{Outfit Inspiration} Brown & Orange

Orange is a tricky color for me. Not just because of my general paleness, but it’s one of those colors that is iffy for a blonde. Without enough saturation, it can send me straight to Jaundice Land (not a fun place to be!). Also, I have a fear of looking like The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown…so I use it in small doses.

When Will, from one of my favorite blogs, Bright.Bazaar, posted this stunning picture, I was instantly inspired.

If you’re going to hose a room down in color, then go for it with vibrancy! But what keeps this room from being garish, is anchoring it with dark brown…in the sideboard, table legs, table and lampshades. I love the mix of patterns, and how the white in the rug and chevron chair ties them together.

Could I look anymore painfully awkward? I’m actually bracing myself against the tree so I don’t tumble into the staph-pond! But I guess it’s a step-up from the headless self-photo I used here. (Thanks Jen for being my straight-faced photographer!)
