Sugarplum Style, Vol. 8

Happiest of Fridays, friends! I can not thank you enough for all your enthusiasm and well-wishes for our new house and the magazine shoot. We are so excited, and a little crazed, with everything going on…and wowza are they going fast! We’ve got projects and inspections on our current house, and demo starting on the new house. Once again, our rockstar-contractor is moving faster than I can document, but I’m doing my best to take lots of pictures so I can share the process with you guys here. It’s easy to post the daily progress on InstaGram, so feel free to follow along there, too.

And I haven’t forgotten all the projects I’ve yet to reveal…like the Big Box Bathroom remodel, and Master Bedroom makeover…that’s all coming up soon! But today I’m taking a break from houses, and dishing on the latest round of Sugarplum Style.

It’s evident in my outfits that life was crazy the last three weeks, since I kept my wardrobe choices simple by reaching for the same pieces over and over. I stuck with a layering formula of shirt/sweater/vest…that helped streamline my morning routine, so I could get out the door quickly.

I shared this sweater with you guys last Spring before it sold out…but lucky for you it’s restocked. This one is really cute, too, and currently 60% off.

Pink Puffer (similar) | Fair Isle Sweater | Pink Gingham Shirt (similar)
For my return to work after the winter break, I dressed up the fair isle with a skirt and leopard. The vest popped up on Groop Dealz this week, and people on my Facebook page were able to scoop it up before it sold out again. #hint
I learned the hard way you must be careful when going to the bathroom while wearing a poncho, but it’s totally worth it. I’m now a poncho convert. Here’s a similar one in black.
We had a belated New Years celebration with family, and I made my outfit a bit more festive with a red scarf and lips.
Black Sweater | Black Gingham Shirt (similar) | Tartan Plaid Scarf
Not a week goes by that I don’t wear my soft-as-kittens cardi wrap. I finally caved and got another color. I may or may not be wearing it with my pajamas at night, too. #itotallyam

Another day, another plaid + puffer combo.

Red Puffer Vest (similar) | Plaid Top (similar) | Distressed Jeans
Oh hey black vest, good to see you again. And again. But when you mix up your pairings, the items feel new every time.
Black Jeggings | Booties | Watch | Bracelet

My look-for-less rainboots were one of my wisest purchases this season…I honestly had no idea how often they’d come in handy. Plus, it changes your entire outlook on rainy days when you get to pull on pink rainboots.

Apparently this was the month of the fair isle. You won’t catch me complaining…or apologizing!
Cream Puffer Vest (similar) | Fair Isle Sweater | Black Gingham Top (similar)
The key isn’t to have more clothes, but to mix up what you do have in
new and different ways. I hope these posts inspire new combinations from
your closet!

You can catch up with past installments of Sugarplum Style here, or follow my everyday-style outfits on InstaGram. Make sure you’re following my Facebook page, too…that’s where I post deals, steals, sales and goodies! Happy weekend, lovebugs!

  2. Love the fair isle, leopard and plaid! You have an eye for style! I'm in the market for a new pair of jeans. Many of the reviews for the Vigoss suggest ordering down a size because they run big. Did you find that to be true? Thanks!

  7. Cool! Congratulations on your new house! That is more than a welcoming surprise. It's among the best you can ever win for yourself. Or at least it's way up there among the stuff to attain. The only thing you need for now is for it to be covered well enough for any eventualities, damages or decay, but you have all the time in the world to eventually get around to that. In any case, I hope you enjoy the next 12 months ahead and more! All the best!

Hi. I am a viewer from Australia, your sugarplum style posts are my favorite. I wanted to know what color your Kendra Scott necklace is? Sea foam or chalcedony? Thx!
