Happy Friday!! I hope you’ve had a great week! Ours was the usual…work, school, laundry, talent show practice, running late for most everything, crap-whats-for-dinner…you know the drill! Mr. SP and I are taking a little break from the routine, and sneaking away early tomorrow for the long weekend. It’s been in the 70s here all week, and the forecast where we’re going is single digits!!! Looks like I won’t be packing light! Can you guess where? I’m sure I’ll post some snaps on Instagram, so follow me there if you want.
For today’s dose of Friday Fashion, I’m sharing another basic outfit styled three ways. This time of year, it’s hard to deny the ease of a sweater and jeans, and many times, I’m reaching for the same exact sweater and jeans! But with a few layer and accessory swaps, no one is the wiser!

This post could also fall under the Rule of Three, since in each outfit, I’ve layered on two, three, and even four items, not only to make it more stylish, but to create different looks. Let’s start with the base outfit…jeans and a sweater. Totally cute on it’s own, but we don’t leave things alone around here!

The first look is straight from my ‘Transition to Fall’ formula…add a scarf and boots, with a shot of fun jewelry.

Fit Tip: This is a lovely sweater, with just enough cashmere to make it feel luxury, but not so much that it’s pricey. In fact, it’s on sale for under $50, and available in tons of colors! I love the v-neck version, too. I sized up for a more relaxed fit and room to layer, but my usual size fit perfectly, as well.

For a second look, I double-layered with a gingham shirt and quilted vest. Just imagine the possibilities with a solid sweater like this…chambray shirt and plaid vest, white shirt and utility vest, and if you’re daring, try a plaid shirt and striped vest! (The idea of that one just gave me a giddy shiver!)

Pairing similar hues really allows the striped bag to shine, and of course a little leopard…because I think every outfit is cuter with a shot of leopard.
Fit Tip: These jeans are so soft and comfy, they feel almost like leggings…except you don’t have to cover your lady bits. The higher waist means no accidental crack-shots either! #grownuppants

Boots (similar) | Striped Monogram Bag | Sweater | Jeans

Style Tip: My bag is the Savannah Tote, and it’s chock-full of pockets with a zipper close. You can customize your pattern, color and monogram style…and they have the cutest Spring collection of new patterns to choose from!

Bag (similar) | Sweater | Jeans | Leopard Heels
Style Tip: When layering, make sure each piece is peeking out somewhere. Except if one of your layers is thermal underwear…we don’t need to see that. Well, unless it’s cute thermals!

What’s your favorite way to style jeans and a sweater? I hope this post inspired some new combinations for the standby outfit. Oh, and remember the fun pom-pom clutch from this week’s {Date Night Style} post? Many of you missed out on getting it, so they’ve extended the code! Use code HSPCLUTCH for 20% off one of my favorite accessories. Happy Valentines weekend, lovebugs!
P.S. Thank you so so much for all the love on our Craft Closet makeover! And to answer many of you….yes, I do sit and drool stare at it. All. The. Time!!! 🙂

Giddy shiver and crack shots! That woke me up this morning (that, and some strong coffee)! I can't decide which look I like best. Have fun this weekend!!
The second look with the pink gingham is adorable! We are in the middle of talent show fun here too! Must be that time of year. Have a fun weekend away!
As usual, love your outfits! Have a great weekend. But I'm confused…long weekend? What am I missing?
Monday is Presidents Day! Our schools are closed…are you guys not?
Oh yes, the schools are closed. But we aren't off work! You mentioned you and the hubby, so I thought maybe there was something I missed. Girl, I'm in healthcare. I don't always get Christmas off!., Presidents Day is for sure not recognized!!
Love the way you slip in those basics, crack-shot indeed. Heaven forbid. Great 3 looks and all quite different.
Hot pink and leopard print … who knew? Aside from Cassie. Pinned some of these looks to try with what's in my closet.
I love all the bright pink! Those leopard heels always look fantastic too. They took our President's Day break away and are giving us Wednesday off instead because the pope is coming to the Mexican City just across the border from us. So no long weekend. Sad face.
Oh, I recognize the Dude, Sweet sign! A friend of ours owns Breckenridge Distillery, and they partnered up with Dude, Sweet to make a chocolate liqueur…it's so good on ice cream!
Love all the looks, but love the vest and pink gingham the best. Happy Valentine's Day!
These outfits are on point! One of my fav style posts (okay, I love them all…hows a girl to choose?!). I gotta say though, sweet Maude all mighty I'd be sweatin' with all those layers!
P.S. Splash of Leopard print with everything. Amen. #allthetimelepardprint
Those pics took me back to childhood! We would go to downtown Plano as children and play at the "train park" just down the road from where you're at in these. And I've always loved that art deco building!
Cassie, I love these posts….thanks for doing them!! I would love for you to do a post sometime of your closet. With all these wonderful clothing items you have, I'd love to catch a peek into the wonderful world of Cassie's closet. 🙂 Since it seems like you're able to purchase clothes regularly to do posts like this, do you regularly purge clothes, or are you building staples? Thanks so much!
enjoy your weekend!
I purchased this sweater in blue…seeing it here makes me think I need pink too! I totally have described it the same…so cozy without being too hot and here in Texas that is so important!! I love my W&W jeans too. Sucks about your bag! Thanks for all the inspiration as always!
All 3 outfits are awesome…but my favorite is that last one with the plaid shit and blazer! DARLING!!!!
Okay…I'm smitten with the color of that sweater…and all three outfits are perfect!
You're outfits are always on point I don't think I've ever disliked an outfit!
Super cute outfits! I love the pink sweater! I have to know if you had anything in that crossbody bag or was it empty? What a bummer! Have a fun trip!
Ugh…that bag! 🙁 I'm 99% sure it was empty, since I brought it with me to the park to shoot for this outfit…it wasn't my purse for the day. Still #wahhhhhh
Oh my gosh, you are so clever. I would never imagine those leopard heels with that outfit but it so works! The blazer is adorable. Thank you for putting together such great looks and giving permission to re-wear favorites over and over!
Can you share the brand of the blazer in the pics?
It's quite old…from J.Crew Factory. I see it pop back every few seasons, so hopefully will again! I just love the popped collar!! xo
I know this is an older post, but I LOVE the color of that sweater. It appears very bright pink, almost fuchsia in the pics. Online they still have it, but the closest color appears to be the red barberry. That's not it, is it? I want this color!! You look great and have amazing style & creativity!! Thanks for inspiring us. 🙂 Happy weekend!
Thanks so much, Sandy! The sweater is definitely more pink than red, so doesn't look like they have it in stock right now. I'd guess they'll add more colors as the season progresses. It's a gorgeous sweater tho, with so many great colors! xo
