Ramblings

Thanks for the love on yesterday’s style post…sounds like we’re all loving the laid-back Summer styles! We’ve had some pretty big moments around here lately, so I thought it was time for a big ole brain dump of what’s been rambling around my head and life lately!

ONE // I always hate sharing fun finds with you, only to have them sell out. But I’m happy to report several of my favorite pieces are now back in stock…including several closet staples from last year.

This Date Night look was a favorite from last year, so I found almost-identical items for you to recreate it.

This sassy number always garners a ton of compliments when I wear it, and with good reason…it’s a real head-turner! I honestly think it creates a body that isn’t really there! It’s now back in a slew of new colors and perfect for everything from weddings (not the red, obviously! #trollop) to all your fancy evening events.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS, and while it’s fitted in some areas, it has enough give to fit well and be comfortable.

This swing dress, which will take you from pool to lunch…is now available in several bright colors and stripes!

This striped racerback tank dress was quick to sell out, but it’s now back and fully-stocked in all sizes! The necklace isn’t available, but they created a Waitlist, so hopefully that means it’s coming back soon!

TWO // Dinners are pretty light around here these days, but we’re heavy on the sweets! Here are a few of my favorite warm-weather recipes in constant rotation.

Peach Cobbler Popsicles

Easiest Ice Cream Sandwiches Ever

In-N-Out Secret Sauce

Watermelon Feta Salad

THREE // Between our recent travels and the lazier schedule of Summer, my fitness has taken a backseat. I’m ready to crank it back up though, and I’m starting with this Six Weeks Virtual Fitness Program.  It’s actually led by my college roommate, and I can attest that this girl is SERIOUS about her fitness, and passionate about clean and healthy eating, so I know I’ll see improvements. It includes two new workouts each week, along with a custom meal plan packet and heathy eating tips. Anyone want to do it with me?!

FOUR // Thanks to many of you, I discovered my Master Closet Makeover is gracing the pages of this month’s HGTV Magazine! I guess The Container Store was just as happy with the newly-organzied space as we are, and decided to use it as their full-page ad! You might want to check out my 15 Simple Tips to a Luxe Closet, too.

FIVE // Can I still call this guy my baby?! First two weeks of camp in another state…and now he’s turning 16! If I weren’t so proud of the young man he’s becoming, I might weep. But don’t think I’m not totally standing on my tip-toes!

hi sugarplum son

Okay, so maybe I did get a little teary-eyed when he got his braces off last month. (Much to his horror, since we were still at the orthodontist office!) But come on, look at this transformation!! Where’s my baby boy?!

SIX // Little Miss had her own big milestone graduating from elementary school! I can hardly believe this petite little ‘surprise’ will start middle school!!! #nowImweeping

They celebrated the last day with a fun Sock Hop, and I couldn’t help but wish they still dressed like this! #saynotocroptops

SEVEN // I don’t even know what to say about Emily’s Kitchen Remodel except, ‘WOW!’

EIGHT // I tried this magic potion on my grungy Converse sneakers a couple of weeks ago, and it truly returned them back to bright white! I shared the process over on my Instagram Story…do you follow me there? First, I filled the sink with the diluted solution and soaked my sneakers in it overnight. The next day I gave them a good scrub with a stiff bristle-brush, then let them dry in the sun. If I were a better blogger, I’d have a before and after to share…instead, just gaze upon my feet in this pic…those are year-old sneakers!!

NINE // My hands-down favorite skincare line, Colleen Rothschild, is planning a big holiday weekend sale, but you lucky ducks get to shop it early! They know many of you are fans now, too, and kindly offered Hi Sugarplum readers a jump on it (bestsellers always sell out!). Just use code PLUM20 for 20% off site-wide!! Even on the popular Discovery Kit! (It’s perfect for travel, but also a good way to try-out several of the most popular products.)

My list of favorites is embarrassingly long, but honestly, I’ve never loved a skincare line like this. I’ve slowly replaced pretty much my entire routine with Colleen Rothschild products (so has Mama Sugarplum!!). I wash my face morning and night with the super-mild Cleansing Balm, and follow it up with Extreme Recovery Cream and Sheer Renewal Cream. My face transforms when I apply these!

And if I’m really dry, I’ll add a little of the Face Oil No. 9. If I can find it, that is, since Mr. SP pretty much swiped it from me. The man hasn’t moisturized a day in his life, and now he’s obsessed with the Face Oil!

We both like the Detox Mask (it’s like a Biore strip for your entire face!), and I use the Dual Enzyme Polish twice a week for exfoliation. So yeah, we’ll be using the PLUM20 code to stock-up at 20% off!!

TEN // Finally, a few items I’ve featured lately are now on super-sale, starting with this cute high-neck swimsuit.

This off-the-shoulder gingham top is just $17…no code needed!

This tiered ruffle dress is 40% off…and available in four colors! (See the full review in this Dressing Room Diaries post.)

Jean skirts are incredibly versatile…think shorts, but dressed up a notch! Mine is currently 25% off, but size down one! (I’m wearing a regular 25.)

Jean Jacket | Frayed Hem Skirt (also in traditional denim wash) | Gingham Shirt | Tassel Necklace | Pineapple Tote

This top comes in white and chambray and has a fun fringe trim at the neckline and sleeves…and is 40% off!

Embroidered Trim Top | Raw-Hem Cropped Jeans | Similar Wedges (on sale!)

Lastly, my console table is marked all the way down to $209!! That’s bananas, really. See it styled 3 Ways here.

Console Table | Lamp | Mirror | ArtAcrylic Tray | Terrariums | Basket Charm | Basket

What’s rambling through your head these days? I’d love to hear what’s going on in your world! Are you a fan of the Colleen products? Don’t forget to use PLUM20 for 20% off your order! And happy birthday to my darling, kind, inspiring, best friend Mama Sugarplum!!!

(P.S. I always get questions about Mama SP’s skincare…well she uses Colleen Rothschild exclusively, too! How’s that for a solid recommendation?!)

  1. Those desserts – you’ve set my tastebuds off now. I’m going to tackle at least one of those recipes in the weekend. Fingers crossed it gets successfully cooked and made!

  2. Morning Cassie!
Are you wearing a petite or regular in the striped swing dress. I’m 5’8″ so I’m worried it might be too short for me 🙂 THANKS!!

Hi Mindy…in the striped racerback (the one with the bright necklace), I’m wearing a regular XS, and it comes to my knees. In the black swing dress, that also comes in stripes, I’m wearing a petite XS…so a regular would def be long enough!! xo

If one could look like Mama Sugar Plum as we age, then that is a product to try! 🙂 What a beautiful family you have! I also have an elementary school graduate this year, what a cute idea with the Sock Hop!

I love dresses in the summer. So easy to throw one thing on and then you’re dressed! Colleen Rothschild is my favorite. I won’t use anything else and my collection has grown from my first purchase of the discovery kit a few short months ago. Her products transformed my skin my a breakout every few days to every few weeks now. I also have an elementary school graduate. Where have the years gone?

I will join you on your fitness journey. I am just getting back to my home in Northern Virginia after being in Dallas the last 4 months taking care of my mom. I have really neglected my workouts and I need to get back to taking care of me!

Such a great post… so many great look and the dessert recipes look amazing. I’m going to make ice cream sandwiches for the hubs this weekend. Also I love your console table, but I especially love your brass mirror. I’m currently working on a round up of my favorite entryway pieces, console tables, mirrors and runners. I’ll be posting it on the blog Friday! Thank so sharing your ramblings are too good.
