Easy Summer Makeup & My Go-To Lip Colors

Happy Wednesday, friends… how’s your week going so far? We had a rare ‘cool’ front for the last couple of days, and the break from our typical Texas heat was much needed! We actually ate dinner on the patio without melting.

Today we’re talking beauty, and I’m sharing the easy summer makeup I used for our ‘Celebrate Summer’ Collection shoot, along with the lip colors I’ve been wearing all season… and it’s all available at Nordstrom!

You know Suzie Moldavon is my go-to makeup guru, and she put together this easy-to-follow face chart for a gorgeous summer look that’s simple to create with a handful of key products.

Most I already had on hand, or was able to quickly grab from Nordstrom (I’ve been using their contactless curbside pick-up, but they still offer fast, free shipping, too.)

To create the eye, I applied Laura Mercier eyeshadow stick in ‘Rose Gold’ to my lids, and the NARS bronzer in ‘Laguna’ to the outer edges, then followed with a little Charlotte Tilbury setting powder to prevent creasing. I finished with lots of mascara (I’ve been using NeuLash Serum to grow long, thick natural lashes for years.)

The Laura Mercier stick is a new addition for me, and I love it!!! So easy to apply, it goes on creamy but sets well and stays put. I’ve been wearing just ‘Rose Gold‘ on its own as my everyday look, and love to add ‘Amethyst‘ for a little added drama.

The Too Faced Born This Way concealer provides great coverage and brightening, and is super hydrating so I don’t get that crepey look under my eyes. And to combat the heat, I sprayed my whole face with Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray. It really locks everything in… even in a Texas summer!

This new Anastasia Brow Kit is a great buy, and everything you need for perfect brows. I pencil in my shape, then set them with the clear gel.

Up next is my favorite part… the lips! This is what really brightens my face, ties to the outfit, and really makes it all come to life. Suzie studied the design boards and chose the best shades to complement the Collection, and all are gorgeous shades every lipstick junkie needs!

NARS ‘Juliette’ | Charlotte Tilbury ‘Bosworth’s Beauty’ | NARS ‘Yu’ | Mac ‘Shocking Revelation’

I prefer creamy, pigmented formulas, and these are all favorites for me.

NARS ‘Juliette’ // The Coral

This formula is satiny-soft and glides on smoothly with a matte finish. The shade is the perfect pinky-coral with warm undertones, and is also beautiful layered with darker pinks.

NARS ‘Yu’ // The Bold Pink

This has been my go-to pink for years! If I’m wearing a pink lip, chances are it’s ‘Yu’! It’s a chubby pencil that requires occasional sharpening (I use this one), and glides on smoothly with a satin finish. It’s highly-pigmented and has all-day staying power.

Mac ‘Shocking Revelation’ // The Red

I discovered this shade last year, and it’s the only red I wear. I love the powdery finish and staying power… plus, it has a way of adapting to both red and pink hues! It’s a stunning shade that looks amazing on every skin tone… a definite must-have for your makeup bag!

Fun Fact, I’m so obsessed with this perfect pinky-red, we used it to create the ‘Rossa’ color way in our last two Collections, so it’s an exact match!

Charlotte Tilbury ‘Bosworth’s Beauty’ // The Soft Pink

If you’re a pink girl, but like to keep it a little more subtle, ‘Bosworth’s Beauty‘ is for you! It’s a soft pink that’s not too sweet or bubble gum, and can be layered with darker pinks for more punch. The formula is extra-creamy and feels so good on.

Of course I had to have all these lip colors for myself, so I headed straight to Nordstrom to stock up, and have been wearing them all on repeat. Are you a bold lip girl, or do you prefer to keep it neutral?

I got my love of bright lips from my grandmother, she always told me to ‘Put your lips on!’ I think it just instantly brightens your face and smile. I think all of these shades would be favorites for her.

Love all these lip shades! I’m a sucker for a bright lip in the summer too, but I can never make it last. I tend to favor glosses bc regular lipstick drys my already chapped lips. But glosses never last more than a few minutes! Any tips?

I sometimes add a touch of the Laneige Lip mask over my lipstick. but I mostly choose satin formulas that don’t dry my lips like a matte does.
