Hey there, friends, and happy Monday. I hope your weekend was grand. If you follow me on InstaGram, then you saw the beginnings of a new project around here. And let me tell you, it’s a big ‘un! I’ll share the details with you later this week. #getexcited
I’ve gushed to you guys twice this year about our love of Vieques, a rustic and picturesque island in Puerto Rico. I’ve shown you the beaches, and shared the 25 things I learned during a long stay, but a huge part of our draw to this place is the house we rent there. Exploring the hidden beaches all day is amazing, but waking up in this peaceful haven just makes the island that much more idyllic. I’m hesitant to show too much of the island and this house because I want to keep it our little secret, but it’s just too good not to share. Prepare for picture overload.
The owners spent two years building this 3-story, 3,000-square foot home set in a hillside neighborhood. Porches and balconies circle the entire home, with views of the nature preserve, and ocean beyond. Large doors and windows open wide allowing tradewinds to blow through. With no TV, the only sounds are Bob Marley on the stereo, and horses clipping by. And now I’m choked-up.
Every wall is painted bright white, allowing the beautiful woods, colorful floor tiles, and ethnic textiles to take center stage.
Never have I seen a home where so much thought and care was put in to every design choice and detail.
The house blends seamlessly with the island setting, and the yard and grounds feel like an extension of it, with quiet nooks everywhere.
My favorites are the colorful tiles and textiles…and of course the views. What do you love most? More details and rental information can be found here. And if you have any questions about the decor of the house, leave them in the comments and I can ask the owners…they are the nicest (luckiest) people!!
OH MY WORD at the gorgeousness!!!!! WOW!!!!!
cassie! thank u so much for sharing! we will be going here one day – its price per night is less than we are paying for a condo in destin the summer of 15. I fell in luv with PR when hubby and I went abt 5 yrs ago, I said then I would take my cor back one day! we stayed at a resort with beaches on one side and jungle/mountain views on the other. the rain forest was amazing. Those tiles are killing me!! We are doing some major rennovations to our little Vieques shack and I was possibly wanting funky tile in my kitchen and bathroom – your post totally sold me on this idea now.
I can't believe you just bought a house there….what a dream come true!!! Congrats! And Yes….the tiles are stunning!
For sure a dream come true and thanks to your instagram I got in contact with the guys that did the tile (out of the DR) and they are now going to work on our house! Love social media
AMAZING!!!! So glad you were able to make the connection…your house is going to be stunning!
Do you have the info for the owners of this home? I wanted to ask them where they got the kitchen and bathroom fixtures (the faucets) as we want something similar and struggling to find. Also curious to hear who they used to install the tiles. Thanks!
Hi Melissa — you can email the owner directly through the VRBO link above. Hope this helps!
Cassie for some reason whenever I try to click on that link it never works?
that's odd….both of them work for me? They take you directly to her VRBO page. Here it is again:

if that doesn't work, search VRBO by the listing number: 3483798ha
