Oh Monday, you beast….here already!?! We had such a great weekend celebrating the season and soaking up all the festiveness (my full Christmas house tour is up tomorrow!), that it’s even harder to return to the real world today. I hope yours was equally lovely!
I’ve found that when life gets particularly hairy, it does my soul good to stop for just a little bit, and reconnect with my creative side. That usually entails getting a little messy, and getting my craft on. This weekend I whipped up some simple vases that would make a perfect gift.

As seems to be the case lately, I was inspired by something fun I discovered on the Furbish website (like this project and this one). These Stoneware Squiggle Vases are sold out, but there was just something about them I loved…so I created them myself in a simple and quick project afternoon.

I’ve shown you guys this product before, in this chest makeover…the great thing is it sticks to absolutely anything, with no sanding or priming. Normally I might be tempted to spraypaint glass vases, but I wanted the matte finish this paint gives, plus this time of year isn’t conducive to outside spraying!

The paint dries quickly, so I was done with two coats in no time at all. It also washes off with soap and water, so you don’t have to be overly careful when painting inside.

Once they were fully dry, I just loosely scribbled squiggly lines using the fabric paint. The small tip made it easy to control where I wanted it. #twss

I love the abstract shape and pop of blue and white, and the texture of the paint imitates stoneware. And how about my $8 orchid from Home Depot!?! Both the vases and the orchid would be great gifts, don’t you think?

Did you know I have an entire gallery of Simple DIY Gifts? Some of my favorites…
Some of you may be past the DIY at this stage of the game, so I rounded up some easy gifts that are suitable for just about any of the ladies on your list. Santa, feel free to bring any of these to me!
Enter here, and good luck, lovebugs!
I love how your vases turned out!
I like to make and buy, though buy has been my m.o. For the last few years.
love those vases! Too cute!
I make some and buy most!!! Thank you for the give away!
Depends on the time available, I switch between buying and making gifts. But there is no joy more profound than making something special for the special people in life.
I love how the vases turned out!! So cute! I would love to make some projects with the paint. I hope I win!
I love to make homemade gifts with my sewing machine, but sometimes there just isn't enough time!
I love making gifts, but I often have to buy because I don't have enough time.
Make gifts!
i usually buy gifts…but i'd love to start making some! xo jillian – cornflake dreams

The squiggle vases are fun Cassie! Love the simplicity of them. Your gold dot and confetti vases have always been favorites of mine. I usually do a combination of both for gifts, handmade and store bought. Happy Monday!
Fun idea…I think alot of these would be great for my daughters first apartment. I am going to try out chalk paint for the first time over the holidays..can't wait!
I find that sometimes making gifts looks too homemade to give away. I love them for myself, but unless it looks really amazing, I prefer to buy gifts.
I love to be crafty, but for gift giving, I usually purchase gifts.
Wow- I love your version of these cute vases and can't wait to try this!
I love to make gifts especially when my kids can be involved but some people you just have to buy for 😉 good luck everyone!
I love the vases. I always do a combo of make & buy for the holidays.
You always have the best ideas! Thanks for sharing!
I'm split 50/50 on making/buying gifts. Make for the kiddos and girlfriends, buy for the men!

Buy, but only for lack of creative skills! 🙁
I wish I had more time to make gifts. I love to sew and I certainly love making gifts for my friends – I've been a few scarves, wristlet, cell phone case, and a clutch
I wish I was more craft-oriented and had more time to make beautiful gifts, but I don't, so I do most of my buying online.
I usually purchase, but like to add a little personal touch when I can 🙂
I do a little of both, but mostly buy gifts.
Both! If I buy gifts I add a personal touch somewhere!
Love to buy thoughtful gifts. I try to listen throughout the year to what people REALLY want.
A little of both, depending on my time. I can't believe how smooth that paint went on those glass vases!
I prefer to make. love to make things.
It's easier to just buy something… but there is something special about a homemade gift!!
!!!!!!!! Great giveaway! !!!!!!!
I usually prefer to do a combination of the [email protected]
Love the giveaway!
This turned out so good! I don't usually make gifts, but I do on occasion. My family prefers bought gifts 😉
Love these! I especially love the gold dot vase! Every year I say I'll MAKE more of my gifts rather than buy but usually run out of time! This is a great (and quick) option! 🙂
Love these! While I love making things, when it comes to gifts I'm definitely more likely to buy!
Would love to win.
Definitely buy…"ain't nobody got time" for DIY this time of year!
Definitely buy! Love the DIY vases – thanks for the inspiration.
buy gifts
I love making presents, and have made almost everything this year… And not one crocheted toilet paper cover in the bunch! 🙂
I love making holiday decor and usually purchase most gifts.
I love making gifts, especially Christmas gifts! Thanks for the chance!

I'm a gift buyer, not a gift maker. Love your blog!
I love your style 🙂
I usually buy gifts, but this year I'm trying my hand at making a few.
I go back and forth every year between making gifts and buying gifts
This is a buying gift year.
I usually buy gifts, but wish I could make more!
i like to do a little bit of both!
