Dressing Room Diaries

Happy Friday, friends, and cheers to the weekend! This week absolutely flew by, between prepping for our GxHSP Summer Collection launch, and our impending house project, the week was gone in a flash.

You may recall our kitchen flooded from the burst pipes during the crazy Texas storm in February… well now that school is out, it’s time to address the repairs. We have to move out for a month or so to replace all the downstairs floors and baseboards, so I’ve been staring at 87 floor samples all week! Choosing new floors is a lot of pressure!! I’ll be sure to share the finished space here later this summer, but you can follow all the real-time progress in my Instagram Story HERE.

Today I’ve got an all new Dressing Room Diaries, chock full of the cutest new arrivals for Summer! It’s a mix of retailers from Nordstrom to Target… but I don’t want you to judge the shirt by its label, so they’re all mixed in! My job is to find the cutest things, at the best prices, and I think you’ll love these!

You know the drill with Dressing Room Diaries… the shots aren’t good, the lighting is bad, and I’m in desperate need of a hairbrush. But it’s real life, real girl, real clothes… and hopefully helpful for you to see them this way, instead of perfectly styled on a model. So let’s get started!

Fit Note: I’m 5’4″-ish, 125 pounds-ish, with a slight pear shape. My usual size is XS/2. 

Tops //

I love a good embroidered top in Summer, and this peasant style is giving me all the Anthropologie vibes, but at Old Navy prices! Made of a soft, gauzy cotton, it has full sleeves and a swingy shape, with the cutest scallop trim. I love the punch of coral against the white… so cute with shorts or jeans.

Fit Tip: I always size up one at Old Navy, but this is a relaxed fit, so I’m in an XS

Another surprise find, this square neck top is a linen/rayon blend, for a lightweight and breezy fit (but it’s not sheer). I love the crisp blue & white stripes and longer sleeves.

As for the jeans, you know I love Liverpool white denim for their thick material with good stretch and no see-thru! This mid-rise style is a great find, with a flattering and comfortable fit. I simply roll the hem under to fit whatever shoe I happen to be wearing.

Fit Tip: I always size up one at Old Navy, but this is a relaxed fit, so I’m in an XS. The jeans are true, I’m in a 2/26.

Clearly I’m having a moment with loose swing tops! I love this one for the fresh peach color, but also the soft cotton and breezy fit. It has a drop shoulder with an easy flutter sleeve and the cutest cut-out in the back.

A classic cotton/linen shirt, these blue and white stripes are so fresh for Summer. I love the drop shoulder with feminine gathers and the cuffed sleeve. It’s a relaxed fit, with a high-low hem that covers the bum.

Fit Tip: It’s an oversized fit, I’m in an XS, but would size down if in-between.

I wore this tank in my Instagram Story earlier this week, and the link requests came pouring in!! So simple, yet so stylish and flattering! I love the ribbed texture and henley style. It has a slight racerback shape and a cropped length. It comes in several colors and is only $12!

Henleys are such a classic shape and flattering on every bust line. I love the relaxed fit of this drop shoulder tee. It’s lightweight with a gauzy fit (thanks to a touch of linen!), and comes in great colors and stripes.

Shorts & Skirts //

Remember the linen shorts from our GxHSP Summer Collection a few years ago? This updated style still has the comfy pull-on elastic waist, but now with a drawstring and cute patch pockets! They’re a classic linen, but with just enough rayon for a flowy fit and to keep them from getting too wrinkly! They’re also a great, slightly longer inseam.

Have you seen the Farm Rio brand before?! It’s a new find for me, and I’m completely smitten! The price points are on the higher side, but they make the most adorable patterns and color combos, especially for Summer. (Find tons of styles HERE).

This striped skirt is a pull-on style with elastic waist, in a cotton blend with great movement and lightness. It’s fully lined to the knee.

The lemon skirt is a silky satin fabric, with a side zipper and fluttered hemline. Both could easily be dressed up or down.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS in both skirts, but need to size up in the lemons for more room in the waist. The stripes are elastic so the fit is good.

You know I love my Agolde shorts (I’m wearing them in half this post!!), but I’ve also been getting a ton of wear from these high-rise cut-offs with longer inseam!

Dresses //

If you follow my Instagram Stories, then you’ve seen this gorgeous embroidered dress because I wore it to a wedding a few weeks ago. It was an afternoon wedding, and this navy was perfect! I love the fit-and-flare shape with lace overlay for more style and ‘dressed-up factor.’ It has a nice V in the front and back, but is still bra-friendly.

I did a twirl the moment I slipped this wrap dress on… which, as you know, is the indicator of love-at-first-sight! Not only is the pattern just too cute, but it feels like a dream in a silky soft and stretchy jersey knit. I love the longer sleeve and petite collar, and it’s easily dressed up or down depending on your shoe and accessories.

This dress is classic meets sassy, and is perfect for just about any wedding or event year-round! Made of a thick and sturdy crepe, it has a classic fit-and-flare shape with a knee-grazing length, but an extra-low V for just enough sex appeal. It comes in a range of colors, and of course we love the pockets!

Fit Tip: It runs small, I sized up to a small and it’s snug! The good part is it’s thick and fitted enough to skip a bra for many.

Palm Beach called and said your dress is perfection!! Seriously though, how darling is this graphic green print?! This jersey maxi has a ton of stretch, with a flattering twist front and back tie. I’d actually remove the tie and let the dress fall in the back for a more streamlined shape.

I need a party STAT, because this dress is giving me all the dancing vibes! I adore the bold red and cobalt combo and fluttery asymmetrical hem. It’s a lightweight woven material, fully lined with a side zip, and with adjustable ties on the straps. Dress it up with strappy heels or keep it cool with flats, it feels amazing on, and is a great designer option for less!

I’ve got a handful of fun and affordable swim styles, starting with these leopard cuties. The print and styles are straight out of J.Crew, but for a fraction of the price. The tops are lined with removable cups and good support. The bottoms have full coverage, too.
