My mom still doesn’t quite understand how blogging works, or why so many cool experiences have come my way because of it. She reads my posts everyday via email, and always responds with a sweet comment. So she’s hugely supportive…she just doesn’t understand. 🙂
But she does get it when she opens her newspaper and finds my front doors on the cover of a national publication! She was so excited and immediately went out and bought a bunch of copies. And even before she saw it, several of you emailed me to say you recognized my doors, too!

The editors of American Profile contacted me about a month ago and asked if I’d be interested in creating a Fall craft for their Thanksgiving issue. Heck, yeah! And oh, they said, it needs to be shot for their cover. #gulp
I had about two days to pull it off (which is tricky with a full-time job!), so I dipped in to my archives and reinvented one of my favorite Fall projects…the pinecone wreath. I made two new ones using grapevine forms, and jazzed them up with ribbon and a little woodland creature. Which strangely enough, it was near impossible to find anything but Christmas decor in the weeks before Thanksgiving!! What the what?!

A little behind the scenes for you…I was on the phone with Kristin while making these, and realized my manicure was crappola, and it would show in the pics. An entire conversation ensued about what color I should paint my nails…we didn’t want them to be distracting, nor too trendy as to turn off readers. In the end, we decided bare nails were best. I mean really, who would have even noticed?!
(Sidenote: Have you ever tried to take a picture with one hand, while trying to hot glue with the other?! It requires serious skill.)
It’s such a pinch-me-moment to see your name and projects in print, and I was thrilled to have the experience and opportunity! Thank you to the editors of American Profile, and to those of you who saw it and had so much excitement for me!
And while I’m tooting my own horn, I’d also like to thank the editors of these online publications for featuring my projects!
She Knows for listing me as the Five Best Blogs for Holiday Decor Inspiration. It’s wildly flattering to be included with such great company!
BuzzFeed thought my Gift Card Holders worthy of their great round-up.
Good Housekeeping for considering my How to Hide Lamp Cords as the Best Way to Use Adhesive Hooks.
I can’t tell you guys enough how shocked
grateful I am for all the opportunities that have come from this blog.
It started as a much-needed creative outlet, and has grown to be such a
huge part of me. I know if it weren’t for you…reading, commenting,
pinning, linking etc…that none of it would come my way. So from the bottom of my overflowing heart….thank you, lovebugs!!
