Summer of Style | Chambray Skirt Two Ways

Happy Monday, friends, and welcome back to a new week! How was your holiday weekend? We spent a few days at the lake celebrating our son’s birthday, and unplugging a bit. I can’t believe I have a 19-year-old!!

I remember watching the fireworks from my hospital room, while holding my little swaddled nugget, like it was yesterday! That sweet boy with the fast smile made me a mom, and has brought more joy to my life than I knew possible. It’s so cliche, I know, but so true… the days are long (so very long!), but man those years absolutely fly!

Today I’ve got another fun Summer of Style for you, featuring a darling chambray skirt… that just so happens to be 50% off today! It’s such a great staple piece for Spring and Summer, and I’m styling it two ways to give you some ideas.

The skirt is so lightweight in the softest cotton, with a button-front and flattering a-line shape. The neutral shade makes it perfect for pairing with most any top, but especially fresh with light colors. I prefer to balance the volume of the skirt with a fitted top for that classic fit-and-flare shape.

Talbots offers a full range of regular and petite sizing, and I find them true-to-size. The skirts and dresses are always a modest length.

Fit Tip: I’m 5’4″ and wearing a 2-petite.

The shirt is a crisp cotton poplin, and truly no-wrinkle!! Even on the hottest day, it needs no iron! It comes in a range of colors, and the white has no sheerness. It’s also a great length with a finished hem if you want to wear it untucked with pants or shorts.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a 2-petite shirt.

I shot the skirt with the buttons going down the front, but discovered later it’s actually cuter with them off-center!

The clutch is a fun stripe with beaded and embroidered detail… and yep, it’s 50% off, too!

For a second, more casual look, I paired the easy skirt with a fun graphic tee and flat sandals. It’s the perfect weight and style for hot days!

Aren’t these colors so fun? I love the raised embroidery, and the cotton is soft and lightweight. The neck is a little wider than a true crewneck, but still bra-friendly.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS

This clutch is a great size for all your essentials, and even has a detachable chain strap for wearing hands-free. The neutral colors and stripes pair perfectly with all your summer styles, from shorts to dresses. And yep, 50% off plus free shipping today!

So tell me… are you more of a shorts or skirts girl in the summer? I wear both, but lean towards easy, lightweight skirts like these whenever possible.

Luv your fireworks from the hospital room story-so special!
This skirt would look so good w/a black T and black sandals.
Thanks for the heads up on their sale today. Looks like I’ll be on the Talbots sight for a while.

I wear both skirts and shorts, but my true summer weaknesses are 1. Rompers, 2. Maxi dresses! I feel like I’m wearing the least amount of clothing as possible in this TX heat with those 2 pieces, Lol! These clutches are amazing; I didn’t even realize Talbot’s had purses!

Very cute! Even though I am a petite 70 yr. old with pretty good legs, I never go out wearing shorts out except on rare occasions. I never have. I sometimes wear a summer dress with my Chuck Taylors, girlfriend jeans or lightweight slim fitting knit pants, all from Talbots. My daughter always wears a dress with sandals. With two very young daughters she finds it easier to just slip into a dress and go. She’s a wise shopper and adds a few summer dresses to her wardrobe every year. She adds a bit of fun by usually wearing a head wrap or hair band.
