Beauty Files | Summer Beauty Faves

Hello, hello! I hope you’re having a great week so far! We had major progress with the house repairs… the flooring was delivered yesterday!! After much deliberation, we chose a white oak, which is significantly lighter than the dark wood we had before… and I can hardly wait to see it installed!! The walls have all been painted, too, and the difference is mind-blowing! (See the progress so far HERE.)

We’ve been going back-and-forth several times a week living at a hotel and the lakehouse, so I’ve basically been living out of a small weekender bag. Which means my toiletries are pared way down! It’s all fine by me as I prefer a more minimal beauty routine for summer anyway.

But there are a handful of things that I never leave without, and a few new summer beauty finds you might love, as well! So today I’m sharing my Summer Beauty Haul, all available with fast and free shipping from Nordstrom. Not to mention… free returns, which is especially great when you’re testing out makeup colors!

Olaplex No. 6 Bond Smoother + Olaplex No.7 Bonding Oil //

I think we all know my love affair with Olaplex by now (my entire routine is HERE), but I’m especially hooked on this duo for summertime! Just a pea-sized amount of No. 6 mixed with a few drops of No. 7 is the dream team combo that actually allows my hair to air dry without crazy frizz! Between the steamy Texas weather and frequent dips in the pool and lake, I wash my hair almost daily during the summer, so steering clear of heat when possible is key for me.

I also make sure to treat it with the No. 3 Hair Perfector mask at least once a week to keep it strong and healthy!

Ultimate Detangler Hair Brush //

My daughter actually discovered this brush, and she said it’s even better than a Wet Brush on tangled hair! It’s super lightweight, and designed specifically for use in the shower and on wet hair… gliding through tangles without pulling, tugging, or snagging hair.

She uses it in the shower to comb through conditioner, then again after towel-drying. It’s even great tossed in a beach or pool bag for smoothing out tangled hair after swimming. The all-plastic design is easy to keep clean and dries quickly.

First Aid Beauty Bump Eraser Body Scrub //

If you’ve dealt with KP bumps before, then you’ve likely tried a range of products! This First Aid Beauty Bump Eraser Body Scrub is the best we’ve tried, and within a few uses, it cleared up not only those irritating little red bumps, but also hormone-induced back acne!

It’s a super-fine exfoliating scrub, that also contains 10% glycolic and lactic acids, to loosen the skin’s top layer and decongest pores. Concentrate on just the affected areas, then pat dry and follow with a moisturizer. It’s powerful, so just a few times per week will do the trick.

When it comes to makeup, my summer routine is minimal, but these are products I reach for regularly for a little extra glow. And Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder is perfect for taming the shine that comes with Summer heat! I just dust it over my t-zone to combat oil throughout the day.

NARS The Multiple Stick //

The newest addition to my makeup routine, and it’s so perfect for summer! This multi-purpose stick adds a touch of shimmer and color to eyes, cheeks, and lips. I swipe ‘Riviera’ across the apples of my cheeks and eyelids for a natural and pretty flush that has good staying power.

The all-in-one application makes for a smaller makeup bag, too… perfect for packing!

Tan-Luxe THE FACE Illuminating Self-Tan Drops //

I spend a lot of time outdoors, but my face never sees the sun! To keep it from looking drastically different from my body, I add a drop or two of these Tan-Luxe THE FACE Illuminating Self-Tan Drops to my morning moisturizer for a natural-looking, safe tan.

St. Tropez Self-Tan Express Bronzing Mousse //

No surprise on this product, it’s my self-tanner of choice for the last few years! (See my tips for a natural self-tan at home HERE). I use this rapid formula to even out tan lines, and get an all-over natural tan in just a few hours! I always shower it off before bed, but if you do sleep in it, it’s one of the few formulas that actually washes out of your sheets.

I may be able to simplify my summer makeup routine to just NARS The Multiple Stick and mascara, but I never skip the lip! And the brighter and pinker the better! Suzie chose three gorgeous shades we used for the entire Summer of Fun Collection, and I’ve been wearing them on repeat.

Great products – I have been using up a lot of products and not replacing them, instead using a core group of favorites to keep it simple. I’m glad to hear that your home is being repaired from last winter’s harsh weather. We have never experienced anything like what you went through. We do get the occasional snow storm, but it’s kind of nice to stay home by the fire and enjoy the beauty outside. I was wondering how you will prepare for the next inevitable storm. With climate change it’s to be expected. There are some areas near us where power failures tend to occur, people have whole house generators that kick on automatically when there is a power failure. An initial expense, but less expensive and frustrating than having a home get damaged. I don’t know if it would work in your area. Just a thought.

Hi Lyn! I think we will definitely be looking into a generator… but am not sure if that’s feasible in our area. I really hope ERCOT (The company that operates Texas’ electrical grids) figures their stuff out before next winter! xo, C

And….the St. Tropez Self Tan Express Mousse has no scent! Unlike their In Shower Lotion-eek! Thanks for the recommendation. : )
Girl’s faith must be strong w/all the stuff you’ve been thru the past year.

Do you experience any color bleed or feathering outside the lipline with the Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks? I’ve worn bold colors before only to be horrified later in the day when I see they’ve traveled outside the lines!
