Happy, happy Friday, my friends! Thanks so much for your kind words and support on yesterday’s post! It was a fun opportunity, and I’m so excited to be working with a sister publication…this time on a big spread! If you follow me on Pinterest, then you can probably figure out the holiday I’m creating for, based on my excessive pins!
But for now, the focus is still on Christmas, and this weekend kicks off our first round of holiday parties. I love the chance to get dressed up with Mr. SP, and parties are always a fun excuse to kick the outfit up a notch. As much as I love color and pattern in my every day outfits, I tend to lean toward solids and neutral colors for dressier styles…then add a pop with my shoes or bag.
You can never go wrong with a little black dress, and I’m usually drawn
to those with a special touch…like lace overlay, a bow, or an interesting shape. It’s classic, but with a twist. Remember this dress from my Save vs. Splurge post? Obviously I went with the Save version, and could not be more thrilled with the quality and style…regardless of the great price. Well done, Nordstrom! For size reference, I’m wearing the XS…and at 5’4″, the length is perfectly respectable (not always the case in the BP department).
I usually get just one dress for holiday season, then mix it up with different shoes, jackets and accessories for each party. I promise no one will notice you’re a repeat offender if you swap those items out…so save your money for more puffer vests! 😉 And you can never go wrong with simply adding some bling to your everyday black skirt and blouse…instant party-ready!
If you’re looking for a similar style, but with a little more length, this is a great option, and I’m still super smitten with this gorgeous version with a full skirt. But if you’re more a pants-girl, this jumpsuit would be fun.
With holiday season, comes chilly nights, so instead of buying a dressy coat that will sit in my closet 359 days a year, I use an oversized blanket scarf as a wrap.
Are you ready for party season? What’s your go-to festive outfit? Did you nab this dress when it was on super sale?? If you follow me on Facebook, then you would have known it was marked down to $34 last week! Happy weekend, lovebugs!
**This post was created in collaboration with Nordstrom, but all outfits, ideas, and fancy-impersonating are my own…per usual. Thank you for supporting Hi Sugarplum sponsors!**
gorgeous dress cassie! xo jillian – cornflake dreams
You had me at lace, GORGEOUS!! Maybe if I wore this to the Mr's holiday party, I'll remember to act classy & not visit the open bar as much #maybe
xoxo
You are so cute and I love your idea of just using a blanket as a wrap rather than buying a fancy coat that is hardly worn. ~ Betsy
What a great dress! You look fabulous and I'm dying over those shoes!
Actually debating between this exact dress or pants for a party tonight! I also bought that jumpsuit but no bueno on me….my daughter lucked out though because she was leaving for Vegas the day after it arrived and it looked smashing on her!
Cassie, I love it! I bought the dress! Quick ?: would blanket scarf option number one, the red, black, and yellow plaid, work with it? Obviously, not with pink
Shoes, but maybe red? What do you think? Love this post!
I think the scarf would look great with black shoes!! Love that scarf…and thrilled you love the dress!! xo
Cassie, thanks a million! Love the dress! Will do black shoes 🙂 so appreciate your tips!
This dress is seriously adorable! I love it!
