Sugarplum Style, Vol. 23

Cheers to Friday! It’s been a fun, productive week, but I’m ready for the slower pace of the weekend. Between all the stops for tacos, Jen and I have been busy-bees on the Office/Craft Closet, and hopefully I’ll have pics for you next week. I can’t believe how dreamy a closet of paint and scissors can be!

Sidenote: The big Elfa sale ends soon (Feb 15, I think), so don’t miss it if you’ve been planning organizing projects of your own!

Today it’s time for another Sugarplum Style…snapshots of my everyday outfits, created by mixing-and-matching items in my closet. And thanks to our sporadic weather, it’s a mixed bag of layers.

This peacoat and leopard scarf are on constant repeat around here…it’s just so easy, and make virtually anything look good! In fact, you’d never know I’m wearing my pajama top! 😉

Fit Tip: Size up one on the peacoat…and hurry while it’s still only $28! More sizes are stocked, too!

Hi Sugarplum | Sugarplum Style

I’ve always planned my work outfits the night before, but I’ve started making Monday’s a little brighter and more fun…it’s kind of helped take the sting out of Sunday night.

Hi Sugarplum | Sugarplum Style

This was actually a Dressing Room Diaries shot I shared on Instagram, but am such a bozo I forgot to link the sweaters! #doh Both were insanely soft and wanted to come home with me.

Hi Sugarplum | Sugarplum Style

When it comes to pullover sweaters, I tend to gravitate to the lightweight ones…not just because I seem to be overheating more these days, but because it allows me to add extra layers for more style! This one has a hood, which I think is even cuter with a collared shirt or turtleneck underneath.

Hi Sugarplum | Sugarplum Style

Nothing dresses up plaid quicker than pearls and leopard.

Hi Sugarplum | Sugarplum Style

This was another of those Sunday night outfit planning sessions…obviously pink makes me happiest. So does this tunic! Although, I think my mom is even more obsessed than me…she keeps adding more to her collection, and blames me everytime the one she wants isn’t available. Listen woman, I can only lead you to the tunic…the rest is between you and Nordstrom! 😉

Hi Sugarplum | Sugarplum Style

This soft and lightweight sweater has been my obsession this season, considering I’ve worn it nonstop and picked up another color! I’ll share it next week in a fun Valentine outfit.

Hi Sugarplum | Sugarplum Style

Oh look, here’s the hoodie pullover again…layered with a collared shirt. So cute with the pattern peeking out the top, right?!

Hi Sugarplum | Sugarplum Style

We’ve gone from frigid, to warm, and back to frigid again…this was one of the warmer days. I used my Transitioning to Fall formula to get dressed!
Hi Sugarplum | Sugarplum Style
Who says pinks are for Spring and Summer?! And could my feet be any paler?!?! Do I even have circulation?!? So many urgent questions.

Hi Sugarplum | Sugarplum Style
Mr. SP and I are headed on a little weekend getaway soon, and we’ve got a fun dinner event to attend. I thought I’d use it as an opportunity to try something outside my normal style, and put this plaid maxi skirt up for a vote on Instagram and Facebook. And wowza were there a lot of opinions!! I love them…and this outfit. However, it’s not a winner for the event. Stay tuned for more options. I’ve actually been browsing Rent the Runway…have you ever tried it???

Hi Sugarplum | Sugarplum Style

I hope these posts inspire you to create new combinations from your closet! The key isn’t to have more clothes, but to mix up what you do have in new and different ways. Except these leggings and this coat, you need those. #trustme #enabler

  6. I've used Rent the Runway several times and loved it. Their customer service is impeccable. The key is to know what HONESTLY looks good on your body type, and not getting distracted by a pretty dress you would try on in the store but ultimately not buy. The reviews are also very helpful!

I'm a huge Rent the Runway fan. Its so much fun to rent a nice dress — something more expensive than I would buy and maybe a bit out of my comfort zone style-wise — and then drop it at UPS after the event. I recently rented the Monique Lhuillier Navy Stream dress, and it was so much fun to wear. As other commenters stated, the reviews are very helpful. I've never had a problem with sizing, although I've had to wear my back up size (the ML dress runs small in the bust). Love that they send a free back up size. I have a dress arriving next week, so I've got my fingers crossed its another winner. Go for it, you'll really enjoy it!

  8. My grey hoodie pullover is coming today – yippee! Already put the Hue leggings in my cart; size down, I assume?

Due to my Nordy's addiction, I've become that person who has their packages delivered at work so I don't have to face 'Judge Judy' eyes at home! #itsnotnewivehaditforever

    • The blackout leggings are true to size for me! xo And ha…I may or may not be familiar with that delivery technique! 😉

  9. I HIGHLY recommend using Rent The Runway. It's a fun way to try something new and high-end without shelling out a ton of money on something you won't wear often. I found their fit suggestions to be SPOT ON and you pick two sizes. Also if I'm not mistaken you get a discount on the second dress if you rent two at a time!

  10. Yep, I second those comments on RTR, they have lots of cute styles and sending two sizes is so helpful! Also, it's so nice to get to read the reviews and see the outfits on women to get a sense of fit and what it will look like in person. Only trouble is getting the dates you need it right on so you have time to try on, wear and return in time. Gonna be so fun!!!

  11. Okay, that relaxed turtleneck is everything! I've been wanting one that isn't as fitted, and doesn't scream Parisan mime! Plus it just looks insanely soft! Thanks for sharing!

  14. Love the pea coat and scarf combo-definitely worthy of repeat wear. Also digging that pink turtleneck sweater!
