Welcome back to a new week! I returned home from a whirlwind trip of New York Saturday, only to re-pack and fly out again yesterday! This time to celebrate Mr. SP’s milestone birthday in Sedona, a place he’s been anxious to visit for years. I can’t wait to share more with y’all!
It’s been awhile since we’ve had an Outfit Inspiration post (years, actually!), but those of you who’ve been around since the beginning #blessyou remember it’s how I used to incorporate fashion and style! This has always been a lifestyle blog with a little bit of everything, but over time, my passions (and time restraints) have changed. After all, it’s been almost eight years!
Style and travel have slowly become more prominent, but my love for interiors remains. In fact, many of my outfit ideas come from home decor…hence how the Outfit Inspiration series began!
My first post-college apartment was hosed down in maroon, so the color stayed locked in the 90s vault for me…until The Makerista used it in her library, and then my love affair with the shade was back! Except now we call it oxblood, you know, so it’s not confused with burgundy. #sarcasm
And there’s nothing I love paired with the jewel tone more than blush pink.
It’s actually a bit of a tone-on-tone, which is what makes it such an easy combination. Oxblood is indicative of Fall, but adding the softer pink makes it new and fresh. I kept my shoes neutral to allow the colors to shine (and also elongate the leg!)…but couldn’t resist a little fun with the leopard.

I raved about this mascara in this 5 Makeup Tips to Look Younger post, and I love hearing that so many of you became fast fans, too!
This dress has become a sort of uniform around here lately, as I can’t seem to stop wearing it…or ordering it more colors, for that matter! I now own it in black (see that here), navy (shown here), and now wine…and I’m not even embarrassed about it! It looks chic and flattering, and works for so many occasions. (I’m even considering it with this cardigan for a rehearsal dinner later this month.)
Fit Tip: It’s true to size, and I’m wearing an XS.

So thank you to the darling Gwen for re-igniting my love of this color! Are you a fan of oxblood? What colors do you like to pair?

Absolutely love the shade and cut of your shirtdress. Perfect!

Okay, I’m not a blush person…but I LOVE it paired with the oxblood!
You make everything look gorgeous! I’ve always steered away from this color (I blame it on being a child of the 80’s and seeing it EVERYWHERE in the late 80’s and early 90’s), but it’s so pretty on you and with the blush it feels fresh and new again! Just like that you’ve completely changed my feelings about burgundy, errr oxblood 😁
Loving this outfit and the inspiration photos! The leopard pic is so fun! Blush and burgundy are beautiful together, and I’m loving your booties also! So chic!
We are going to Sedona next month! Can’t wait to hear about your trip!
Blush and burgundy are so pretty together-now I’m rethinking the painting of my dining room. Everything old is new again, right-should the burgundy stay??
My weakness is Oxblood leather shoes, boots, and especially fine Italian leather purses (handbags, totes, wallets) Spells luxury to me.
Hope you took your waterproof hiking sandals to Sedona. Great hiking thru the rivers in the nearby State Parks. Oh yes, try to rent a jeep, visit the ancient Native American ruins. Fun!
Cassie, Have you found any earrings like the tassels you link to but in clip on form? I’ve been searching and haven’t been so lucky. I prefer to call it burgundy because oxblood sounds gross. HA!
Me too on Burgundy or Wine color. Vote me in.
Haha!! I can see that, too! I don’t spot many clip-on earrings, but I’ll keep an eye out!! xo
I love blush on it’s own..but I also love it paired with grey, navy, black, military green, and wine! So pretty!!!
Cassie – do you dry clean the dress as the instructions say?
I don’t!! I just wash it on Delicate cycle and hang dry! xo
I SO wanted that dress to work for me … the Medium fit great, but I felt like it was too short. I’m afraid the large would swallow me and I’m not really interested in having it altered … but you’re totally making me consider it.
Oh, love this! Glad I could inspire you to rethink an old favorite. 😉
