Sugarplum Style, Vol. 51

Hey friends, how was your weekend? Ours was a mixture of active and lazy, and chock-full of family time…so basically perfect! I spent the better part of yesterday afternoon purging our closets to donate for Hurricane Relief. It was a lot easier letting go of things we still love, but don’t really need, knowing they were going to such a great place.

A lot of you have reached out to inquire about our beloved Anna Maria Island, and from what I’ve heard, they escaped mostly unscathed! I think we may need to plan a return visit to see for ourselves! I emailed our friend who owns this stunning home in Vieques, Puerto Rico, and she too, said all was well (see our Vieques Trip Report here)! Sadly, another of our island favorites, St. John, was not so lucky. It’s almost impossible to comprehend the devastation, and I can only pray our donations and contributions are helping in some small way.

Today it’s time for another round of Sugarplum Style, snapshots of my everyday outfits I share on Instagram and Facebook, created by mixing and matching items in my closet. My hope is that they inspire you to stretch your wardrobe further by mixing up what you already have, and thoughtfully add new things.

And friends, the weather has been a mixed bag of Summer, and wanna-be Fall…so the outfits are all over the place, starting with this peplum tee and sandal combo (pretty much the same from last week’s Transitioning to Fall series!). The bright tassel necklace makes it more Summery, as do the sandals, but the long-sleeve tee was perfect for the cooler morning. I’ll have to retire the pineapple bag for the season soon, so I’m carrying it as much as possible until then!

Peplum Tee (short sleeve version) | Tassel Necklace | Jeans | Sandals | Monogrammed Bag | Sunglasses | Earrings

I’m loving this Flashdance vibe and not even embarrassed about it! Should I be?! It’s so casual, but with a touch of sass. I love the banded waist for creating a drapey fit, and not just overly slouchy.

Off-the-Shoulder Sweatshirt | Bra | Cut-off Shorts | Sneakers | Hoop Earrings

I really can not get enough of this dress…it’s been perfect for date night, work meetings, and even a school event. I’ve since added two more colors, so hopefully you’re not sick of seeing it yet!

Sheath Dress | (Similar booties) | Clutch | Statement Ring c/o | Sunglasses | Earrings | Heart Beat Necklace c/o

Stripes are my favorite outfit base because they’re so fun paired with larger patterns like floral and leopard. This combo will be a Fall uniform, for sure. And that scarf is lightweight and gauzy (not at all bulky), and under $25!

Striped Tee (tunic version) | Leopard Scarf (similar) | Jeans | Booties | Hoop Earrings | Bracelet

A casual date night out in my fave denim skirt, and kicked up a notch with a one-shoulder ruffle and statement earrings. I’ll continue to wear both these pieces into the next season, but pair the top with jeans, and the skirt with a long-sleeve shirt or sweater.

One-Shoulder Ruffle Top | Denim Skirt | Sandals | Clutch | Earrings

This workwear style was a popular look from the Summer, but the skirt easily works for both Fall and Winter, and it’s on super sale!

Flutter Sleeve Sweater | Graphic Skirt | Fringe Sandals | Bag | Earrings

Saying goodbye to Summer with this darling smocked top and red sunnies…these white cut-offs were my go-tos this Summer. I think I’ll hang on to them as long as possible, pairing them with sweatshirts!

Smocked Top | Cut-Off Shorts | Sandals | Sunglasses

I get asked about what to wear for casual gatherings and weekend sporting events…well, you’re looking at it! The Shoreline sneakers are my favorite casual shoe for sporty styles, and I love finding casual tops in team colors.

Fit Tip: I sized down half in my sneakers, and use this solution to keep them white. Can you believe this is the same pair I’ve had for two years?!

Striped Tee | Jeans | Bag | Bag Charm | Sneakers

The easiest way to take an outfit from basic to next level…statement earrings! Plus, they’re serious compliment magnets!

Striped Flutter Sleeve Top | Jeans | Monogrammed Bag | Sandals | Earrings

This tassel necklace never gets old and makes most every top cuter! And these sandals were my fave purchase of the season…they go with absolutely everything!!

Striped Tee | Tassel Necklace | Sandals | Cut-Off Shorts

The best part of my day is when I come home and get to slip into this snuggly cardigan!! Even better will be when it cools off and I can wear it outside my air-conditioned house!

Hooded Cardigan (similar no hood) | Fave Tee | Shorts | Heart Beat Necklace | Interlocking Loop Ring

Transitioned my simple date night a more Fall appropriate look with the addition of peep-toe booties…and the earrings made it sassy and fun.

Camisole | Earrings | Jeans | Similar Booties | Clutch

Oh look, here’s the crepe shirtdress again, but in navy! I wore this look to a meeting, then out to dinner and felt perfectly comfortable and pulled-together.

I love all of these outfits! We have similar weather in San Diego and I frequently find myself in shorts and sweaters through October. Have you tried hand washing the sheath dress? I saw it at Nordstrom this weekend and my inner cheapskate wonders if “dry clean only” is just a guidance 🙂 It looks like the perfect wear-anywhere dress!

I am wondering the same thing about the dry cleaning! I bought it, and didn’t realize it was dry clean only until I got it! I’m wondering if anyone has washed it- because I def don’t have time to be dry cleaning a dress I plan to wear a lot! 😂

Ha! Agreed! I just wash it in a delicates bag on the delicate cycle, then hang dry. It does require a steam after!

Hello from Siesta Key from another Cassie! Things here look fine – a few big trees down here and there but the water was not an issue on beach/canals FYI
We just bought our house in August so it was a nail biter for sure – we watched it on the news like everyone else but had a few contacts here to help secure the outside stuff for us
Love your blog : ) Love the fashion and the pics of your sweet kiddos : )

Just devastating what happened to the folks in the Caribbean and Florida. We were mid-Cuba cruise when it was cut short and we had to scramble to get an early flight home. None were to be found in FL so we spent 19 hours straight, driving to Atlanta for a flight – that’s a marriage tester if there ever was one! It was very stressful, but I can’t imagine having to leave your home and the anxiety of not knowing how it will be when you return.

When you first showed that amazing black dress, I immediately bought it, but it was not meant to be. I got an XS and while it fit great, the fabric felt scratchy, so I thought maybe getting a Small, with it being looser, would not feel so itchy. Sadly, not. So bummed as it is the PERFECT dress (length, neckline, sleeve length – all a 10 in my book). I wonder if I’m the only person that feels that way as every review I read, from blogger to buyer, just adore it!
