The itinerary of our recent Scandinavian Cruise was so jam-packed with amazing Northern European cities, it’s hard to actually remember the order of stops…but I do remember I desperately wanted more time in Stockholm, Sweden! It is such a vibrant city full of old and new, and the most amazing design stores and cafes on every corner.
The city is spread out over 14 separate islands, connected by bays, channels, and inlets, and the skyline is a sea of copper roofs, green with patina. Yet even with a population of nearly a million people, Stockholm is one of the world’s most beautiful, clean and orderly cities.
We booked a bus ride to the city center, then paired up with our darling friends, Ashley and Jared, to explore Stockholm on our own. And let me tell you, Ashley does her homework and does not mess around!! We saw so much in our short day! Not to mention, ate our weight in Swedish pastries!
We had the kookiest weather that day, too…it went from snow, to warm and sunny, and then snow again…all in one short day. My packable rainboots, paired with wool socks, were perfect for staying warm and dry. And looked cute. #priorities
Sugarplum Style Tip: These packable boots are super lightweight (about half the weight of average Hunter rainboots), and have a more slim fit. They literally roll up to the size of a tennis shoe…so they’re both comfy to walk in, and easy to bring in your suitcase. Just in case!

Sugarplum Travel Tip: I highly recommend you make the short drive outside the city center to Rosendahls Tradgard…a lovely garden, with a cafe and farmshop housed inside stunning glass greenhouses. The food and ambiance are beyond charming, and it was the highlight of our day. Read more about it, and see the stunning photos, in my adorable friend, Eden’s post here.

Fabrique Cafe in Gamla Stan
Sugarplum Travel Tip: Over 90 of the 100 subway stations in Stockholm have been decorated with sculptures, mosaics, paintings, installations, engravings and reliefs by over 150 artists! Of course this rainbow on the Red Line (stop: Stadion) was my fave!

Stockholm was a bustling city with so much to see and do. Spending the day here was just enough to know we need to come back!

So beautiful there..
Your photos are amazing! I loved following your Instagram stories during your trip. Everything looked so beautiful and the food looks amazing in these pictures! What a fun time! It seems like a great idea to take a cruise and pack once to visit several countries.
Your pictures are so beautiful. Just wondering if you normally book excursions for the ports of call or use some other method for seeing the sights.
Thank you, April! Depending on the port, we’ll book excursions for specific sites we want to see. But we ALWAYS book through Princess, that way you’re ensured a reputable company, and the ship will never leave without you!! 😉
Hi Cassie! I’m new to your blog and I love it! I went on a Princess Cruise last summer to Europe and it was amazing. I am also headed out July 7th for a Greek Isles Cruise, Princess again and I’m so excited. Your photos are beautiful and really make me want to book the Scandinavian Cruise next. Your outfits are perfect too.
