Well that was the fastest weekend ever! Why do they have to blow by so quickly?! We spent the whole time purging and packing the contents of the attic…a lot of crappola got stashed up there over the last 10 years! It looked like an episode of Hoarders. But even though we can’t move until after the shoot, we’re trying to get everything cleaned out and organized now, so the packing goes quickly when the time comes.
We worked feverishly over last month preparing our house to put on the market, and now we’re finishing up all the room makeovers. And I tell you what…nothing gets you moving faster than realizing you have to sell your house, and a magazine is coming! One of those rooms we had to kick in to high gear was the Master Bedroom. Because remember, I’d sold everything on Craigslist, and we’d been sleeping with the mattresses on the floor for weeks. All we lacked was a beer can pyramid and cinder-block side tables, and it was a straight up bachelor pad. #pagingfarmerchris Not exactly show-ready!
The deadline turned out to be a good thing, since it didn’t allow me my usual freedom of mulling over decisions for too long, and we’re no longer sleeping on the floor!

The room is mostly done now, but I still want to show you the steps of how it came to be, and give you a review of the bed. These pics aren’t super styled…just quick progress shots I snapped during the chaos.
I searched high-and-low for an upholstered bed, that was both high-quality and affordable. And because of the pitched ceilings, I wanted the headboard as tall as possible. I kept coming back to the beds on Joss & Main, but was scared to make such a big purchase online…especially sight unseen. But I finally pushed the button, and the Halifax bed arrived at our doorstep within days, and we could not be happier with it!

It took two of us, but the assembly was simple and went fairly quickly. It’s a King size, but the base and frame is really sturdy. The headboard piece is attached, but because of the height, it will wiggle if you shake it.

The Talc-color upholstery is a great quality linen, and it’s wrapped tightly around firm foam padding. The nailheads are all placed individually, not a strip.

Next step is to cover those naked windows!

But we’ve come pretty far already, since we started with this….
It’s amazing what a huge difference the lighter bed and linens made to the room.

What’s the biggest purchase you’ve made online? Even though we got such a great deal, this definitely qualifies as mine! Although, we made enough selling our old stuff to cover the new bed! #score
