow: Laura Mercier Cavia Stick in ‘Cocoa’ on entire lid
Eyeshadow / Crease and Outer Corner:  ‘Sunset’ & ‘Flame’ from the Tartelette Toasted Eyeshadow Palette
Eyeshadow / Inner Corner: ‘S’more’ from the Tartelette Toasted Eyeshadow Palette

Before & after Suzie’s makeup magic! It’s quite the transformation, right?!

Lips always come last since the color depends on each outfit. Suzie has over 100 lip colors in her kit, and we take choosing the best ones very seriously!! Sometimes she matches the clothes, and other times she chooses an accessory…but it always has a way of completing the look.

This is her ‘Cassie‘ tray…all the best pinks and reds! Since she applies lip color with a brush, transferring each product from the tube to the tray allows her to see them all at one glance. Plus, it’s more compact for packing up.

For our ‘Red Looks,’ Suzie rotated between Kosas Weightless Lip in ‘Electra,’ which has a touch of coral undertone and paired beautifully with the red satin of the Holiday Collection. NARS Velvet Matte Lipstick Pencil in ‘Dragon Girl‘ has more blue undertones, and was gorgeous with the red velvet. Bite Beauty’s Crystal Creme Shimmer Lip Crayon in ‘Cherry on Top‘ was a fun finishing layer that added a touch of holiday shimmer.

It wouldn’t be Sugarplum Style without a bright pink, so Suzie rotated between NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in ‘Let’s Go Crazy,’ and YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick in the bold ‘Fuchsia #19.’

As for nails, I went with Deborah Lippmann Gel Lab Pro in ‘It’s Raining Men‘ , and it was perfect for every combo.

I never have to worry about looking my best when Suzie’s on set! In fact, I go all day without checking a mirror because I know she’s got me covered!

Of course I had to have all these colors for myself, so I headed straight to Sephora when we got home (I’m always trying to increase my Insider points!)! Are you a bold lip girl, or do you prefer to keep it neutral? I got my love of bright lips from my grandmother, she always told me to ‘Put your lips on!’ I think it just instantly brightens your face and smile.

I hope this post was helpful and answered all your makeup questions pertaining to the Holiday shoot (see behind-the-scenes of the photoshoot here)! Feel free to leave any others, or requests for future beauty posts! And find the entire Gibson x Hi Sugarplum Holiday Collection here.

I would love to know what she recommends for makeup removal. If I actually take the time to do my makeup, my makeup wipes just never seem to actually get all the makeup off.

Such a nice balance between eyes and lips.
I want that “Cassie tray” kit of lip color!
How does Suzie get all her make-up on a plane?

Looking forward to trying Dragon Girl!💄
I’m your last post with Suzie, she said if she was stranded on a deserted island she would definitely have her eyelash curler with her. If possible, can you find out which eyelash curler she likes? I cannot find a decent one😩 and would love some advice. Thanks!

Loved all the lipstick colors but wondering how you keep them from smudging or feathering? Any tips? Do you use a lip liner?

She lines my lips with the lip color itself…and it does feather some, we just had frequent touch-ups!

PS Does anyone else see a jack-o-lantern type smiley face on the black top in the the black on black outfit combo?
